Customer Reviews

Vastly Better Than Original Pad - Astonishingly Wonderful! I Am On Cloud 9! This is the second upgrade I have recently done to my Aeron Chair. This is even better than the pellicle fabric headrest as far as improving the Aeron for my back. I have enjoyed my Aeron Chair for over 10 years and even before these recent upgrades the chair has been a real benefit for my bad lower back (spondylolisthesis at L5). I decided to try the Posture Fit kit after reading the positive reviews here on Amazon. However I was concerned about the negative reviews posted here as well.Let me reassure you, don't be influenced by the negative reviews! If you are currently sitting in an Aeron chair with the old lumbar pad you will love this upgrade. This kit offers vastly improved support. Yes, it takes about 10-15 minutes and some patience to install but it is relatively easy and well worth the effort. The "butterfly pad" seems to rotate the pelvis forward by applying just the right amount of adjustable pressure to the lumbar area of the lower back. My only wish is that I had the Posture Fit and the headrest from the beginning. These improvements have transformed my chair into a precisely supportive cloud for my back. I am ecstatic - it feels like a new chair. The other add-on I highly recommend is:Headrest for Herman Miller Aeron Chair I believe both of these are "must-have" items for this great chair.I am baffled by the negative reviews of this item, the installation was easy and the results outstanding.Note: My wife has a healthy back and she loves the chair now so much I am afraid I am going to have to buy another. After installing the Posture Fit and sitting in the chair she exclaimed "Oh wow!" I concur.UPDATE: 20 months later, still loving this modification to my Aeron Chair. The PostureFit support kit was a great add-on. Highly recommended. 5Looks Nice, Should outlast the cheap pad that came with the chair. Feels a little like a hack installing. Looks Nice, Should outlast the cheap pad that came with the chair. Feels a little like a hack installing.Whats most important is if it indeed does help prevent back pain via proper support. However, I can;t say yet as I just got it. I will make an update at some point once I know for sure.As far as feel, its much lighter support then the foam pad even at the max setting. I also think it needs to be adjustable up and down. However, perhaps the ergonomics of this is set up right as a one size fits all solution and making it movable might allow people to put the support in the wrong position thus defeating the purpose. Well time will tell so I give it a 4 for now. If nothing breaks and it indeed does provided the "full pelvic support" vs. merely lumbar support like the bad did as some people say then I suspect I will up it to a 5. 4Good instructions for install. Better than the foam crosspiece support. Adjustable support took a little time to install, but instructions were good (despite some poor choices in picture size and angle) and it went fine first try. The support is truly lumbar, and can't be adjusted for height, as opposed to the original foam crosspiece lumbar support. However, this support's single adjustment, which primarily affects how deep the support presses, affects where it hits the back vertically a little and so it's not hard to find a comfortable setting. With that said, it is much more comfortable than the old foam crosspiece and shouldn't break down like the foam does. 5It's not lumbar support. It's whole posture support Takes a different approach to support for your spine, by addressing your posture from the root (pelvic area). It's 'passive' lumbar support, if you will. Several recent high-end chairs are built this way today, though still generalize it as "lumbar support" since it's a key phrase that those familiar with ergonomic chairs are familiar with.Note:--It's far more effective when sitting upright with your behind far back on the seat pan. but still very comfortable when reclining.--Install was relatively easy once you find where to clamp the control dial/mechanism 4Not the same as lumbar support, a little better. This supports the back from the base of the spine, and doesn't feel as extreme as the lumbar support. That said, it does provide all the support needed and it is a nice adjustable upgrade for the Aeron. The previous "old" lumbar support only has two support settings, and to select between a little support and a lot, it requires removing the support bar from the chair, flipping it over, and reinstalling it. For the PostureFit, the adjustment can be made using a knob for a little support, a lot of support, and everything in between. The pieces fit on the frame in a way where the original designers apparently planned for this type of addition. There's a hidden bump/tab that helps align the bracket for the knob. Initially the bracket was a little tricky to get aligned, but it's because the pieces fit so tightly together. Fits on the Aeron in a way that makes it feel like it came this way from the factory.Despite what the manual says, the PostureFit kit can be installed with a Philips head screwdriver and nothing else. There are YouTube videos for help installing if you get stuck, but I feel that the written instructions are reasonably written and the illustrations are sufficient. The bottom of the support is pulled toward the front of the chair by a cable. This cable is held in place by a bracket, but most importantly, the cable passes straight through the mesh back rest. I do not think it is possible to install it without widening a small hole in the mesh back rest. I was very careful during the install, but there is still a small widened area of mesh where the cable passes through. This means that once you install the kit, even if you remove the kit, there will always be a small hole in the base of the mesh back rest. I double checked the location for mine, and it is so low on the back rest that it is below the seat bottom. This means it is only visible from behind the chair. If this sort of irreversible change bothers you, this kit may not be for you as replacement back rests can be very expensive. If you already have a lumbar support on the chair, I am not sure that this kit is worth the money. In the absence of lumbar support on the chair, this kit is absolutely worth the money. 5Nice Upgrade; Moderate Installation Difficulty Different support than the old foam bar that I had which broke. In short - it's a very different feel. It is much more substantial in terms of strength of support than the foam bar; the con is that it is not really height adjustable and this sits much lower than I used to keep the foam bar lumbar support. I wish it had a height adjustment option, but overall I'm happy with this upgrade. 5Nice, just a bit expensive. It's a bit expensive for what it is. The installation process takes a bit of time, but it's not too bad. However, the Aeron chair is much more comfortable with this, compared to the old lumbar pillow. I'm very glad this upgrade is available, because I love my Aeron chair, and thought I might have to buy a new one when my lumbar pillow ripped. 4Great for back support Great addition to your Herman Miller chair! I used to have one of these in a different office. Now that I work out of my house I finally got a Herman Miller chair but something was missing - and this was it! I was able to install it without any difficulty and it fits my back perfectly. I haven't been been this comfortable in a chair in a long time! If you have a Herman Miller but still feel like you need just a little something extra, this might be it. There are videos online about how to install it if needed. 5IT IS NOT LUMBAR SUPPORT If you are seriously thinking about it just stop right now and BUY IT.I recently strained my lower back and decided to purchase the PostureFit. After using it for a week I can safely say that I wish I had purchased it when I originally bought the chair. It is not lumbar support. It actually works to strengthen your lumbar and straighten your spine by forcing the pelvis forward. Just Google "PostureFit Design Story"If your only worry is the installation, just stop right now and BUY IT.It's super easy to install. There is a little booklet with instructions a child could follow. There are also installation videos online. If you know what you're doing it takes about 5 minutes. Expect to spend 15 minutes or so if it is your first. The wire is blunt tipped and is never in danger of damaging the chair. 5O.k. don't expect too much, it's not a life changer... but it is a wallet-weight changer... Quality item, good installation instructions but from 0 to 100% adjusted the range is too small in my opinion. Those times where I feel like I need a basketball behind my back this is way insufficient... and for the price that is disappointing... however, MUCH better deal than $80 for that stupid lumbar thing they sell. 3
