Five Stars from a picky consumer I received my stools today and immediately set to assembling the lot. I ordered two sets (four stools). I would give these four stars for craftsmanship alone (which I consider to be a very good rating on mass produced assembly-required furniture) but the stools do look very nice and seem quite solid so I bumped my rating to five stars. There were some minor differences in the quality of craftsmanship between the two sets I received (see the rest of my review if you want more info) but all four stools seem to be well made and quite solid.As I mentioned, I ordered two sets (four stools). The first box I opened had a sticker indicating the stools were manufactured in October 2013. The stools assemble using splined dowel rods and heavy wood screws. I decided I wanted to take the additional step of gluing the dowel rods at assembly as I expect these stools to see daily use by the entire family and guests. I did a quick dry-fit for both stools before final assembly (put everything together without glue or screws) and both stools fit together superbly -- perfect alignment and a snug fit. I glued up my pieces and made the final assembly including the wood screws without any problems. Both stools stand on the floor level without any wobble or creaking (I weigh about 230 lbs and these stools don't make the slightest creak or pop when I sit down). These stools have screw-in feet that allow you to level the stool, but on these two I didn't need this feature because they stand perfectly flat. These stools also came with a couple extra screws, which could have been an accident, but I tend to take as a sign of a manufacturer that pays attention to details when it comes to making products that the consumer needs to assemble.I pulled the second set out of their box and repeated the process (these stools were manufactured in September 2014). Right away I could tell there was a difference. While the stools looked identical to the first set, the craftsmanship was not quite as fine. These two stools did not fit together snuggly (the holes for the dowel rods were larger than the dowels and thus were quite loose). Also, the legs were very difficult to attach as the holes for the dowels did not line up perfectly which meant I had to force alignment against the seat surface/cushion. All the same, I completed my assembly using wood glue and the provided screws without any real difficulty. I am not sure that my taking the additional step of gluing these two stools will make much difference in the long run since the dowel holes were not correctly matched to the dowels, but I did it all the same. I sat on these two stools, again with no pops or creaks, but these stools did stand on the floor with a slight wobble (it looks to me that the legs are not quite all the same length by perhaps 1/16th of an inch or so). Fortunately these stools also came equipped with leveling feet that you can screw in or out to level the stool, so I gave the two corner legs of each of these stools a slight turn and problem solved, no wobble. I also noted that this set did not come with any extra screws. All of that said, I was still quite satisfied with these stools.Sitting side-by-side, nobody will be able to tell the difference between the four stools. They look very nice and sit at a good height for our counter top. That said, I placed the two stools that were made in 2014 down at the far end of the counter where they see less use. All in all I am extremely satisfied with these stools and would expect them to provide years of solid service to the average family even if you were to do a standard assembly without glue. Given the price I paid (which came out to about $65 per stool) I think these were a good value. 5Simple, understated, sturdy. I have a lot of mid century furniture and was looking for some sleek streamlined counter height stools. After weeding through loads of ugly chunky stuff, I took a chance on these. Simple (but a little tedious) to assemble, and they match my existing furniture nicely. I like that the legs, while they do spread, don't look like they're sprawling.The seat is wide enough to be comfortable, with foot rests at a good height for kids and short adults. These stools are surprisingly well made too - they are sturdy, and have particularly good feet which side really nicely on my hardwood floors. I have pretty high standards, and had low expectations for these, but I'm very glad to say they are a hit! Plus they arrive in a very compact flat box, unlike a lot of stuff that is over-packaged these days. 5Love these stools/chairs Love these stools/chairs. Thought the price was a good value. The screws were loose in the shipping box..scratched and nicked some of the wooden parts during shipping. Also had assembly problems. 1) because the hex tool is so tiny it was difficult to use (especially if the holes weren't aligned) 2) no instructions in the first box I opened and 3) the holes didn't align. Lots of trial and error but best results from loosening the pre-attached bars on the bottom on the stool for some wiggle room...attach all the legs...then tighten the bars. Legs were not balanced on 2 of the 4 but easily adjusted.Still, after all the headache, they are attractive, lightweight, comfortable stools that work well with my eat-in counter. 4First class stools. Wow! These are so far above expectations I don't know where to start. They are high quality stools. Easy to assemble, super sturdy, beautifully finished. The padding on the seat is dense and soft with a heavy vinyl cover. Everything fits together well. The only thing I would do differently is add wooden plugs to cover the screw heads, but for ~ $65 each... I am happy. I have been looking for stools for a month or so and these are far and away the best I've found at this price point. They also go perfectly with mid-century modern or Danish decor. 5Fast ship! The shipping was FREAKY FAST! Less than 18 hours! I couldn't believe my eyes. The packaging was solid - it was double boxed. I was very excited till I unpacked and pulled the first leg out - scratches, many of them. The second leg slightly scratched. I just wrapped everything up and put it back in the box to return it. All the attached pictures are from the same leg.Note the color also - it's on the yellow brown side, not red brown like some solid walnut tends to be. 3Not only are the well constructed, but they are elegantly constructed. Great design. Great product. These replaced counter stools with a back. They were a bit unsightly. These now tuck away out of sight and have such an elegant shape. As someone severely overweight, I push most furniture. But even for me, these remained solid. Easy to construct, but definitely solid construction. A good investment at a very reasonable price. 5No problems No problems with delivery or assembly. For a couple months now, a grouchy #250 man has stumbled onto one or another of these to wait for morning coffee -- no problem with solid rubberwood being sturdy. No problem with the pleasing MCM lines of these pieces, either. No problem hanging on to them for now. But when I hit the number I'll get some of those rosewood stools Erik Buch designed for O.D. M bler. I 'll put 'em on my golf cart and in my boat. 4Falling apart! I truly wish there was a way to contact the seller for this product to ask for a replacement. While these stools are perfect for our little breakfast bar -just enough cushion, the perfect height and look very nice they are falling apart after 5 months. I have attempted to use wood glue to hold them together but it's not working. We're disappointed these are so poorly constructed. 1Sturdy chair, but finish on leg must of come off during shipping. The chairs are sturdy, and look nice except the finish on leg was missing in few spots, and one of the screws couldn't be tightened. I didn't didn't want to mess around with returning it so I repaired it myself. 3
