Customer Reviews

Poor quality lasts few months only Looks great but falls apart in 6-8 months. Poor quality paint and material. Almost all of the joints on the shelves and shelves got corroded. I had to thrash it. Corrosion stains on bathroom tiles could be difficult to remove. 1Pretty Good Got this to match with my new shower rod in the same finish. Good quality finish that doesn't look like it will flake or rust. I didn't have any of the problems with length that other reviewers mentioned. Mine came with 5 bar pieces; 1 bottom piece, 1 top piece with extender, 2 long middle pieces, and 1 short middle piece. I suspect that if you find yourself needing to cut one of the middle bars to make it fit, you should probably just pull out the extender as far as it will go instead. I did find that the bars don't fit together super tightly, so the shelves end up rotating a bit during/after installation. I had to push the bar as far into the corner of the shower as possible to keep the shelves from turning from side to side, but it seems pretty stable there. I loaded it up with a lot of heavy bottles, and it doesn't show any sign of shifting or sliding. My only real concern with this product is the little silver screws that you use to tighten the shelves onto the bar. I'm not sure if they will get rusty later, but time will tell... 4For $20-25 It Is A Great Value I got this for $20, and on the combination of its price, functionality, and quality, I give this five stars. There are a few caveats, so that's why I think this should not be worth more than $30.First, it is made of brushed aluminum that's painted dark copper. The paint coating is thin, and chips easily, so be careful during assembly and installation - make sure you don't drop it or scrape it. The trays are of the same quality, and nicely designed. There are four unique trays - the bottom is has the most depth, advisable for your bigger and taller bottles, and the rest gets shallower as it goes up. The second highest tray has two hooks for your loufa or something you want to hang there, and the top tray has a small towel rack for your scrubbing sheet. The whole contraption aligns with your bathtub corner nicely, leaving only an centimeter or so of crevice space. The upper most pole has a combination of locking and spring mechanisms to give it the extra tightness and security so it doesn't slip and bop you on the head during a overly enthusiastic rendition of bathroom karaoke. Basically, you extend it so it is about an inch taller than your ceiling or the underside of where you want to place it. Then you lock it in place, then push down on the spring and slide it in. The spring is really tight, and holds well. I am not going to go overboard and place all my heavy jugs of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, moisturizer, bubble bath liquid, etc. but so far it is holding really well. The other thing I don't like is that the locking mechanism of the trays to the pole permanently puts a dent in it. There is a screw that you lock into place by squishing it into the pole, and for it to stick in place, it has to grind tightly into the pole, so it always leaves a dent in place. You won't see it until if it slips and you have to lock it again, but each time you do that you will leave a dent. There is no way to get around it, so this method is quite unsatisfactory. The good thing is though it is staying in place so far, so hopefully I don't have to make new dents.Included are the bottom and top poles, and three middle poles for the in-between - two longer poles, and one shorter one. Because of the unique shape of my bathroom, I only needed the one shorter pole, which makes for a total of 5 feet plus however long the spring can extend(I'm guessing another 6-10 inches). If you were to use all three of the middle poles, this thing can go as high as nine feet total. 5So far so good I read other reviews before buying. Couldn't find a caddy that was really well rated but this was the best amongst them.I can't attest to the long term durability or rust proofing yet as I just constructed it.I can speak about the construction process which is fairly simple. Those complaining about it must have no mechanical aptitude at all. I can't see where installation would require you cutting poles like some said unless they just don't understand how the top pole works. You have a top pole and a bottom pole and the middle poles of various lengths. You put those together so it is shorter than the height you need. The closest I could get was about 8 inches short, but the top of the top pole pulls out and extends. You extend this to one inch over the total length and then twist it until it locks. A sticker tells you the direction to twist it. After that mount your baskets where you want and slide it in place, it isn't rocket science. The main pole seems sturdy and I guess I will find out about the baskets over time.If it goes badly I will come back and update my review but so far so good. 5InterDesign York Bathroom Constant Tension Corner Shower Caddy I just put this up (FYI the instructions on how to adjust the top pole are on it's pull out part) and I'm not very happy with it. It bows away from the corner with nothing on the shelves. The top and bottom are in the corners but then it arches away in the middle. Since it's not snug in the corner the shelves don't help to keep it from wobbling I have it tight enough that it won't fall over and the shelves are tight on the poles so they won't slip or rotate. For the company it's good that I got it on sale and I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it but if I had paid full price It would be going back to them. I have put all the shampoos and other things on the shelves and they seem sturdy enough to hold them but again the problem is the wobbling from side to side causing the bottles to fall over. After thinking about it I figured how to stop the wobbling. I rotated the shelves so two are up against the left wall and the other two are against the right wall. This has helped stabilize it but doesn't look the way it should.All-in-all I would not recommend this to anyone until the manufacturer redesigns it so it doesn't bow. One star because I'm not returning it, second star because it still holds bottles even with the design flaw (this is my second metal caddie, the last one was 7 years old and I couldn't find it again so that's why I went with this one). 2Looks lovely, wants to fall to pieces under load This corner shower caddy looks nice, but the two end caps on the telescoping poll are far too slippery. On two different occasions the pole slipped on the porcelain tub just enough to let the spring-loaded rods disengage--and the entire unit exploded into separate pieces in the bathtub. Once while my wife was bathing our toddler! Needless to say, having the unit fall to pieces onto our kiddo's head was not ideal; luckily there were only surprised tears and not injuries.I was able to replace the slick end caps with some heavy-duty rubber furniture-leg cups. These provide a much larger surface area as well as being pretty much non-skid. You can see what I'm talking about in my attached photos. After positioning the enhanced unit into place, I discovered that the separate pieces of the telescoping rod still wanted to expand and separate from each other, so I also screwed each piece into the neighboring rod. You can see this in the pictures as well.I like the number of storage shelves, and the piece as a whole is attractive. However, shortly after using it I tried to move one of the storage shelves and ended up stripping the little screw-grommet thingy--I could no longer fasten that shelf to the pole. I solved this with yet another screw. It's way too easy to strip the treading on the little shelf screws!Since these enhancements, the unit has been rock solid and acts as expected. It's attractive and fairly inexpensive but I would not buy another unit from this manufacturer. I've needed to make too many adjustments with extra screws and rubber feet. These have all helped the stability, but it should be stable on its own. 2Perfect so far I read so many reviews before ultimately deciding to purchase this product. I was nervous about putting this together after reading complaints about having to cut pipes and pieces not fitting together well. I am not sure what all the fuss was about. I was able to put this product together in about 15minutes, with no cutting involved. The mutiple different included pole lengths allows for getting that custom height without cutting anything. The baskets seem pretty sturdy, despite what some reviews said.I did not need any extra tools. There was an Allen wrench in the box and that was the only thing I neededTo address complaints of it falling, you really have to make sure the height is adjusted to about 2-3 inches higher than the height of the ceiling, so that when you put tension on the rod to put it up, that when you release it, it has enough tension to stay up with things in the baskets.I have had mine up for 3 weeks with no signs of it moving or being at risk of falling.Update February 2016I have no complaints so far. The caddy has not even budged so far, and I have no doubt that it will stay put. The baskets are sturdy, and I have seen no signs of rust so far.Update June 2016I still have no complaints. There are still no signs of rust, and the caddy has not fallen or budged. 5The top section does not allow for any variability in ... The top section does not allow for any variability in height, as it will not lock within the range described. It will not fit your standard tub to ceiling. If you only have a standing shower then this product may work. However, be aware it is very flimsy when assembled. Please see video for further details. 1Here's a few helpful hints if you're considering this shower caddy pole. For perspective, I'll start by saying that I'm a non-mechanically inclined 56 year old woman. It took me a long time to decide which pole caddy to buy after failing to figure out how to construct a caddy that I had purchased from Home Depot (and subsequently returned.) Most pole caddies I found online had less than glowing reviews and none (including this one) had consistently good reviews but I settled on this one because I liked the size and depth of the baskets.First, construction would have been so much easier with just a tad more verbiage. There is a top pole, bottom pole and three middle poles in the package. The middle poles are different lengths so you can combine them as needed to approximate the height of your ceiling. They should be assembled so they are slightly shorter than needed. Now I'll add what should be a "no-brainer" but isn't immediately apparent by looking at it. After your pole is a little shorter than the correct height, pull on the CAP of the top pole to extend the it to a length about 1 inch longer than the exact distance from bottom to ceiling. Then twist the pole until the extension is tight then the spring can engage inside the pole that creates the tension and secures it in place.Placing the baskets takes just a little planning. Find something with which you can temporarily mark the poles. (There's tape labels on the poles that I removed, tore in half and used for this). After the top pole length is locked, remove it, slide the baskets (with their plastic collars inserted) onto the pole, replace the top pole and install it in your shower. Once installed, decide where you want the baskets and mark the spots (this is where I used the tape). Then you'll need to remove the pole from the shower because the screws to secure the baskets are on the backside of the pole. Of course, as you remove the pole from the shower so you can secure the baskets, the baskets will all fall. Once out of the shower, re-position the baskets according to your marks and secure them with the set screws. Be sure to line them up before tightening. Then stand the whole thing up and install it.It really was easy, it just wasn't apparent by looking at it that the cap could pull out on the top pole. Securing the baskets could have been engineered better, the plastic top, bottom and collars should have been rubber but it's only a $30 pole. The jury is out whether the plastic collars will sufficiently hold the baskets in place once they start being used. Probably the biggest complaint I have is that the basket wedge isn't a full 90 degrees which means that the baskets aren't snug in the corner and the pole moves side to side. I'm going to have to find some sort of solution to stop the side to side play or the shower walls will eventually be marked by the outside of the basket. Regardless, I like it. Once I figured out how the spring mechanism engaged, it was easy to assemble, albeit cumbersome. The baskets are deep enough that my bottles are secure and not going anywhere and the oiled bronze color is very attractive. It's not great but its good enough. I'll update this if I ever change my mind.Update 11/21/2018Three years later and my shower caddy is still standing strong. It still looks great, its washcloth bar and loofa hooks are incredibly useful and the basket sizes and depths have proven to be perfect. The baskets still dont sag and unlike my concerns from three years ago, the side-to-side basket movement is not an issue of concern. There havent been any signs of rust or corrosion but I did buy the oiled bronze finish which may not show it as much as a silver pole might. Similarly, my complaint about the plastics parts vs. rubber feet have also proven to be unwarranted. I highly recommend this pole and am changing my intial four star review to five. Oh and no, I didnt receive any compensation for this review. 5it's a caddy, it holds stuff, that will do was impressed by the range of hight customizability of the pole. i have weird ceiling heights all through my apartment (converted attic in an old 1800s farmstead) and this managed to adjust easily to the ceiling in my bathroom while maintaining good rod tension.i was a little concerned assembling it based on other reviews, and it seemed i might have run into the same problem many did. pulling out the pressure rod i was able to figure out how it worked and just kept resetting it until the mechanism actually engaged properly. so that part was a little hokey, but with some effort i managed to get it working properly.the shelves hold less than my previous caddy had, which is marginally disappointing as i was always struggling to fit everything in the old caddy, now i'm really going to have to restrain myself when buying new personal care products.we'll see how this one holds up. the previous one had been in use for 5 years before i finally broke down and replaced the rusted out mess it had slowly become. 4
