Customer Reviews

Doesn't do its job consistently. I will be sending this back. I am not sure if it is the leads or the device itself however you get drastically different readings depending on where on the leads you touch your wires or piece of hardware. Using the continuity tester with just the leads, touching the tips, sometimes you get continuity and sometimes it reads open. Same with Ohms. Sometimes 0 ohms and sometimes K and M ohms with just the leads. Very disappointed since this had high ratings from other buyers. Honestly, the build quality is what you would think for the price point. The pictures show the leads in the holders but beware these are very loose and fall out if a stiff breeze hits the device. 1It's an Equus, if that makes you think twice. But, so far so good for me. First thing, this is smaller than expected. The display is well sized. knob a little small, but no big deal.Auto-range function is really helpful, and works well.Beep for continuity test is way to soft to be useful if background noise is present, say with a running engine or fan motor.Plastic tabs on the case are laughably bad. Don't expect the probes to stay in them like the picture shows, not even the slightest bit grippy.Final note, this is an Equus sub-branded product. For those who haven't had the pleasure, Equus is notable for cheap, crummy diagnostic tools in past years. I've owned a few in my life, and have discarded them quickly as they failed. Dwell/multimeters, timing lights, tachs, etc. All have failed after what I think is very limited casual use. I usually pick one up for cheap somewhere because I need something quick and that's what is there. About Harbor Freight quality, if that makes sense. So, Innova is generally decent quality for consumer-grade tools, but seeing Equus under the display (which would have warned me off if I'd seen it earlier) makes me think I'll be buying a replacement at some point. 3Great meter, with a couple caveats... Good multimeter, with all the functions one might need. Two minor peeves, both related to response time: First, the continuity tester has a short delay (~0.25 - 0.50 sec) before sounding the tone - this can be annoying if I'm trying to analyze a device that has a ton of wiring, or if it's hard to maintain contact at length, resulting in a bunch of false negatives. The other is that the auto-ranging takes forever to scale-down on low-voltage/current/resistance leads, on the order of about two seconds in most cases. These are not damning problems, but this is certainly a meter for amateurs/enthusiasts such as myself who can afford to wait and/or re-test in the described situations. 4Worked until I changed the batteries I have only used this maybe 6 times since I purchased it a couple years ago. I changed the batteries on this and since thenit behaves real flaky (sometimes works normal, sometimes see only a few portions of the characters in the display, and other timesit doesn't power up at all. To change the batteries you take out a couple screws and remove the back panel (exposing the circuitry). If i repeat theprocess of removing and screwing the panel back in, at some point it starts working again. Can't tell if there is something that needs to be compressedto make contact and power up but it's not worth the time to mess with. I've tried 4 different pairs of new batteries to no avail. 1Good Choice,Good price, nice features, great price. I don't have a use for a meter very often but when i do i need it to work which my previous meter did not!I kept taking it out only to discover the battery had been left on by your's truly once again and it would cost me another 9 volt battery to get it working but that was the last straw i got on here and bought this one and for a great price,it shuts off automatically and not only that i had a hard time figuring the ranges, this meter automatically sets the range too and it also has several other design features that make it easy to use,i really like it,I gave the old one to a guy outside of Goodwill before i ever got in the door to give it away, well,it went to a good home,i told him about the battery but he didn't seem to care,so all is well that ends well i guess.recommended 5Two consecutive units failed. I like the meter and it seems to work fine but the battery load test LEDs do not work on my unit. I will not send it back over that but it was a little disappointing.UPDATE 2.28.2018I did decide to send the meter back for a replacement after I discovered another problem with it. It stopped measuring current and would not complete a circuit when measuring current. I got my replacement very responsively from Amazon so KUDOS for that advance shipment. The new meter failed in the exact same way as the original. The batter test load LEDs stopped working and the meter stopped measuring current. I can not recommend this meter and I actually recommend avoiding it. I am just going to replace this one with some other brand of meter and I will have to buy it locally at this point because I have screwed around for over a week now trying to get one of these that works. 1An excellent product at a bargain price OK, for those of you using one the Harbor Freight Mulitmeters, (or maybe you have several of them), it's time to assign them to the junk drawer, bite the bullet and spend a few bucks to get one that is automatic and accurate. Every time I use this, I can't help but thinking how much better this is. It's the best multimeter I have owned, and I have owned many over my 77 years, probably a dozen in total. You will really enjoy using this with its large readout screen, automatic ranging and probe storage. If you're looking for a good present or stocking stuffer, this would make a great present. Give one to a friend while you're at it. 5Good multimeter but the probes could have more sensitive contact area. This is a pretty decent inexpensive multimeter. I put it in my tool bag that I carry around with me to different sites, so that I could leave my more expensive multimeter on my work bench at home, where I do most of my work, and not have to worry about losing the Fluke or forgetting to bring it with me. For what I do (I'm a theatre technician) this multimeter works well for most purposes. I also thought the battery test feature would be un-necessairy, but it so happens that there is a large bucket of battery of unknown condition in one of the shops that I work in, and the lights made it really simple for me to hand this multimeter to an assistant and say "If the light is green keep the battery, otherwise, recycle it.".My one minor complaint is that the tips on the two probes that come with this multimeter are not super "sensitive". I don't know if that is the right word, but sometimes it seems like you have to touch the very tip of the probe to the contact you want it to have. This is good for testing precise things, but sometimes is disadvantageous if you at trying to test power connectors. 4Not an electronics whiz.... but it does what I need it to, and does it well. I am about the farthest thing from an 'electronics whiz' there has ever been... but from my neophyte perspective, this is an excellent tool.I've only used it to check low voltages (DC), continuity and to check an outlet or two to see if they're 'live'... but it's easy to read, ergonomical and seems to have ample functions should I ever need them. The case is sturdy and it appears to be very well made... but time will tell.Again... I'm more than a bit of a Luddite, but it works well for the capacity I use it in. 5It's the little things..... The Innova 3320 Digital Multimeter]] has all the standard "multimeter" functionality, plus some nice little touches that make it a great buy. * Seniors will appreciate the 1 1/2" numerals on the LCD readout * Auto-Ranging makes measurement taking a breeze and Auto-Off prolongs battery life * It's easy for anyone to use the intuitive battery tester * The meter has a built-in stand and a wrist strap for true hands free operation * The audible tone Continuity Tester and the Diode checker ae handy additionsBottom line...I think you will find that this is the best meter you can buy for under $25 5
