When it works, it's greatThis was my second Iriscan Mouse, as the first one I had began not working after several months and I assumed I broke it somehow. I am now less sure the issue was my fault as this one never worked smoothly and began having serious problems after some time of use.I purchased this one some time ago and had trouble getting the driver set up, but finally got it working. The few times I used it after that, it worked nicely. After the few good times, it began closing the scan before finishing (and it was not even half way through the buffer memory) and required uninstall and reinstall of drivers to keep it working. It became to more trouble then it was worth and I put it away. I really NEEDED to use it again today and tried it again with even more issues. Had to do the drivers AGAIN, then it worked one time (didn't scan very well either) and then it started bogging down and shutting the scan off after a short section (again, the buffer memory was less then half way so it wasn't that). I tried to find a way to find support online or send email or make another form of contact, but the website is NOT set up for customer service. You can search existing questions and suggestions for guidance, but no help or troubleshooting.This would be a great product if it worked. I really need a scanner of this type but will search a different brand this time. 2NON-EXISTENT Technical or Customer SupportNON-EXISTENT Technical or Customer Support: I purchased this hand scanner in February to use on OS X 10.11. The website indicated version 10.10 or better. The software installed, but never executed without bombing. I went to the technical support website and filed a request for support. All I wanted to know is whether there was driver software compatible with Apple's most recent OS X version. I received no response after two "trouble ticket" submissions. The customer support is non-existent!!! 1Great technology, except I cannot actually use it todayI used the previous version of this scanning mouse. It worked quite well on various receipts and expense records. It would be pushed to its limits and sometimes over them if I had to scan a full page of small-font text. But aside from that, I had a certain use in mind for this scanner mouse and I was happy with how it did the job.I lost that mouse and had bought a replacement, the current version of this mouse several weeks ago. I'm not so happy with it now. First of all, the product no longer includes a protective pouch. It does include a "skin" to change the colour of the mouse, which is a lot less useful. The second problem is, I need to use the mouse on my new laptop, which doesn't have a CD drive, so it's necessary to download the software. And you cannot simply download the software from the website, you have to fill out a request form and the customer support service is quite slow to respond. As a result, I have some papers to scan and I'll have to use some alternative method, while this mouse sits idly on my desk. 2I love this user friendly mouseI love this user friendly mouse. It doesn't come with much direction, but it was so user friendly that I soon discovered how it worked. I tried opening the software before activating the scanner and soon found that the software activates only once the scanner is in use. It is easy to crop and save the image where you want it. The choices are so clear. Finally I can scan old photos in albums and other items that would be difficult if not impossible to place in a scanner or run through a scanner. The hand motions in using the scanner take a little getting used to, but in no time, I felt comfortable using it. 5Great scannerWorks very well and you can save in several different formats.Software does a decent job of putting it all together. Just have to be smooth & consistent with your motion.Too bad it does not come with a protective bag, just for that the executive version would be worth the extra cost. 5Excellent toolA very cool device. The mouse works well and the scanner does a reasonably good job. It just needs some stitching software for those scans that have to be don in parts. I have an all-in-one printer/scanner at home, but this will help out when I am on the road with my laptop and can't drag a 300 pound printer with me. 5Incredibly simple and easy to use... maybe even fun!PROS:+ Works great on Windows 10.+ Quick setup process.+ Scanning a small document takes less than 20 seconds from start to finish.+ Great quality images.+ Color is good.+ Lightweight.+ Built-in editing tools is great and super fast.CONS:+ Scanning large documents feels clunky and slower than a traditional scanner.VERY VERY fast and easy to use for smaller documents such as receipts, playing cards, business cards, photos sticky notes, etc. Much faster than trying to use a traditional scanner for these kinds of things. Also great if you only care to scan a tiny portion of a larger document. 5Will not work in Windows 10Despite it being advertised as compatible with Windows, it is not compatible with Windows 10. I was unable to install it. The manufacturer's website states: "The issue with the IRIScan Mouse has been traced to an issue with the Anniversary Update. The problem is that after installing the update, Windows no longer allows USB webcams to use MJPEG or H264 enc..." This is true with other scanner mice I have tried. 2Good idea very badly executedThis seems like a great idea, and it probably is. The problem is both in how the manufacturer provides (or fails to provide) instruction, and how their tech support people respond to requests for assistance. I would give them a solid "F" in both categories. The instructions that come with the product are, at best, sketchy, vague and incomplete. And that's being nice. A plea for help to their tech support people has drawn a big "ho-hum" after 24 hours have passed. I have the device and all its accouterments in a neat pile beside my desk along with the Amazon shipping box and I intend to make use of that box to send back this poorly-executed good idea. Too bad. I would liked to have used it. 1Good item and good price for itGood item and good price for it, this scanner is a very good idea, special for students who have to write reports from different sources. it saves time and money. 5
