Customer Reviews

Best non-tasting water I've had. My house water is supplied by a community well in a housing development. Our water is regularly tested and has never entered the EPA's actionable range, but that doesn't mean it's great water. Lots of dissolved minerals plus other elements are present, even at low levels, so I decided to filter our primary drinking water. After reviewing various R.O. systems on Amazon I decided on the iSpring RCC7 system to install under my kitchen sink based primarily on the number of positive reviews and it's selling price.Setup wasn't exactly easy, I hate spending time under my sink, but through color-coded supply lines and lots of quick-connect fittings it was straightforward. Took me a couple hours to install but in addition to the counter faucet I ran a line under my house to my fridge so I'd have filtered ice cubes as well. Turns out having filtered ice cubes is more important than I had originally thought, one should definitely consider the Ice Maker Kit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008H71Q4C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) as well.I did have a couple problems after fully pressurizing the system however. My storage tank started losing its air charge over a period of days and my new faucet started leaking right next to the handle. The reader may now be wondering why I've still written a five star review. iSpring also fully supports their product warranties and I was no exception. After calling their service desk (EST by the way) I now have replacement part on the way and I have no doubt that iSpring will bring my installation back up to 100% as quickly as they can. I understand that parts do fail and a high quality customer service department is always worth a lot to me.Pros:Compact sizeColor-coded water linesExcellent customer serviceCompletely neutral tasting water.Cons:I did have a couple parts fail but please see reason #3 in Pros.Edit: May 2019The replacement parts did arrive quickly after my initial review and I was able to swap out the faulty tank and faucet and get back up and running. I still think this is an awesome setup. 5It was time to upgrade our simple 2-stage water filtration system! The old Sears 2-stage carbon water filter wasn't good enough. It made the water taste better, but didn't remove the unwanted dissolved solids. We were still buying bottled water, which taste better. It was time to move up to a RO - reverse osmosis water filtration system! NOTICE - This product review was originally published on April 17, 2017, but it disappeared so I resubmitted it!The pros:+ I happened across a killer deal of $142.78 with free Amazon shipping when I bought this in 2016!+ Pretty good customer product reviews.+ Excellent customer technical support! My questions were quickly answered via e-mail.+ Push together - quick connect fitting with 4-color tubing make the installation very easy!+ Advertised - eliminates the need to transport and dispose of bottled water.+ Advertised - filters 1,000+ water pollutants including common adversaries chlorine and fluoride.+ Advertised - thin-film composite semi-permeable RO membrane filters down to 0.0001 micron (a human hair is approximately 50 microns).+ Advertised - the RCC7 has a 75 gallons per day rating.+ Advertised - DIY filter installation with written instructions, video & technical support assistance. Fits under sink cabinets.+ Advertised - product dimensions - 14.5 x 5.2 x 17.5 inches.+ Advertised - item weight - 25 pounds.+ Advertised - Water Quality Association (WQA) Gold Seal Certified.+ Advertised - 1 year money-back guarantee.+ Advertised - lifetime support from iSpring in Alpharetta, GA at (678) 261-7611.The cons:- I needed longer plastic tubing for our installation. The provided 10' lengths were too short. iSpring will provide longer tubing.- From the installation manual: Water pressure to the unit is no less than 40 psi. If it's below 40 psi, you will need to add a booster pump. If the water pressure is greater than 80 psi, you will need to install a pressure regulator. Our water pressure was above 80 psi, so this added to the system cost.- We didn't care for the provided brushed nickel finished faucet didn't match our fixtures. iSpring will work with you to provide a faucet that fits your installation.- Water is wasted to produce purified water. The ratio of brine - waste water to RO purified water is 2:1 to 3:1. Meaning 2 to 3 gallons of water is wasted to produce 1 gallon of purified water. For those that are concerned about wasted water. Also see my waste water recycling notes below.- Advertised - origin, China. for those that prefer to buy products made in the USA.Our installation: Our previous Sears filtration system was installed in the garage, so that was the logical place to install this filter system upgrade. This is next to the water heater cold water source & next to the washing machine a place to run the brine -waste water line. The purified water storage tank was positioned on its side in our installation, so it would fit on a storage shelf. I opted to purchase an inexpensive plastic tubing cutter, a PneumaticPlus TC nylon PVC PU plastic tube & hose cutter. Not required, but it cuts the tubing perfectly making the installation proceed faster. Here's the Amazon link: PneumaticPlus TC Nylon PVC PU Plastic Tube & Hose Cutter Cut Up To 3/4" OD (Drip Tubing Cutter) (1) I also purchased a TSPITOOL quick connect release tool, which is also not required, but does make releasing a connector much easier. In addition, it will set the lock in preparation for the locking clips. Here's the Amazon link: Quick Connect Tubing Release Tools For 1/4" or 3/8" Connectors (TSPITOOL) It seemed like a waste to toss the old Sears 2-stage filter housing, so I decided to retain it with different filters... sediment prefilters. Stage 1 is 20 micron & stage 2 is 10 micron, both sediment filters. The output of this 2-stage filter connects to iSpring RO - reverse osmosis stage 1, 5 micron sediment filter. To keep an eye on the system water pressure, I installed a water pressure gauge. This is VERY handy, as the reading drops when purified water is being produced & levels off as the purified water tank is full. After a few cycles, you have the normal readings. After the water filtration system had been in operation awhile, I started to wonder when the brine - waste water was flowing. My concern was a failed ASOV - automatic shutoff valve failure which could allow constant waste water flow. To provide a visual indication of brine - waste water flow, I installed a Rotameter LZM-15 flow meter. See my attached pictures. This flow meter won't work as it comes, but with a simple modification (see my flow meter product review for details), it will provide a visual indication of when brine - waste water is flowing. Here's the Amazon link: Uxcell a11120300ux0019 1/2" Female Thread 0.2-2.0 GPM 1-7 LPM Water Liquid Inline Flowmeter Rotameter LZM-15 We can redirect the RO brine - waste water into a recovery container so this perfectly good water can be recycled. During the summer the RO brine - waste water is used to water our raised bed vegetable garden & flower beds. During the winter we use the RO brine - waste water in the washing machine wash cycle.Closing remarks: Since this RO - reverse osmosis water filtration system was installed, there has been no need to buy distilled or bottled drinking water. The flow rate from our kitchen mounted faucet, about 15 feet away from the filtration system, is 0.5 gallons (1/2 gallon) per minute. System startup, first TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) reading:tap - city water = 100 to 98 ppm RO - reverse osmosis water = 3 to 4 ppm You will have to replace the filtration system filters in about a year... the RO membrane can last a 2 to 3 years (depending on the quality of your water source), so it's wise to start shopping around for replacement filters. These can be found reasonably priced, if you don't need them right away & can shop around. I have enough filters on hand for 2+ years. :) Update - June 7, 2017 The RO - reverse osmosis water filtration system has been working perfectly! Since we installed this water filtration, there been no need to purchase bottled water. On my recent TDS - total dissolved solids test. Tap water = 110 ppm & the RO water = 9 ppm. The city water... tap water TDS, shown above, is 110 ppm. The RO brine - waste water TDS is about 20 ppm higher. It's summer, so we're recycling the RO brine - waste water in the raised bed vegetable garden & to water the flower beds. We have to admit the amount of brine - waste water was a bit shocking, when we started saving it, but that is the nature of the RO - reverse osmosis water filtration system. 2:1 to 3:1... meaning, amount of brine - waste water >to> purified water produced. This isn't too bad if you can recycle the waste water! The city we live in calculates our sewer billing on the amount of water we use, so it makes sense to recycle the RO brine - waste water! 4Great tasting clean water So I did a TON of research on not only the right kind of water to drink but the right kind of filter to use.I am a former journalist and have to research everything to the max. We were using a bottle service for a while until I found out that the bottles they were giving us of water had BPA in them...ugh...so we quickly canceled them and I began searching. I wanted not only clean and good tasting water but I wanted water without fluoride and pesticides. For me it was between the Isping and the APEC system. Both has great reviews and both would get the job done...I believed. I contacted both companies to ask them questions about the product. My biggest concern was about the container that the water would be held in...I didn't want the water to be sitting in plastic. This one is not...it is a food grade rubber...and unlike some reviews I have not tasted any strange rubber taste at all and we have been using this for a bout two months. For two months I have checked the PPM of the water at least once a week and it is NEVER gone over 7. I also like the taste of the water. I live in NJ and I would never drink the tap water...now we can. This is worth the money for sure...would recommend 5Edited review ::::tubing!!!!! This is my second unit purchased within 10 yrs only cause it was not in use for over a yr and neglected so we trashed it and purchased a new oneThe tubing always breaks. My tubing from the water sprout to the u it has a hole which has caused a leak under my sink to the point where my cabinets needs to be repaired. It both units a tube broke and I do not mis handle the unitAlso, I feel I have to change the filters every three months to have clean fresh tasting water that s too much 2Fantastic RO System ..... Superb Customer Service ... High Quality Made in the USA...! I received this promptly and in perfect condition. No missing parts, although I did purchase some after market connectors because I wanted to hook up my fridge and ice maker water as well. Very easy to install. The instructions are pretty inclusive and have very good illustrations. There is a great 16 minute video on YouTube which gives excellent step by step for the install. I did contact customer service initially because I had an in depth question about the exact functioning of the two way valve ( I'm a Nerd.) The phone was answered on the third ring and the gentleman I spoke with was extremely knowledgeable and polite. I felt like my business is genuinely appreciated. Better still, these are made in the USA ..!The entire install took a couple of hours due to the purging of the filters and the storage tank. Otherwise, the install was much easier than I anticipated. Also, it takes up less room under my sink than I had initially thought it would. Make sure to purchase a simple water pressure test gauge and a water quality tester to help in the install .... and give you peace of mind.As far as taste ..... my water coming into the house tests at 502ppm which is considered "fair" to "good." The water coming from this filter tests at 23ppm ..... Which is a significant reduction and qualifies as "excellent." AND, best of all .... My water now has NO taste .... at least none that I can discern... And, believe it or not, the RO water seems to have a different and more pleasing texture as well. My tasteless RO water tastes waaaaay better than the stuff in those plastic bottles and my coffee has improved immensely. Plus, I'm am now contributing far less to the Pacific Ocean Plastic Dump ..... Hurray..! All in all, this is the best water filter system I have ever purchased. Thank you ispring for a fantastic product..! 5Worked great for almost 2 years... We were very happy with this unit for the last 2 years, but all of the sudden, about a month before the time to change filters, one of the filter housings is leaking. It's not leaking from the seal, it has a pinhole leak out of the bottom of the filter housing, which ruined the bottom of the cabinet it was in. It's tucked away in it own cabinet, nothing else is stored in it nor do we go into the cabinet except when it's time to change filters. Thankfully my daughter caught it before it did any more damage. I can't seem to find a replacement housing for it without ordering a whole unit... 1Works great! Great value! Instructions could be better. Watch the tank pressure. This unit was fairly easy to assemble, albeit the diagrams in the instructions appear to represent several different models so play close attention to the attachments. The clamps and fittings are standard for units like this so if you are not having luck, it's probably you, not equipment. I have assembled 1/4 piping before so I know it can be fussy at times. The pressure tank comes a little over pressurized. I had to let some air out of the air valve to get it around 10 PSI for constant water flow. With too much pressure, it would run out of water after a couple large cups of water. The water tastes great and tested well below acceptable level with a TDS meter. I have had ours for 2 years and replaced the stage 1,2, and 3 filters once and it is still filtering nicely with good flow. Changing the filters is very easy. This unit exceeded my my expectations for performance at really good price. 4Easy installation Easy install. The system fits perfectly under the sink. I highly recommend this product to anyone. 5Terrific Filtration System! My water is directly from a deep well and has a good amount of sediment and metals in it. The way I have my system set up is with a whole house filter and a scale removal filter installed before the iSpring 5-Stage. I've had this installed for almost a year and it's been great. It completely filters everything bad out of my water and tastes amazing!! Another house who shares the same well as I do has a Culligan installed instead of iSpring, and I have to say hands down the iSpring water tastes 10 times better than the Culligan. The iSpring water also tastes better than the reverse osmosis water stations you can go to in town to buy water. The iSpring is great because there's no monthly fee, the filters are not expensive and are easy to replace, and anyone can install it. Installation was simple enough. The instruction manual is great, it goes into really in-depth detail. And there is also a terrific YouTube online that they created. Together those resources made this a great DIY project. I can't say I've run into any DIY products that combine a great instruction manual with a YouTube video, and iSpring did it brilliantly! I don't have any experience with water filtration and was able to install the whole system on my own. It took me a few hours and then I was done! The one issue I had was with the plastic spigot at the top of the tank. I was unable to install it so that it didn't leak. I ended up buying a metal one at the hardware store and using teflon tape. But I don't have much experience with installing spigots, so probably operator error on my part. So, no complaints there. And customer service... Terrific! Me being new to this whole filtration system, I've had a few questions. I've called the customer service number and mostly I've received a live person on the phone immediately. They've taken the time to answer some of my novice questions and have gone into detail until I really understood. It's been a great learning journey! And when I had an issue with my faucet leaking after a few months, they immediately replaced it under warranty. The USPS carrier had some trouble delivering it correctly, and the iSpring customer service stuck with it to see that I received the faucet with satisfaction, and then even followed up later to make sure I was still happy with it. Again, this is a great system and I think it would be silly to try any other system when the iSpring product and customer service is so terrific. 5Strong chemical/plastic taste from the tank The system worked well for about a year and I've been changing the filters out based on the schedule. However, the water developed a strong plastic/chemical taste. To troubleshoot, I replaced all the filters again and completely emptied out the tank as I do every month, but the problem was still there. I then tried turning off the tank and the taste went away. It looks like over time, the plastic bladder inside the tank starts deteriorating and puts off a strong taste. Very disappointing. 1
