Disappointing Gadget What a rip-off. The bottom knob that opens and closes the whisk came off. I don t know when or where, but after using two times, the whisk became useless. I saw these whisks in a store and three out of the five hanging on the rack did not have that knob at the bottom. I have other products by the Joseph brothers that I love. 1Decent space saving whisk This whisk is definitely a space saver, and I like how easy it is to clean. Just dump in the dishwasher or hand-wash with a sponge (when folded). The whisk is about 11.5" tall and 3.5" across. When folded, it is only 1.5" in width. For the price, you could get a better stainless steel whisk, however, this one saves space in your kitchen drawers and it can be used with ceramic cookware.I bought this to use with my ceramic pots, and it serves its purpose well. The only con I've come across is that you can't use this for mixing thick batters since the wires are not crossed with each other for support, so you end up bending them. But it works great with soups, sauces, and drinks. 4cook of the house I originally thought it would be a good idea for the two in one. Function One, Blending whisk(rings Flats) is a great tool. and the silicone doesnt scratch your hardware. Love that feature. Function Proper Whisk (open rings) is not as good. it really depends on what you are whisking. Dry Ingredients only works fine. Wet ingredients same deal. Unfortunately, with batters (again depending on the consistency) the whisk will fight with you a bit. 4NOT 2-in-1 The photos & description imply that this is both a gravy whisk (a.k.a., flat whisk for sauces) and a balloon whisk. However, the wires are straight and quite rigid, so I can only scrape a pan with the outermost wire & just one small section of the wire touches the pan. (A gravy whisk is bent so that all the wires & the entire top arcs of the wires, are in contact with the pan at once.)The handle is quite bulky, so it fits comfortably when whisking underhand, but I normally whisk overhand, so it's fatiguing for me. The only time I've whisked underhand was when my electric mixer broke & I needed beaten egg whites for a Sachertorte. (I have replaced the mixer, so that's not going to happen again.)On the plus side, the twisting mechanism seems sturdy & reliable, changing from one position to the other easily & locking with a confident CLICK.The materials seem durable and easily cleaned.It's pretty.; the colors are cheerful. 2Useful, but could be better Have had this a year now and use it often. This whisk takes care of my biggest peeve with whisks: what a pain-in-the-arse they are to clean off so that you don't lose half the batter. The problem is the loops aren't all that strong - so forget about using this on cookie dough or any stiff batter. Otherwise, it's a dream to clean and takes up less room in my dishwasher and utility drawer than other whisks. 4Perfect for small kitchen spaces This is well suited to the job and simple to clean. Is it the equivalent of a large metal balloon whisk? No, of course not! Does it do a fine job on scrambled eggs and other small, everyday jobs? It absolutely does. I wouldn't use it it I was determined to whip up meringue by hand, but for most jobs it works effectively. And best of all, collapse it flat and it's a breeze to clean! Really glad I made this purchase, I use it far more often than my balloon whisk, and because it stores flat I've now relegated the balloon to less convenient storage, while I keep this little gem close to hand. 4Versatile Whisk, Balloon Whisk is Flimsy. Joseph and Joseph is a great brand for cooking utensils. I registered for their line when I got married and I really enjoy cooking with them. They are dishwasher safe and are very durable. Food does not stick, in fact it seems to slide right off when while rinsing.The 2 in 1 silicone whisk is neat. It has the option to balloon up like a traditional whisk or lay flat. The flat option works wonderful, and the balloon whisk works well for liquids. If you need to whisk something heavy I would recommend a different whisk. Overall I give this whisk four out of five stars. I use it weekly and would recommend it. I don't plan on replacing this item because of how versatile it is.For more reviews check out my website: [...] 4First one came broken, replacement broke after one use. Made of cheap plastic and the packaging was a baggie that looked as if it were opened and stapled shut. The twist part of the handle was off when I opened the first one, whisk parts were all detached. The second one came packaged the same as the first one but wasn't broken. However, after one twist of the whisk it too fell apart as I was mixing brownie batter. 1This thing actually works! I tend to love Joseph Joseph products, but this was quite inexpensive so I didn't have high hopes. But the darn thing actually works! I use it as both a whisk and a spatula all the time, sometimes within the same meal prep. The twist knob is large enough to be easy to use, and it locks into place and stays the way you set it. The only downside is that the loops are lightweight wire, so if you're a vigorous whisker or trying to melt chocolate or something thick, they'll bend out of shape. When it happened to me, I just bent them back into the right shape and decided to use it for sauces and gravy. 4Ingenious & Extremely Well Made I purchased this item at a local merchant and after using it several times to make bakers cream, I immediately purchased two more at Amazon. The price was about three dollars less. So far, this whisk has lasted several uses at high heat and several runs through the sanitize setting in our dishwasher. The silicone appears to be staying where it was intended. The only issue I have, and it has yet to appear, is that the clip on the bottom that holds the whisk together will crack during repeated removal to take the whisk apart. I would say that this is likely to happen at some point. In the hopes of prolonging its life I have chosen to always hand-wash this part of the product. I wish Joseph & Joseph would sell the parts separately. Otherwise: I recommend this product highly. 5
