Customer Reviews

Incredible, especially for the price. This grinder is everything I wanted in a blade grinder. The red matches my girlfriend's decor, which was very important to her. The grinder pulverizes coffee (about 7-9 seconds gets the perfect grind size for a french press), and best of all, the stainless steel housing that contains the blade is removable from the base. That was the most important feature to me while looking for a grinder. It is super easy to twist it off, give it a quick rinse, let it air dry for a couple of minutes, and replace. It's not necessary to do after every grind, but after 15-20 or so, I get rid of the old coffee dust.I could not be happier with this purchase. KitchenAid did not disappoint. 5Poor Design! I brought this based on the KitchenAid name recognition. How surprised was I when I started to use it and realized it was made exactly like the Cuisinant that I hated with a passion. The coffee grounds stick to the bottom and it takes at least three try s to get it out and you end up with some of it on the counter top always. Not very well designed, could have used some input from the consumers. 1Below standard. Certainly not for grinding spices. Expect a mess. I wouldn't buy this grinder again. I use grinders more often for spices than coffee. It is messy no matter what I grind, coffee or spices. You push the top down to grind but the top cover cup well enough to keep some grindings from flying out. Every time I have used this, it has made a mess. It doesn't grind spices very well either. You need a good amount of spice to grind and then grind it for a very long period of time. I end up wiping down counter, outside part containing electronics, cup and lid. 1Looks nice, doesn't work as you expect! I didn't like this machine one bit. The coffee doesn't move around in the container so the beans closest to the blade become very fine, while the ones at the top get to what you want. I also hate that the lid doesn't have a rubber seal. So when you grind coffee it flies all over the place inside the lid. Meaning it goes over the silver rim and falls inside the machine. This is a pain to clean up as you have to blow it out since the base can't be submerged in water.Lastly, it's dishwasher safe but because of the well on the base of the silver attachment, water will sit there after the load is complete. I only give it 2 stars because it's pretty, but this sexy factor doesn't outweigh the shortfalls with functionality. 2Old style without stainless removable cup much better Ordered this because of its red color to match our toaster, should have paid closer attention to design details. Has a removable stainless steel cup, like the pan in a bread machine. Turns out that removing it is a big nuisance so we ended up leaving it in. Cup is much deeper than the built-in grinding cup of standard designs and has sharp edges (not sharp enough to cut you, but uncomfortable when trying to brush the ground coffee loose from the bottom of the cup). Overall, so much less easy to use than the old one we had taken to the den (where grinder much less frequently used than kitchen) that we switched them and went back to the old one -- have to live with the color mismatch :-), no biggie. 1Even grind, stylish, and easy to clean! If you read the reviews closely, you'll find that most of the negative ones are coming from people who for some reason thought that this would be suitable for grinding spices, which is not its purpose. This does great with whole coffee beans. Just a few seconds, and you've got a nice, even grind. Sometimes, depending on how much I'm doing at a time, there will be some whole beans that don't get mixed down toward the blade, but if I pulse the grinder just a couple times, they fall down just fine without having to pick up the grinder and shake it around like I have to with other grinders or blenders I've owned. The longer you run it, obviously some of the beans in the bottom will get a little more finely ground and pack down, but since the cup is removable, it's easy to take it out and tap it against a counter to jar them loose if you find you ran it too long. Easy to clean, and stylish to boot. I highly recommend this product. 5Doesn't grind evenly! Be prepared for a mix of fine, coarse, and unground whole beans. This coffee grinder is easy to assemble/use and clean, which is why it gets 2 stars, but it doesn't grind evenly which causes problems. The super fine grounds get compacted under the blade, so then the rest of the grounds aren't effectively ground further. If you try stopping in the middle of grinding and using a spoon or something to unpack the fine grounds from the bottom and mixing it up and starting again, it's right back to being packed under the blade in a second or two. My coffee grinds consistently come out as a mix or sizes ranging from super fine all the way to whole unground beans. 2It doesn't work as well as it looks. I bought this coffee grinder on an impulse because it looked well made and pretty. I was actually looking to buy a Krupp with which I am familiar having owned one for over 18 years using it at least twice a week. I would place the beans in its shallow chamber, press down the cover and count to 12 et voil . Perfect grind, no problem, it is was easy to clean. Sadly it finally broke and needed a replacement. That's when I came across this pretty KitchenAid alternative. Well, it does not grind as well regardless of how much bean I loaded with; the grind comes out heterogeneous in size unless I grind it for much longer time even when the chamber is less than half full. Perhaps the blades are not sharp enough. Perhaps it's the geometry of the chambe being too deep. I don't know, but I am no longer using it for coffee. I will just buy my old brand. 3Easy to use and clean Easy to use and clean. The detachable cannister makes it easy to dump into a container versus others I've had to scoop it out of, which always makes a mess. Efficient at grinding. Doesn't take long to break down beans or dried herbs. I find the clear top convenient to make sure I don't over or under grind. Pretty satisfied with it so far, im hoping it lasts because I'm a fan. 5Great grinder for a great price! Great coffee grinder for the price! My previous Krups crapped out after a couple years so I was in the market for something a little better to replace it but wasn't ready to spend $200 for a super fancy grinder. This baby grinds evenly and quietly, up to nearly 12 cups worth and has a measuring guide inside the cup. I love that the base is detachable and the lid doesn't get grinds all over. That was one of my gripes with my old grinder, it was impossible to transfer grinds without turning it over and putting them into the lid, plus the grind cup wasn't removable so you had to wash the whole unit. The KitchenAid's removable cup makes life a lot easier and clean up very simple. I highly recommend this product if you're looking for a good quality grinder without breaking the bank. 5
