    I was in hopes this would be the perfect spiralizer. I was in hopes this would be the perfect spiralizer....but it's not. I could not get this to work properly with beets or turnips. Two of the main vegetables I wanted a spiralizer for because I hate cutting them up by hand. This started to work on the first beet, but then it stopped and just bore a hole through the beet. To the point I thought the blade was going to break. Tried 4 other beets and 2 more turnips using various blades in the box and the same thing happened. It spiralized the zucchini just fine because it was a softer vegetable. However, I had to cut so much off the length of the zucchini for it to fit on the spiralizer that I wasted half of it from this. Definitely not worth the money. Did not perform to my expectations. Sent this back and purchased a hand spiralizer by oxo and it's perfect. Very little waste and so far has done all of the vegetables I have tried. I was not happy with this kitchen aid attachment at all. 1Perfect for that I bought this because it peels, slices and cores apples. I do 10 lbs of apples in about 15 min. We make homemade apple sauce for babies. Perfect for that. My only complaint is it take a little too much of apple off when peeling. 4Awesome, made sweet potato noodles the first night Awesome, made sweet potato noodles the first night, was so easy to use and despite others comments I found attaching the blade and removing it to be no problem. Also just as other users noted best to attach the food item to the stick first them attach it to the mixer piece, it just twists on similar to all the mixer blade attachments. Very happy with this. 5Spiralizer for dehydrating prep and Zoodles. Love it. The spiralizer has lived up to all its hoped for uses so far. I have made zoodles and peeled pairs and apples with no problem. I know I read some reviews that didn't like it. I will say you need to prep any vegetables to be the size the unit will handle about 5 inches long and about 2 to 3 inch diameter max. The unit also needs to be assembled correctly.The directions that come with the unit are sparse but you tube videos are available to show you how to put it together. It's pretty simple once you do it. The pieces aren't what I call heavy duty but if they are handled correctly they will likely last for a while.I am looking forward to harvest time so I can make dried apples and pears. The coring, slicing and peeling the unit does will make prepping fruit for the dehydrator much easier.In the past we used a hand peeler/corer for apples - this unit is much faster and does a better job.Pros: good for doing large quantities of similar size fruit or vegetables for drying, freezing or baking.Fits my 25 year old Kitchen aide mixer just fine.Has nice box to store parts inCons: Maybe not the fastest for single servings because of set up time.Directions are sparse.Have to buy or/prep vegetables for correct size to work correctly on the unit 4WARNING - counterfeit products on the market Who knew there was money in counterfeit KitchenAid attachments? I purchased this KSM2APC in November 2018 directly from Amazon and in February they gave me a refund and sent an email stating that the product I purchased may not be genuine. I decided to purchase a known genuine product direct from KitchenAid and was able to do a side-by-side comparison of the real vs. fake versions. I have posted many pictures with some descriptions at https://imgur.com/a/dUK70R3 and included a couple of those photos on this review.The product itself is great, and I suspect that some of the negative reviews may be the result of people unknowingly getting a counterfeit product. Had Amazon not pointed it out to me, I probably would have never realized it myself.I weighed the parts for real/fake versions to help people determine whether their model is genuine. My scale might not be perfect, but the biggest differences were:Main body weight without any blades attached - REAL is 758 grams, FAKE is 744 gramsPeeling blade weight - REAL is 33 grams, FAKE is 29 grams 5Doesn't work for Beets, Turnips, or Sweet Potatoes I had great hopes for this as KitchenAid accessories have worked well for me. Not the spiralizer. Like another reviewer noted this just can't handle beets and turnips. It appears that the blade provides too much friction or maybe isnt sharp enough resulting in the prong to spin out. I tried a half dozen beets and turnips, all with the same result. Also had the same problem with sweet potatoes. This just doesn't work with harder vegetables. Zucchini, Apples, and a white potato all worked fine. Very much a limited use attachment. I expected better from KitchenAid. 1Easy to use and durable I absolutely love this!! So far I made apple pie, zucchini noodle and spiral potato. Easy to use and durable. 5Use it more than we thought! I was a little torn about purchasing this spiralizer because I some of the reviews weren't the greatest and I wasn't sure if I would really use it. I have had it for a couple of months and now and really love it. It is very easy to use and easy to clean. My 11 year old son who likes to cook uses it all the time also. It has made eating healthier much easier. We make zuchini noodles all the time and the boys are always making sweet potato and regular potato curly fries all the time. We just put them in a bag with olive oil and any seasonings we like and then roast them in the oven. We've peeled and sliced apples for crustless apple pies and snacks. We also slice the potatoes for doing them rapped in foil with different ingredients over the grill or fire. It has become one of our most used tools in the kitchen. One note is that it does "waste" a quarter inch or so of the end your piece that is skewered to the machine. We cut our zuchini in half without cutting off the ends so the stem and end that you would have cut off is what gets left. 5Great attachment for the Kitchen Aid collection I have use this attachment to slice apples and potatoes as well as spiral zucchini. Before I purchased this I read numerous reviews about the quality of the machine and can not figure out what the low reviewers are talking about. This size is perfect for most fruits and vegetables you can buy at the store. I can see if there is a longer vegetable you might run into problems, but on the rare occasion I just cut it in half. It operates as quickly as you want, controlled by the speed of the kitchen aid. The peeler can be frustrating for smaller vegetables, but most of the time it works as intended.It wastes less peel than if I peeled the apples myself, plus I compost the leftovers anyway. Once I got into the routine of fitting a vegetable or fruit onto the spike, it really is a time saver.I bought this mainly to dehydrate, and have had no issues through a few bushels of apples. I absolutely love the storage box it comes in, keeps everything organized.Do yourself a favor and do your research to see if it fits what you need. If you do not like it, Amazon has an amazing return policy. 5DISPOSABLE: only good for ONE zucchini. :-9 In principle it is lovely... but the attachment of the MAIN piece of the attachment (the little skewer that holds the fruit or vegetable to the machine and turns it), is a flimsy plastic: it gave after ONE vegetable so that now instead of turning the vegetables so the blade could cut a spiral, it wobbles them instead, and digs a big hole in the base. So basically the whole attachmeent was only good for ONE very first zucchini, and then became useless! 1
