    DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!! Do not waste your time with this. I could not adjust the height on the one they sent me. I moved the grey locking sleeve up as suggested in the other comments but it still would not adjust. It just spins in place. Not giving you a replacement refill tube is sooo cheap. Talk about trying to save a penny. The little multi colored restrictors are a joke. Which one do I use?I had replaced my original fill valve with a Fluidmaster. The Fluidmaster works fine but is a little noisier than my original Kohler. That is why I bought this. However, in reading another review it does not appear this new Kohler is as quiet as the original.So a big waste of time for me. I returned it. 1Works fine. Some information from the package that I didn't ... This was the correct fill valve for me, an exact replacement for the one I had. Works fine. Some information from the package that I didn't see on the Amazon page: "For replacement of BLACK-stemmed valves for most KOHLER toilets." "If your old valve stem is grey, use replacement part GP1138930." The stem is the long, vertical part. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, this doesn't come with a new fill tube -- the rubber tube that goes from the fill valve to the flush valve. I followed instructions and reused the old fill tube, but it looks old and dirty. I'll look for a replacement when I'm at the hardware store. The fill tube can easily be replaced without taking everything apart again. Lastly, and as others have said, hold on to your old fill valve for reference, until you have the new one adjusted, installed, and working. 4Exact Fit Fit exactly and was easy to install and adjust the bowl fill flow using the provided flow restrictors. I used this to replace the original valve that came with the Kohler toilet that I bought 3 years ago. The original valve, which was a fluid master 300 and not a kohler, never did fill the bowl completely after flushing. Over time it did a poorer job. It did not have any way to adjust the flow for the bowl filler.Good price too! 5Works much better than Universal Fluidmaster Our original fill valve failed pretty early in the life of the toilet by not allowing water to enter the tank without tapping the top of the fill valve. We originally tried replacing with a Universal Fluidmaster 400 equivalent. It worked but was much noisier than the original. So we purchased this unit and saw the difference. They are very similar but this unit has constriction on where the tube is attached. It may also be different near the bottom. With the old valve, it filled quickly but there was less water in the toilet bowl. This new one fills slightly slower and is much quieter and more pleasant than the universal unit. So we now understand why it is better. We hope it will last better than the OEM valve (which we tried cleaning and lubricating to no avail). 5Same design, same possible problems Replaced the fill valve on my Kohler Wellworth Round Toilet. It's an OEM part, so it fits and works just fine. However, it's also the same design as the fill valve that had to be replaced and that is a bit of a problem, as my toilet is only a couple years old. I didn't expect to have to replace the fill valve so soon, particularly at about 10% of the original toilet's cost. The problem with the fill valve is the float, which leaks ever so slightly and allows water to get in there. After a while, the float will no longer float and the fill valve will not turn off. There is no way to repair the fill valve and it's got to be replaced. The same design means the possibility of the same problem in a few years. Kohler needs to redesign the thing. 3Worked perfectly, didn't even have to disconnect the old one This turned out to be less than a ten minute repair, mainly because I was replacing the same part that had quit filling the tank properly after 12 years of use.If you are in this same situation, note that as long as the base that connects to the water supply is in good shape (likely), you can just slide the lock ring toward the top of the valve assembly, pull the assembly off the base, and then replace it with the same part from the package. You don't even have to disconnect the water supply, drain the tank, worry about leaks, etc. There are YouTube videos on how to do this if needed. 5No issue with this fill valve's performance, but... ...a couple caveats regarding installation. As others have pointed out, the instructions are not very good. You'll need to match the height of the new valve to equal that of the one you're pulling out of your tank. The instructions state that in order to change the height of the valve, you hold the shank of the valve with one hand, while twisting the lower part of the valve with the other hand. Left out is the fact that in order to adjust the valve this way, you first MUST FIRST PUSH UP (thereby loosening) that gray, bulging lock collar that you see in the photo of the valve. Then, when you've adjusted the valve height, you slide the lock collar back down in place. It's an odd thing for them to have omitted. Another issue that torqued me slightly was that this valve does not include a new fill tube. The instructions direct you to remove the old one from your existing valve, and attach it to the new valve. This is simple step, but considering the cost of this fill valve, and the fact that it's "Genuine Kohler," I would have preferred a fresh new fill tube. 4No Need To Call A Plumber!... Purchased this item, and watched a "how to" video on YT. Drained the toilet tank.. Took the old part out, put this baby in its place. No problems at all! The kicker is, due to injury, I did this one-handed! So, yes, it's easy! Later, the toilet hissed and ran a bit, due to float valve needing a turn. Turning it solved that immediately. Also, hose had popped out of top of canister in tank, causing bowl to only fill half as much as it's supposed to. Popped hose back in, turned float a tad toward canister, and PRESTO! A full bowl for all! Oh happy day!... 5Worked perfectly for a Kohler Model 3515-04, super easy install Worked perfectly. I replaced this at the same time I was replacing the flush valve, but it's super simple.1. Turn the water off down at the valve behind the toilet.2. Drain the water from the tank (flush first, then either use a wet-dry vac or just scoop it out with a cup and towels)... this is the CLEAN water!3. Unscrew the plastic nut underneath the tank (may need a pair of pliers to get it started, but can usually do it with your hands)4. Adjust the new Valve Kit to be the same height as the old one, and the plastic screw for the new float to be roughly the same level as the old one.5. Swap out the old one (install the new rubber washer on the bottom shaft of the new Valve Kit if it's not already on there)6. Screw the plastic nut underneath back on.7. Turn on the water, let the bowl fill up, then test it out!8. If it doesn't fill up far enough, adjust the plastic screw on the float to raise it up until you get to the right level.Good luck! 5I bought this replacement fill valve for my Kohler class ... I bought this replacement fill valve for my Kohler class 5 toilet because the description clearly states "Used on all class five toilets'. However when I received the product the packaging had a warning label that said FOR REPLACEMENT OF BLACK STEMMED VALVES - IF GREY USE REPALCEMENT PART GP1138930. Of course my stem is grey and it was not worth the expense of returning so I used it anyway as a replacement and despite the warning label it works perfectly. Other than the warning label I would have thought this is the exact replacement. I gave it 4 stars due to the fact that there was no mention of a grey vs black stem in the product literature on Amazon. The attached pictures show you the label waring and my Class 5 grey stemmed fill valve. 4
