Customer Reviews

The BEST sink! Here's why and how to get the most out of it. We LOVE this sink! We're a young couple renovating our first home together with a high desire for quality, style, and functionality....without breaking the bank. We're both highly analytical and determined to make our new home amazing, together. Every decision is being made with much research and great thoughtfulness as we may live in this house for 50+ yrs.We both grew up with Stainless steel sinks, loved how easy they are to clean and make sanitary, and refused to do anything painted/coated. There are all kinds of fancy new materials used in sinks now and we gave real consideration to these new stone ones, but after much research came back to wanting stainless steel. But not just any stainless steel - we wanted good quality, easy to clean, heavy duty, functional and aesthetically pleasing. So what made us choose this sink?1) We wanted 1 drain rather than 2. This makes cleaning the sink way easier! With a split sink, you have to decide where you want the garbage disposal and if food ends up in the other side, you have to pull it out and put it in the other side or in the trash. With 1 drain, that is not an issue.2) In order to have "2 compartments", we realized we could just use a large bowl in one side of the sink for washing produce or when that's done, for washing dishes. Then we just dump the bowl water down the drain (with any food remnants included) and wash the bowl like any other dish. Makes cleanup quick and easy while still providing amazing functionality.3) We wanted it large enough to fit large pots, pans, and bowls. This sink fits my giant stainless steel bowl (for when I need standing water), a hanging colander/strainer basket for washed produce, and still has room for a small pile of dirty dishes or other washing needs in between - all at the same time. It's depth is great for large pots or bowls to really fit in deeply.4) The corners and base of the sink are rounded and smooth, making it easy to "rinse" clean without really any scrubbing required. Many of the sinks we looked at and considered had square/pointed corners there were difficult to keep clean (where I lived previously, the sink was squared off and we found it very hard to keep corners clean). Other sinks that have rounded corners still have such flat bases that the dirty water doesn't drain easily. This one is rounded across the entire base and makes it easy for the water and scraps to rinse right down.5) The rack that sits inside makes it really easy to rinse dirty water or food scraps down while still using the sink for other purposes. This means nothing get's stuck. It also helps protect the bottom of the sink from getting scratched up by other items. Originally I wasn't sure if I wanted the rack - I've had bad experiencing with them with silverware falling through and being difficult to retrieve - but the grid on this one is pretty well sized and usually helps me avoid dropping silverware beneath. My large bowl also helps as I usually just toss the silverware into it until ready to wash (when the bowl is not in use for produce, of course), but sometimes I forget and put it right in the sink and the rack keeps it up off the base, allowing food scraps to easily rinse down right below it.6) The 16guage steel is AMAZING. No tinny sounds, very durable, very quiet. We have a cheapo stainless steel sink in another residence and it's impossible to use the sink quietly. Plus when you run the garbage disposal it sounds like it'll get ripped right off. Not so with this sink - quiet, durable, and confident it will last a lifetime (or more).7) The cost of this sink is ridiculously inexpensive compared to many sinks of similar size which lack the quality and attention to detail of this one. We've been using this sink for a few weeks now and are SUPER happy with the purchase! THANK YOU, KRAUS! 5Solid 16 gauge sink. Buy Kraus you will not regret it. In terms of build and quality I just have to say this really is a quality sink and I plan to purchase a Kraus bathroom vessel sink down the road. My purchase was for a 'like new' used Amazon Warehouse return that claimed to only have package damage but no damage to the product (this saved me 30%). I have a feeling this is in part because the sink is so well protected in the box (inside the box and styrofoam it was in a custom made Kraus bag) but also it is so solid it would be hard to dent. The 16 gauge steel is the way to go with larger sinks and this sink makes less noise than our 2 basin sink did. This is also because of the dampening pads and the rubber coating that is sprayed on the bottom. Also included in the package is a template for installing the sink and I used this for our butcherblock countertop cutout which worked perfectly. The wire rack has been in ours since we installed it and we have not noticed any flaking or rust so I personally recommend using it to keep the basin free of scratches. We are not using the included drain as we installed a garbage disposal and we have not used the provided cloth, but a nice addition I guess. We are remodeling our home so I actually use this sink to clean brushes as we do not have a wash basin currently. The steel started looking 'milky' after about a month of this abuse. Using a non abrasive cleaner per the recommended care instructions I was able to polish it out in about 60 seconds and it looks brand new. The sink looks great. I will try and update this review down the road. 5Fabulous Buy... The installer lifted the sink out of the box and said "WOW... what a beautiful sink". He was really impressed... and so am I. The sink is made of a great quality stainless and I love the textured surface. At 30 in x 18 in x 10in it is large. I chose a four piece faucet and had the countertop installer put the soap dispenser on the far left and the faucet in the middle with the handle on the right and the sprayer on the left. It looks awesome. The protective grid is quality stainless steel and comes with extra side and feet rubber covers. Overall, I am very impressed with this sink and highly recommend it for both workmanship and price. 5Excellent customer service after 6 YEARS of purchase. Sink still looks new, I bought this sink in 2012. After 6 years of daily use it looks brand new. Here's the kicker. There is a protective steel screen that has a few plastic pegs to separate it from the base of the sink. After 6 years of use two pegs cracked and had to be removed, allowing metal to metal contact with the base. I wrote an email to Kraus USA explaining the problem. They wrote back immediately and shipped a whole set of pegs to re-do the entire screen. They arrived a few days later and the sink is now perfect again. It is rare to find both a product that lasts as long as this one has without any signs of wear and tear and to find service like this. Seriously consider working with this company if you're considering buying a sink. 5A sink that rises to the top Even with great reviews and high expectations, still impressed.I've had this sink 4 years, and I still love it. Looks fabulous with minimal upkeep. No dents, and I abuse it a bit. Hardly any scuffs, even from the grid. The sink drain is somewhat restrictive, but then again, I really don't want food going down there (no disposal, so wrong) so I just keep it cleaned out.Large temperature changes will produce a bit of a popping sound as the concavity flexes. But despite doing that to the sink on a regular basis, it shows no negative effects. With respect to other noises, it's a solid sink, so running water in it sounds soothing, rather than just loud. It tends to do a good job calming the water sound, rather than producing a cacophony. But that may have to do with the mount, counters, etc. (I have soapstone, undermount)It is deep. If you are short, that could be a problem, but that also depends on your counter height. For me, with 36" counters and 5' 10" height (and long arms) it is perfect. The grid on the bottom is a mixed blessing. Never had one before, and never tried this sink without. Maybe I'd like it more without the grid. While the grid helps in some ways (not sure what they are) the downside is that it gets dirty quickly, and is tedious to clean.I had a Delta Ashton faucet originally and no matter how I used it, the water stayed in the sink. My new Grohe is a bit more powerful and you can get some overspray, but I will probably reduce the pressure. Not a sink issue. What else can one say about such elegant simplicity? The thing with sinks is, you only think about them when they wrong you. And then you loathe them. I rarely think about this sink, except once in a while when I recall how unhappy I am with many of the original purchases of four years ago in my kitchen. The Kraus stays... 5Good Buy Remodeling can be a stressful and overpriced experience. Whenever I was able to select an item myself instead of going with the contractor's "budget suggestion item," I was happy. Buying this sink on Amazon made me feel I got a good product at a good price. It is holding up well. What I like about it is the large size, durable metal, and ease of keeping it clean. I didn't think I would like the grate but I tried it and so far, I do like it. The grate helps keep things from scratching up the sink. It keeps things clear of the drain somewhat. Silverware can still slip down there so it isn't a perfect system. But the overall use of the sink is a clean operation. 5Excellent Sink for me After 8 months of using this sink, I love it. I originally wanted a sink with square corners, also from Amazon. But this one was available used for under $100, so I decided that I don't like the square ones as much. When I opened the box, it looked brand new! After the contractor installed it, the sink looks beautiful in my kitchen, sturdy, heavy, and quiet!I got the "scratch resistant" version, which has tiny bumps all over. I'm not sure if it makes a different vs the smooth version, but I don't see obvious scratches. It looks like the day I got it. I cook 90% of our meals, so this sink sees a lot of dishes and heavy pots & pans.Might be a personal preference, but I really like the rounded corners. They are easier to wipe down. Some people complain about maintenance and water spots. Any stainless steel sink will retain water spot if you don't wipe it dry right away. It's similar to your stainless mixing bowls or pots & pans. Even some stainless steel appliances behave the same way. Personally I think the scratch resistant bumps hide the water spots better. I saw other stainless sinks at friends' homes with heavy water spots.Maintenance: The sink itself is easy to wipe down. The manufacturer includes a grate to prevent dishes from scratching the bottom of the sink. It means there's another think you have to clean (this is true for all stainless steel sink). You can choose not to use it. But I find cleaning it isn't too bad. I use and old toothbrush, squeeze some dish soap on it, the scrubs the intersections of the wire. Remember to scrub around the rubber feet and side bumpers, too. Then I flip the grate over and do it again. Rise with water when done. Take maybe 2-3 mins to do the whole thing. I'm also impressed that there is no rust on the grate.I'm very happy with this sink; it's my best kitchen renovation purchase. I can t believe the deal that I got on such a quality sink. Get it, you ll love it. 5Wonderful sink. It's quiet Wonderful sink. It's quiet, easy to clean and looks great. Despite getting an almost complete kitchen makeover, the sink is the first thing people comment on. Got the InSinkErator Evolution Compact 3/4 HP Household Garbage Disposer from Amazon and there is still plenty of clearance under the disposal. You can barely tell the disposal's running with the sink insulation and the disposal being so quiet. Rounded corners are a good choice for stainless sinks as food/junk can build-up in tightly squared corners. 5Waste of time and money! We updated our kitchen and bought this sink. We've had it for about a month, and already there is a ring of rust in the bottom (from a mason jar lid sitting there.) The rust ring *will not* scrub out! I am beyond mad about this!! Also, like others have mentioned, it scratches very easily. We paid good money for this sink, and we paid good money to have it installed. What a complete waste!!And, this has nothing to do with the one-star rating, but it is not smooth. It is a bit bumpy, so no suction cup will stick to it. We bought a suction cup wire rack to hold the sponge, but we can't use it. 1Beautiful, quality sink! I love this sink! (how many people can say that about their sinks?) I was pleasently surprised when we opened the box. I was expecting a nice sink for the price kind of a little better of what you see in home improvement stores. Stores around our house did not have a single bowl sink this size that is why we got this one. The sink is heavy duty stainless steel with a beautiful finish. The size is great, it is deep and large enough to wash my refrigerator shelves and veggy drawers! I think I can even fit my 4 yr old on it! If you add dirty dishes you will not see them, that is how deep it is. We added a "compact" size garbage disposal to fit the depth. The sink also has a coating that makes it very quiet when you do the dishes. I have a 33in base cabinet and it fit perfectly with the undermount on a granite counter. The installers were able to fit it. The sink comes with a metal grid, a drain with a strainer, mounting hardware, template and a dish towel. The drain, cover and strainer are so beautiful we felt sorry we had to replace it with the garbage disposal drain! I love this sink, it is superb quality you would expect to pay easily over $400 for it! 5
