As a beginner to making Falafels, this scoop has been very useful in the production of a consistent size for even frying. The long handle is something I like the most with the exception of the consistent size production. My only objection to this model is the short area to accommodate the thumb before the Falafel is released. For the price and the functionality of the Falafel Making Scoop, its a great addition to a kitchen which makes Falafels.
5Good price, works well, easy to use and clean
I have used this three times since I've received it, and has worked very wellIf you never used something like this before (just like me) it may seem a bit weird at first. What made it easier to use was pressing the falafel mix into the scoop (while holding down the lever) using a silicone spoon spatula, and using the edge of the spatula to level off the scoopI am still a bit confused as to how the falafel is supposed to come out of the scoop, my mix gets a bit stuck to the scoop some times. Although, I think that may just be due to my inexperienceThe scoop I bought makes two 3cm falafels that are around 2cm thick at a time. The shape and size of the falafels are around the same shape and size of the hash brown nuggets they serve in Carl's Jr/Hardee's. I liked the size, but I am considering buying a larger size scoop in addition to this one, probably the 5cm scoopTo clean it, I have submerged it in warm soapy water, and so far, the mix essentially falls off with light scrubbing. The scoop was easy to disassemble using a butter knife to clean behind the plungersWORD OF CAUTION: disassemble the scoop with plungers face away from your face. The first time I disassembled the scoop, the plunger flew out into my table, propelled by the spring, and made an audible thud on the table. Good thing it was not pointed at my faceDespite me using it three times, the space behind the plungers had almost no falafel mix. The springs stayed inside the tube part of the scoop, and the plungers came out. It may be possible to clean inside the tube using a pipe/ straw cleaner, although I haven't seen it be necessaryAll in all, I have been able to make several batches of falafels with ease, and have had no issues so far. The price is pretty reasonable, and I am satisfied with the product
5Ok, but not great
The plunger sticks often, making it a bit difficult to use for more than 3 or 4 falafel in a row. I would order something better, but I haven't seen anything out there available, even for more money. Oh well, my old cookie dipper will continue making falafel balls.
3Just what I wanted
I found it easy to use and easy to clean. It makes nicely shaped falafel balls. What an improvement over using just a spoon or whatever else I tried in the past! This thing makes it quick and gives the same results every time. Love it.
5Helped me make 100+ balls
This is exactly what my mom uses in Israel. I only wish it was a bit deeper. Still if you create a little hill above the opening it can yield bigger balls to result with crunchier, moistier falafels.
4Not needed, use you hands
Gimmick. Quicker to gently form in hand.
1Does the job
Mold is easy to disassemble and clean (by hand, do not put it in the dishwasher as like all things made of most aluminum alloys, dish-washing detergent will destroy it.) Makes the perfect size falafels for putting in pitas, or just eating out of hand dipped in tzatziki or hummus.
5Does not look as photos, release button is stiff and no useful product info on packaging.
The product seems OK. The material looks very rough from the outside with a dark color. It does not look shiny as in the product photo. I tried to read any info on the packaging but everything is written in some foreign language that I could not understand. The release button is really stiff, if you want to use it for an extended period of time it will hurt your finger.I suggest buying a better quality product that is made of better material (may be stainless steel). I could not figure out the material this product was made of or if it had some coating on its surface. Please see the photos I uploaded for the actual product you will receive.

1Save your money, use your hand
The fafel ball press wasn't what I was expecting. I honestly found it easier to just use a spoon and my hand to for the balls. This press leaves a weird crease in the formation that wasn't aesthetically appealing since I was using this at a restaurant.
