Customer Reviews

Shriveled up like a dried leafI've had this product for 3 weeks and it has inexplicably shriveled up, as you can see in the pictures. At first I was really happy about the good fit but no product should fail after 3 weeks. Some reviewers say the material is too thick and inflexible. I'm having exactly the opposite problem. Manufacturer should be able to get this right. Can anybody tell me where I can get a better one with the same fit? 1Very Flimsy. Rip-off - do not buy!Useless. The previous splash guard we had for the "In Sink Erator" Sinkmaster unit has lasted 6-7 years; the rubber was finally breaking down and needed to be replaced. This one is simply crap. The whole piece is made of thin, soft, and generally flimsy rubber. It uses maybe 1/4 the rubber the old gasket used; the perimeter has just a few narrow ribs and doesn't grip the edge of the disposal well, at all. It is the right size, but the thing is so flimsy it just folds and slips into the disposal whenever I turn the water on.VERY annoying that I have to pull the thing out of the disposal whenever I want to turn it on - AND I have to carefully aim the water at the center hole, so it doesn't fall back in while the disposal is running.I even bought a back-up, assuming this would be a quality part based on most older reviews. Yet another case of bait-and-switch, it seems :(. 1Not for "installation" wtih Whirlaway, but works adequately inserted from the top.I ordered this for my Whirlaway 584 disposal, for which the OEM splashguard is no longer separately available. This is *not* the same piece. In other words, it's not a direct replacement for the OEM part. The OEM part requires removing the disposal from the bottom and replacing the guard from underneath the sink. This part does not work that way and will not fit that disposal. However, it *does* fit into the opening from the top. It appears this is the intent of this unit, and for that purpose, it does work. However, the very top lip (visible in the picture) is plenty small. When inserting it into the opening, it is possible (even somewhat easy) to shove it right down into the disposal. Don't worry, it's just as easy to get back out. When properly inserted, it works as it should. So far, we have not encountered a problem with the splashguard coming unseated and going down into the disposal. All of the users have been instructed not to shove large items down the disposal with significant force and that appears to result in sustained correct function. My only complaints are: 1) that it's not clear from the marketing material that this is not a direct replacement for the OEM part, and 2) that it's a bit easier than I'd like to shove all the way down into the disposal. Both problems are addressed as described above. The positive of this part is that it does not require removal of the disposal. Just push it down in the drain and go. 4Exactly three inches in diameterThis is the splashguard, baffle that fits Sinkmaster, Whirlaway, Waste King, and probably everything that uses the EZ-Mount system by Anaheim Mfg. Do not confuse this with the "Universal-fits most disposals" one that hardware stores sell. Those are 3 1/8 to 3 1/4" in diameter, and they're too big. Won't fit. Looks the same but a little bigger, and it won't fit. This one will. It is exactly 3" in diameter. If your old one is pretty worn out, you will be amazed at how much quieter it will be when you replace this simple, no-tools-necessary part. I only knocked off a star for the price. This would still be a very profitable item at half the price. My disposal is a 1/3 hp BoneCrusher that I paid $23 for probably 12 years old.. We run it a couple times daily, but with really light loading. The trick to disposal longevity and drawing a blank stare when someone asks if you know a good drain cleaner is to use this sequence for food disposal: Turn on cold water in the disposal-side basin. Turn on disposal. Slowly add food to disposal, making sure plenty of water is going into disposal. About 10 seconds after you're done disposing, turn off disposal. Let water run another 10 seconds. 4Not all splashguard replacements are created equal. PLASTIC DO NOT PURCHASE!I bought this in November of 2016 to replace a very well loved splashguard that we had owned since the garbage disposal was first installed.I deeply hated this splashguard from the moment I put in. Food wouldn't go down the drain, no matter how much you tried to stuff food down you could hardly get anything through the hole. Even if you didn't have food in the way, even water would not go down the drain well. After a few weeks, I snipped the ends down in hopes that we would get food down the drain. I was now able to get water down the drain but the food was still not going down through the splashguard. For the past 2 years, we have been removing and replacing the splash guard several times daily to get the food to go down the drain. I honestly thought, well this is just how they make them now.I'm just now writing this review because I am finally getting around to shopping for another splash guard in hopes that there could be a splashguard that is just as great as the one that came with my disposal. Upon reading reviews of other splash guards I now realize what the problem was... this one is made out of HARD plastic NOT rubber!!Save yourself a headache and purchase a splashguard that tells you its made of rubber! 1These work greatI ordered this Lasco 39-9057 disposal replacement splashguard a couple of weeks ago. It fits so well and we are so pleased - I'm back ordering 2 more to keep on hand for the future. We regularly clean our disposal and remove/clean the splashguard. Over time the splashguard will wear out and need replacing. I looked online for a replacement and found this one.Size: 3"It fit perfectly. Now my disposal is quieter and doesn't spit food bits at me any more!Highest recommendation from me. Great product. Fast shipping. Appropriate shipping container. Item package was easy to open. 5DOESN'T FIT RIGHTPurchased to replace my SinkMaster splashguard, and it fit great for a few weeks. Then it loosened up, unlike the original one that lasted 2 decades. If the disposal is half full, turning it on blows the spashguard right out of the drain, with some of the garbage it was supposed to guard against. Sure it is Chinese made, like most things, but it is not the Chinese manufacturer's fault an American importer company wanted it cheaper. Chinese just supply what the customer orders. 3Such a flimsy itemI bought these a couple of years ago, so I was able to pull up my order and then reordered so I knew that I would get the same one that fit my garbage disposal but I could not believe the difference two years make. this one is so flimsy that it will hardly stay in place, I have lost it several times down in the disposal and had to go fishing for it.The one I got several years ago was really firm and sturdy and once you put it in place it stayed there, this time it bends like the new water bottles no firmness to it at all. What a disappointment. BRING BACK THE OLD ONES THAT WERE QUALITY MADE. 3DONT BUY THISI have never, to my recollection, given a negative review of anything I've bought online, until now. This object, though it is sized appropriately for our sink, fits snugly down into its proper place with no struggle,,,,BUT after having lived with it for around a year now, it's been so damned irritating, how it SLOWS DOWN THE WATER DRAINAGE TO ALMOST A DEAD STOP, no matter if the disposal is running or not. The vanes are just too stiff, or something, or perhaps the slots are too narrow, or the center hole too small, or SOMETHING!!! We end up having to use a wooden spoon to push food down the hole, and if we want any NORMAL drainage, we have to reach down into the sink, grab this useless piece of work and tilt it in the hole so that water can pass through or around it. The ONLY thing it's good for is in somewhat muffling the sound of the disposal. We've replaced the splashguard before, buying them at a local outlet that went out of business recently, and they were fine. DONT BUY THIS ONE. If you read the reviews, the "1 star" reviews, you'll see that MANY others have had the same disappointing experience. I do, however, have to thank whoever manglefractured this one, for a chance to practice writing negative reviews. Yay, and whoopee ding. 1Fits many garbage disposals that use an easy mount system. In the Product Information Technical Details of this Amazon webpage the Product Dimensions are 3.2 x 5.7 x 3.8 inches, but that's the PACKAGING dimensions. The Lasco 39-9057 Splashguard has an actual diameter of 3.15 inches and a rim thickness of 0.52 inches.I also ordered the Wast King 1025 splashguard at the same time and found it too is 3.15 x 0.52 inches, so this size seems to fit a bunch of garbage disposals including my General Electric GFC530V.The splashguard I found locally was 3.39 inches in diameter, which prompted my on-line search. While Lasco 39-9057 Splashguard fits, the hole in the center is too small to allow waste to pass without help. Of course, a person could easily make it bigger themselves. 3
