Customer Reviews

Great but buy your own screws to install Great for hanging a Bike. Easy to install, but like others have posted. The screws that come with it are crap. I initially ignored the reviews when they said the screws were garbage material, but after about 15 minutes of getting no where. I decided to look into my tool box and use my own screws. After that decision was made it took me 5 minutes to hang. 4Simple, effective, and easy to install. Nuff said. Not a whole lot to elaborate on this product. It s been holding up our 35-lb Schwinn comfort bike for a little over two years now. Installation was easy, I found a stud and mounted the rack to it with the included screws. Didn t take any more than 30 minutes to install. Vast majority of the negative reviews I saw centered around the rack not holding up its intended load. My guess is about half of those reviews is because of user error. If the rack is properly screwed to a stud, there should be no falling bikes. Just be dang sure you re hitting the stud. I used the old fashioned magnet on a string method to locate the stud, I find this method more reliable than the electronic stud finders. When the magnet sticks to the wall, that s when you ve found a drywall screw, which is attached to a stud. The other common complaint I saw was about the screws stripping. I didn t have this problem. Probably because I put a lot of pressure on the screw (like you re supposed to do) when screwing it in. If you re not putting enough pressure, well of course it s going to strip. The other common complaint was that the screw heads were breaking off. Well, can t say much about that other than those folks just got unlucky As far as placement of the rack. If you mount the rack high, the pro is that you save more space in your garage, the con is that it s more of a hassle to retrieve/place your bike from/on it. If you mount the rack lower (around chest height), the pro is that it s much easier to retrieve/place your bike from/on it, but you may lose space. Our garage is pretty narrow, so having the bike mounted low would cause us to lose some walking space around our vehicles. Lastly, the ends of the rack arms are cushioned nicely, so we haven t had any scratches on our bike. All in all this has been a great product for us. It s simple, effective, and easy to install. 5Works well, but throw away the screws they send with it. This bike rack works great. Mine is installed on the wall of the garage. It is sturdy. I screwed it into a stud so there is no issue with it coming out or bending. I finally threw away the screws they sent because the head immediately stripped when trying to screw them into a stud. I replaced them with good screws it it all went well. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the bad screws. 4Good Product, Terrible Screws This could have easily been a 5-star product if it weren't for the dreadful screws they provide. I don't know what it was about the drive slot but I literally could not find a single screwdriver or drill attachment that would bite into it without stripping the drive slot. I tried all 5 of my screwdriver attachments and none wanted to bite. It also tells you to pre-drill a hole using a MUCH smaller drill bit than what would seem logical for the screws. Just use common sense when installing this and maybe you won't have the same issues as me. 3I like it Works pretty well for me. I don't like the idea of hanging my bike from the wheels, over time I can see it making the wheels out of true. I bought 2, the price wasn't bad. The screws that came with them should work. I put a piece of 2x4 behind it to keep the bracket from digging into my drywall over time. 5Awesome deal, great product. great rack, I used different screws because all the other reviews said too. My bike weighs 33 lbs its holds it no problem, great deal looks cool in my room 5My recipe to use the included screws. It installed easily, and I had zero problems with the included screws. The instructions say to drill a 1/8" pilot hole, but that seemed too small for the included 2" wood screw's inner diameter. I used a 5/32" instead. I rubbed the screws with a little bar soap as someone else suggested. I used a properly fitted phillips drill bit. If the bit is too small, the bit will strip the screw head. Plenty of bite going into the stud. The mount seems great for lifting my bike, utilizing my limited apartment space more efficiently. 5Great build/price and gets the job done If you are looking for a mount that will hold your bike up horizontally along your wall, then let this be it. There are plenty of other brand name racks and other more complicating ways to store your bike, but at $10 each with easy installation this is the better choice. The metal is very sturdy and I don't see it bending. My bikes are pretty light so I don't have to worry about that... It can also fold up when not in use. These obviously don't have a built in shelf, but that's not a problem. Just find a piece of wood to put on top and you have a shelf. I ended up buying two: one for my Fairdale coaster bike and my T1 bmx.For those who have never done this before, be sure to get a stud finder and look up some how to videos online before you start drilling and mounting directly onto dry wall! The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the supplied screws. Yes, they suck! Go to Home Depot and buy some screws that are 1.5" in length rather than the 2" supplied. This has been pointed out by other reviewers but it is not black. It's grey with black rubber on the arms. 4Easy to install and it's a space saver! Awesome Got 4 of these from Home depot for $5.95 a piece. The ones at hd are Everbilt brand (store sku 470777) but I believe it's exactly the same product. Installation is easy, locate stud, pre drill holes and secure bracket. Not every bike sits on the bracket the same but they all feel secure. These are cheap department store bikes that have quite a bit of weight to them and these hanging bike racks have held up really well. This is a great space saver at a very reasonable price. You won't regret it. 5Incredible product with one flaw I own an XL frame hybrid bike and my wife has a small hybrid bike. I bought two of these and they're working great. Installation is easy. Looking the stud in your wall (if it's covered with drywall) determine how high you'd like your bike to be then place a mark in the top hole. I don't recommend placing a dot for the bottom hole until you've put the first bolt in the wall. Before using the supplied screws, make a hole with a 13/64 drill about an 1/8". Then use a power drill to drill in the supplied screw. After drilling the first screw, grab your bike and place it on the rack. This will let you know where to level the bike. Don't use a leveler, let your bike tell you where it needs to be. Once you moved the rack to where your want your bike to permanently stay. Make a mark for the bottom hole and follow the above steps. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars are the supplied screws are horrible. They strip so easy. However, the rack is very sturdy and fits both male and female bikes. To hang my wife's bike I first placed the rack parts that the bike would be resting on on the bike. I lifted the bike in the air to determine where the bike would slant. Then I installed the rack on the wall based on my above notes. Her bike is level on the wall just like my bike. 4
