Customer Reviews

A well made notebookIt's made out of thicker than usual sheets. The back cover is made of thick cardboard and quite supportive. Very well made, and I'd buy this one again. 5Paper fine, bent coverUnfortunately my notebook arrived bent and damaged but I needed it for school, and just put it under a bunch of heavy books to flatten out the bent cover. It was bent about 45 degrees . The note paper was ok, not damaged. 2Pretty earth-tone colorsThe colors are earth toned and pretty. I ordered a bunch and I think they re all tasteful. 5Get What You Pay ForFor the price ($6.98 at the time), this notebook is a great deal. It's durable enough and contains plenty of paper for either a single class or just taking notes at work. As a sidenote, the paper doesn't work very well with any kind of wet ink (i.e. a fountain pen) as it'll start soaking through the page. 4... high school (8 years) because it truly is the best quality notebook and paper that you will findI have been using this same notebook since high school (8 years) because it truly is the best quality notebook and paper that you will find. The notebook is expansive, however, it is very durable and the paper isn't easily torn, nor will gel ink pens bleed through. 5These notebooks are great. They have a pocket for holding loose items ...These notebooks are great. They have a pocket for holding loose items and the covers are really sturdy so there is always a firm backing when I'm making notes. Also, these notebooks are big enough to keep enough notes for a substantial period of time. 5Fantastic, very high quality recycled notebooksI try to lead an eco-friendly lifestyle and can't bear the thought of cutting down trees, even in "managed" forests, just so I can take notes on paper that will eventually be disposed, so I have a pretty strict policy on using only 100% recycled paper products. I also like to avoid any notebooks that have a (cringe) plastic cover. Be that as it may, it's surprisingly challenging to find spiral-bound 100% (not mixed) recycled paper notebooks that have an attractive cover, quality paper inside and are affordable. Well, Mead has delivered. The price was so fair, I ordered three of these with the Stone color cover and I was not disappointed when they arrived. I love the subtle, earthy color; the front and back covers are very sturdy; there is a handy pocket inside; paper is of excellent quality; lines are standard college ruled; and the pages are perforated for easy tearing when needed. The size is also perfect. I'm not one of those people with microscopic handwriting who can go around with a Moleskine. I need a generous page to speedily scrawl my messy notes all over and I like to be able to pack in a lot of content for the longest writing period possible, uninterrupted by the need to turn the page.In terms of durability, I took one of these on a trip recently and it was constantly being pulled out of my bag and shoved back in and was carried around everywhere it held up great. In fact, it still looks almost brand new despite the heavy use. Not long after purchasing, my boyfriend started admiring my lovely Meads and asked for one of the three I bought. He has put it to good use as well. We're well on our way to filling these up with ideas, musings and notes already so, when I'm in need of more sturdily-bound writing paper, I'll most likely circle back to these. Highly recommend! 5The twin-wire binding is an absolutely superior method of bindingFirst, I do not use a fountain pen. If you use a fountain pen, perhaps you will require virgin fiber, highly processed papers. I use gel pens.About the notebook: These seem to replace the Mead GRAD notebook which I cannot find available, but was an outstanding product. The covers are attractive, but not being somewhat glossy as the GRAD was, I anticipate they will absorb finger oils. The twin-wire binding is an absolutely superior method of binding, and if your notebook is important to your note-taking/creative processes, this is a very good feature. Everything about this "feels" good, with the exception of the cover needing a little more sheen/gloss. 5The hole punches are too close to the edge of the paperThe hole punches are way too close to where the paper is perforated. If you tear pages out you'll have about 1mm of space between the edge of the paper and the hole punch. A lot of the pages have the holes punched so that they are off the page too! Big pain if you want to transfer pages into a 3ring binder. The pages are sort of thick though, which is nice. 2Colors are very off.The journal is great, lovely paper, and seems to be very durable, unfortunately, the colors on here are very incorrect. I ordered Ginger, and the picture on here was much redder, so that s what I was expecting, however, the true Ginger, the one shown on the actual Mead website, is what I received. I took a look at the other colors and it seems that Stone and Terra Cotta were off, too. I included screenshots of the actual colors for your reference. If I were you, I would definitely buy this journal, but just make sure you know what color you re actually getting! :) 4
