The company I bought it from doesn't sell the stools anymore. I was going to throw out the stool, but thought I would see if I could repair it. Sure enough it is possible. I ordered the cylinder and it was easy enough to replace the old and install the new. 5Five StarsWorks great 5Three StarsI like the product but it don't rotate, I need my barstool to rotate 3Exact replacement, works wellThis was an exact replacement to the gas lifts we have in our bar stools. The stools are only a few years old, but several are leaking and will not stay up when you sit on them. I don't know if these will last any longer, but if I have to change them again in 5 years, thats probably OK.These do come in several lengths, so make sure you get the right length.It was pretty easy to change. There are several videos on YouTube about how to change them. The main thing is you need a BIG hammer. I started out with a 2 lb "dead blow" hammer and did not get anywhere. I then tried a 4 lb sledgehammer and the old lift came right out. Make sure to ONLY hit on the old gas lift, since the big hammer will dent things!To get the smaller diameter top piece out, I found a socket from a socket wrench that just fit into the opening in the seat mount, and fit around the orange valve, and tapped on that. it only took a light hit with the hammer to get it apart.I have 4 stools, and 3 of them need new lifts. I ordered one lift, made sure it fit and that I could install it and then ordered the rest. 5Great pieceJust what I needed to get the job done. 5
