Cube broke after 2 weeksWe loved this toy...for the first 2 weeks. Our son always plays with this while supervised and it hasn't been handled roughly, however, after 2 weeks the sides have slowly stopped working. Now the only side that still plays is the red/harp side. For 2 weeks of entertainment, this wasn't worth the price. 1Must HaveThis hands down is our sons (6 mo) faviorate toy. I hate noisy toys. Lights too as they just scream cheap. This cube, however, is amazing.He plays with it for up to 15 minutes many times a day. I never get sick of the songs. Like another reviewer said, it's the perfect size for the baby to use as a counter balance while learning to sit up.Every baby/parent needs this toy. If they came out with another cube with new songs/insterments I would buy it in a hearbeat!Munchkin, of your reading this please come out with one that has a Souzaphone! Babys dad plays the souzaphone! Or one with a banjo that has bluegrass music! 5I probably enjoy this just as much as our little one I probably enjoy this just as much as our little one, but mainly because I think it's cool, and I'm a Mozart fan. The red orchestra button plays the song and is lit up while a song is playing, the other 5 buttons are the 5 instruments of the orchestra and also light up if their instrument is activated. It's neat to hear the different instrument tracks. There are 2 volume settings. There are 8 songs (including "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman" (which is to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star), "Der Vogelf nger bin ich ja" from The Magic Flute, and ""L ci darem la mano" from Don Giovanni), but they're short (30 seconds or less), and they don't repeat. Press the red orchestra button again to replay the same song, press again to advance to the next song. I like that this newer version has curved edges and corners (instead of a boxy cube) so that it's easier for babies to roll it on a carpet floor. 5One of My Son's Favorite toysMy son loves this toy. When he pushes one of the large buttons it plays a song. Press two and both songs play. He plays with this over and over again and it has three items he loves - a button to push, lights and music. Ideal for him and I think for lots of babies. Note he was not strong enough to push the buttons until six or seven months of age but once he was strong enough this was a toy he went back to over and over again. Seems to be well made - it has been dropped many times and still works fine. Also the music is pleasant classical music. 5New FavoriteWe love love this toy! We got it for my son when he was 4 months old and at first he was only entertained with the fact that it made noise but no more than anything else that did. Now that he's almost 6 months it's been a new favorite of his. He is learning cause and effect so loves hitting the buttons and making it play, even with his feet when he's lying down. I also love this toy for the fact that it's perfect for when babies are learning to sit, my son props himself up on it and plays. Usually he just gets frustrated when he pushes a toy out of reach and ends up bent too far foward to pull himself back up. One of the few toys I would say is actually worth the few extra dollars and is far less annoying to hear repeated over and over than others. 5Best music baby toyLeast annoying baby music toy out there. I hate toys that make noise. And I throw most of them away. I'm more into wood toys, and toys that are "active" as opposed this "passive" (push button and listen) toy. However.... I had the old model and after 3 years it broke and I immediately bought this one for baby #2 to keep playing with it. It's the only toy my 3 year old plays with that she has been playing with since a baby. She jumps and dances to it and we've made up games to play with the buttons. In the dollar-per-hour-of-play formula I use to measure value... this one wins 5Fun!This is one of our favorite toys. By which I mean I love it just as much as my 1 year old does. She's been playing with it since about 11 months. I was amazed at how quickly she figured it out and "builds" her instrumentation. All her little play groupies love it too. You will definitely have these songs stuck in your head...but so much better than Raffi;) Also, she routinely drops it on the hardwood floor, and it still looks and works great. 5UsefulUPDATE...This is nice. Keeps my baby occupied for a few minutes. Shs is 5 mths. My baby is 11 mths now. She loves this so much to the point it annoys me. She will play it and as it stops doesnt matter what she is doing she stops and go press it again. I love that she loves it. We have been out of town a few times and i always bring it with us 5Excellent learning toy, stimulating classical tunes, safe for handling from 6 months UpI bought this as a Christmas present for my 6 month-old twin nieces as 17 years ago, I purchased the same toy for my daughter. My daughter played with this cube from age 1 until she was nearly 4 years old. While the sound quality is not as good as the original (that was purchased nearly 20 years ago), this toy is still brilliant for several reasons.This musical cube plays several Orchestra/Classical-style tunes and you can cycle between all of the songs by pressing the Orchestra button. As each musical panel (violin, percussion, strings, etc.) is pressed, that panel is removed from the song. This gives the option of listening to an entire tune with just the flute or just the harp, etc. ~ Also, there is a volume button! This was Not on the original cube. You now have the option of listening to it at a reasonable level or a quieter level. I am sure that this toy is one that my nieces will enjoy as much as my daughter did. 5A fantastic concept but cheaply designed and two have failed on me.This one came so highly reviewed and I loved the idea for my daughter. And when we got it, sure if enough she loved it. Although the first cube did not last long. It began to sound like the nearly installed batteries had worn down as as the music would begin that creepy sounding, slow music sound. No problem! Replaced the batteries. However, the issue still remained. And then it stopped playing altogether.Upon closer inspection of the toy, I noticed a few cheap design decisions, especially in this day and age especially for the price of $25; which is quite high for this product.Firstly, in an age where LED lighting is EVERYWHERE, the multi-colored sides use the same dull yellow light. Consequently the red, yellow, orange, blue, teal and green sides all pretty much look the same of being a night bright colored LED that matched the colored side of the cube.Secondly, while the songs the toy plays are quite nice melodies, they are using what I think is old school and cheaply made MIDI sounds; you know the stuff that used to come on cell phones from the 90s. Besides cost-cutting, I can't understand why really audio sound files were not used.However, I watched my daughter pitifully try to play with the toy which would rarely spring back to life just for a moment. Just long enough for me to remember how much she really enjoyed it. So I bought her another one. An while that one still is playing the music, the LED for the blue flute side no longer lights up. That's when I decided a review was in order.For a company like Munchkin to charge $25 for this item. For it to be so limited in it's design. And for it to have failed twice, a rating of one-star seemed to be the most appropriate review.my recommendation is for parents or gift-givers to look elsewhere for a similar toy but from a different company.Bummer really; great concept. 1
