Customer Reviews

Great for medium sized chopping and blending jobs not for small or individual amounts This is great when you have a fair amount to chop, such as making a salsa dip, but if you want to chop up a small or single serving amounts, such as a few cloves of garlic, the bottom blades are to high up and they don't get close enough to the container to catch the smaller pieces so you end up with large chunky pieces. 4Quick even chopping and blending, small and strong. I already have a food processor but it's large and heavy and not the easiest to clean. So it doesn't get used much unless I really really need it. Going on Whole30, I knew I was going to be doing a lot more food prep, and I wanted something that took up less space and was easier to clean, so I snagged one of these. I have used it regularly ever since, and it's been great! The dual blade is really great at chopping things fast and evenly. They are exceptionally sharp, so watch out when washing it!My only complaint was voiced by another reviewer, so I knew it going in: the little part that sticks down into the housing, which the blade seats into, gets stuff stuck in it. Especially if you are mixing up something liquid it gets up into the housing. It's pretty tight, so I unplug it give it a brief rinse, or sometimes use a chopstick to unseat stuff when it gets stuck in there, so it's not a deal-breaker. But it is annoying. All in all happy with my purchase and would recommend. 5Great Chopper but Learn to pulse lightly So I had a GE chopper that is similar in design that was 20 years old that had the plastic part crack so I figured lets see whats out there. The price seemed reasonable, especially if it will last me another 20 years. What a difference 20 years has made. This chopper is so much better in so many designs. I have only used it for a few things but all of them tested great. I did not even bother to read any instructions. Just rinsed it off and started chopping. First threw in a handful of almonds. Almost instantly it turned them into almond dust. Not sure what to do with almond dust, i threw in stick of softened butter and a few drops of honey and a few seconds later I had almond butter. Tastes pretty good. You could do this with cinnamon and sugar and butter and have great spread for toast.. Then I figured i would try it out on ice. Just in case you are not supposed to chop ice i used crushed ice from fridge. In a few pulses i had snow-cone ice. Or just finely crushed ice for any ice cold drink like a coke or margarita. I chopped some onions for an omelet. Instant onion relish.I even had leftover hamburger that i heated up and threw in it with a few squirts of mustard and i had a hamburger dip.The only thing i would say to new users is that it chops like really fast. If you want chopped nuts for ice cream or candied apple just one or two light pulse and look at the nuts. if you hold it down for more then 10 seconds you will end up with nut dust. Same with anything. If you want lightly chopped onions like for hot dogs, just a few pulses. If you hold down for long you will end up with onion relish. I has some left over broccoli that I mixed with onions and some seasoning and a little sour cream and made a great tasting dip. i like stevia drops for sweetener. I wanted a sweet chocolate low sugar treat. I added in almond milk some powdered cocoa and some stevia drops up to the top blade. added a little crushed ice and blended it. in seconds I had a sweet low calorie chocolate drink. The blade goes in and out easily. Be careful cause if you don't watch what you are doing when handling it will likely cut you. The container with anti-slip bottom is great. You can take what you chopped and close the top and throw the entire thing in the fridge. As far as durability who knows until you use if for a few years, but it seems pretty sturdy and easily cleaned.I have watched the Ninja commercials for years. Not sure this is the same company, but this thing really is great. Going to enjoy making so many things. Thinking of so many purees and soups that it will help make. 5Does a good job choppin' but... At first this was a blessing! It chops amazingly, but what really bugs me is that on the little connector to the blade, there's a little circular indentation certain foods can slip in when you're pureeing or super finely chopiing, and it's so thin, it's really difficult to get out, and it's like 3/4 of an inch deep. 3and it's ridiculously easy if you have the ingredients you'll wonder why you ... This Ninja is surprisingly efficient! We made some homemade hummus finally after being addicted to the premade stuff, and it's ridiculously easy if you have the ingredients you'll wonder why you were paying $5 a tub before. So we made our hummus in the blender, which is the only thing we had, and it came out good but yeahhhhh there's a reason the food processor was invented. The blender is great for a smoothie but it doesn't circulate something more chunky like hummus so we were left with a lot of stirring and hassle, so we grabbed this little Ninja Express to bridge the gap sine we haven't had a need for a food processor before and just want it for hummus. On the first blend last night, our chunky hummus came out smooth and silky just like the premade stuff! The blades on this thing are super sharp and made short work of blending a full batch of hummus (about 1.5 cups of beans). The cup and a half of beans pretty much filled this entire ninja so you could probably do about 2 cups at a time max, so this is great for small jobs but check out the larger Ninja offerings for more robust kitchen work. Great for the occasional hummus or other dip! 5EXCELLENT!!! If you use it for the intended purpose.! USE IT FOR THE INTENDED PURPOSE and you will love it. I chop onions and other vegetables practically every day. This is where this little machine excels. Takes very little space. If you are comparing it to a large food processor which chops and mixes large volumes of hard stuff like nuts, then you are making an unfair comparison. People who buy the wrong things for the wrong purpose and leave a negative review, do a great disservice to potential buyers. I have noticed this with many other products, a few negative reviewers made me think twice, cost me weeks of additional research, only to find that some people used a sandal for rock climbing or not knowing the difference between a slow juicer and a blender; there are numerous examples, but I do not want to digress further. The process I am describing will work with most vegetables, but take onion for instance. In the past, I often cut it buy hand, because the process of cutting it into smaller pieces, scraping it out, then washing it took longer than cutting it by hand, even though the onion makes most of us "cry".Not so with this machine. I only cut the onion into a few small pieces - five seconds. Because of the four blades, it chops the onion very fast (three to four pulses, i.e. 3-4 seconds) and evenly. The top section and the inner cover comes off instantly, even though it is very well secured while running. Pull out the blade unit (very easy, hold it by the top so you do not run the danger of cutting your hand) and run it under the tap, 4-5 seconds; getting the onion out directly into the pot is again very easy, because of the wide tubular design. No nooks and crannies that would slow you down. I never put it into the sink (to wash later), since washing it out - completely - takes less than five seconds. Voila! You are done. Your onion is perfectly cut in the size you want it (depending on how many times you press the pulse button, which is very responsive) and the three unit parts that I washed/rinsed in seconds are drying in the drying tray next to the sink. Putting it back is ridiculously fast. If I prepare a huge amount of many different vegetables or nuts, then I use the food processor, which takes a lot longer to wash out. But for every day cooking in a hurry, THIS UNIT IS FANTASTIC. 5Good for Puree, Not for Chop This review is for the NINJA EXPRESS CHOP. I think they should remove "chop" from the name. I was looking for a vegetable chopper, but the Ninja Express Chop is more like an insta-puree machine. I tried pulsing only once or twice, but that just leaves you with half pureed veggies and half huge, clunky veggies. The blades pretty much liquefy anything they touch. If you're looking for something to puree/liquefy, this thing works like a champ. But if you want just to chop veggies, look elsewhere. 3This is the best kitchen appliance I've ever gotten for $20 I bought this thing in 2015, I'm a single guy, with no kids, in his 30's. Any of the "negative" reviews that you may read here, I"m sure hold "some" merit, but are very particular about one minor tweak or the construction to the chopper itself, my goal here is to not water down any of the other reviews, however, this thing cost $20. This is the best kitchen appliance I've ever gotten for $20. There might be other appliances that are out there that are "better" for $20, but honestly, who has time for that, I don't care... It's incredible, I tell everyone I know about it, because it's hard for me to believe that this thing is as durable and it does so many things for $20. I have family/friends that have bought the Magic Bullet (a lot more expensive) a Vitamix (a ton more expensive) or an Oster Versa (way more expensive and very loud), that have complaints, 3 1/2 years later and this thing is still kicking ass, if you are looking for something that is ridiculously cheap and very effective, look no further... 5Works but poorly designed stress area The chopper works quite well, unfortunately I believe the bottom is designed poorly and ours developed a crack after only 5 uses. The bottom should be fully supported by the surface you're using on because it will be a stress point, instead it is suspended half an inch or so and takes all the stress of the downward pressure used to make it work. I've contacted support and will update this review after they respond.UPDATE: Review raised to 4 stars due to incredible customer support. They responded to me on a Saturday and within an hour already had a free part coming my direction. However, I still feel that the design has a very real failure point. I'll comment back if it happens again. 4Sending it back... The first time that I used this little processor, food became stuck in between the motor head and the gear that spins the blades. I looked everywhere for how to clean that area, but all the instructions said was "not to submerge in water". They gave no instructions on how to clean between the gears. I don't really want left-over food for the next time that I use the thing. 1
