seems like a pretty important thing to not have broken
Product arrived with the outer insulator handle broken. Could have been a packaging breakdown. But Since the idea is to heat up the inner plate and use the insulators to carry it, seems like a pretty important thing to not have broken. Going to go with 3 stars for now and then see how the replacement process goes and then in to the actual review of the product when I get a replacement.
3You Can't Knock a Classic!
This plates have been around forever - I remember my parents having them way back in the mid-1970's when I was just a kid. I recently bought a new BBQ grill and wanted to purchase some steak plates to complete the presentation so I was delighted to find that these were still around.First to note - these plates are NOT SMALL - they are approximately 7" x 10" which is plenty big enough for their intended use - they are supposed to be utilized as *ONE* plate/serving per person (it isn't a platter, after all) and is supposed to only hold the steak - not side dishes, not potatoes, not anything else but the steak. That being said, you can put an extremely large Ribeye, T-Bone, Sirloin or other cut on this plate with plenty of room. I have also used them for shish-kabob, seafood and other grilled meats as part of the presentation for guests. There is some considerations for shape, but for the most part unless you eat half-a-cow at one setting, this will hold plenty of meat. If you do eat half-a-cow, then you are going to have a lot more worries than these plates - call your cardiologist.Secondly, use the plate as originally intended - The original purpose was to allow you to make prepared butter recipes that would complement the marinade and/or seasonings of the steak. Put the plates in the oven to get extremely hot, add a glob of the prepared butter (either before or after the plate heating) and then drop the steak on it for that "sizzle" sound as you serve it to your guests.Third, some people complained of a dishwasher ruining the finish - why on earth would you stick stainless steel in a dishwasher??!?? The finish on these plates are beautiful and easily cleaned with a sponge and a squirt of soap, or even a sponge soap wand. Don't be so lazy...A little bit of care and these plates will last 30 or 40 years (if not longer); while my parents would blanche at the cost of them these days, these plates are well worth and fantastic to keep around even if your only dinner guest is yourself.
5add your steak and you have a great tasting (and looking) meal
Adds that extra touch when cooking steaks on the grill. Pop the stainless plate in the oven at 450 (or higher if you can), place a blob of butter, add your steak and you have a great tasting (and looking) meal. Holds heat longer then thin ceramic plates.Pros: Cleans up easily (careful with dishwashers with high minerals, might cause spotting) Stainless steal surface.Cons: The stainless plate could be thicker to hold heat a little longer, the surround will break easily so take care to not drop or bang it.
3Great for broiling Steaks, Chicken and Seafood
Love using these to bake or broil steaks, chicken or fish. The bottom plastic is good for placing the pan on after it comes out of the oven. However it is a little awkward to put the pan in the holder and tricky to get it out again. I usually don't bother to use the holder. Food comes out great. Broiling works great with very easy cleanup. It's as if you grilled it except you don't have the open flame flavor. I use these all the time. I always hated trying to clean the broiler pans that used to come with your stove. Just let these soak a bit and they clean off easily.
5Great steak plate and made in USA.
This plate works great for keeping food warm off the grill. It makes a great gift and is made in USA.
5Keeps the meat warm
Goes straight from the BBQ to the table. I use it as a serving dish. The plastic insulating part is breakable.
5Perfect Grill Mate
I use the steak server constantly, warming the plates as I cook the steaks, etc. Transferring the cooked meat or fish onto the server plate and then into the waiting holder is a snap and keeps the entire meal hot for as long as is needed. Dishwasher safe, they are ready to go when I am. Highly recommended.
5Five Stars
Nicely Made & they work Great !!! Fast Shipping
5Very small
I unfortunately did not look at the dimensions whan I ordered this as I have one that looks identical and thought it would be the same size. The platter itself is only 7"x10". Barely big enough to hold one steak. My error in assuming that this would be the size of a average platter. So if you want a very small platter, this is for you.
3T his works great and the removable plate makes for easy cleanup
Just what I needed to transport my steaks from the grill into the house. I was looking for a small platter to use for times I have smaller amounts of food on the grill. T his works great and the removable plate makes for easy cleanup.
