Mamma Mia! What a Great Device! This is absolutely essential if you want a smooth dough.While a standard rolling pin certainly has its place in the kitchen, this is great for rolling dough out in tight spaces (like my quarter sheet baking pan) and for fine detail work.The device itself is make of wood and rigid metal wire. I'd suggest the same care as a rolling pin. 5Excellent tool. This was bought as a gift for a 14-year-old child who loves to cook but was born without a right hand so using a regular rolling pin was just about impossible. Now she can roll out pie dough, pizza dough, cookie dough... I saw this on a cooking video on YouTube and had never seen one before. Of course it was not made with one-handed cooks in mind but for everyone who likes to bake. It works very well, rolls easily, and cleanup is easy as long as you make sure to use a brush to get the dough off the edges of the rollers. 5DIY Pizza Instructions with this Not bad for amateur pizza makers at home - but not a miracle tool.My recipes for success with this, is as follows, but do as you like:1. Defrost the bread dough (regular walmart dough is ok for me)2. If it's not risen large enough, place in the (turned off) oven with a small sauce pan of boiling water for about 30 minutes3. Flour up your counter, spread dough about 50% of the desired size4. Place on floured cookie sheet5. Do 20 more minutes on the oven with the boiling/near boiling water6. Place dough once again on floured counter7. NOW you can use this roller to get a GREAT relaxed/not-ripped pizza, roll it out gently with flour and should be able to fit very well on large cookie sheet.I've tried this several times with once-risen dough (skipping steps 3 through 6) and it just won't get your there, this is a tool, not a miracle device. This is just my way, but I find the 2nd rising really let's the dough relax, rather than stretching back into place.Beyond that, personally I do cheap walmart sauce, walmart part skim cheese (little greasy, but good flavor) and do about 12 to 14 minutes on 400 degrees.For the math folks: Accounting for walmart price ingredients and my local cheaper pizza places with extra cheese on mine at home, I basically save somewhere between $2 to $4 per pie. 5A must if you do pizza and other pastas I was tired of struggling with my large roller, I mean the large one is necessary and it works great, but when you need to shape a pizza in the proper way, the arge roller cannot do it. This is inexpensive, convenient, it works and it is of excellent quality. Also it's small enough to comfortably fit in my utensils kitchen drawer. I have already used it multiple times and I absolutely recommend it. 5More than a pizza dough roller I was first introduced to this roller by a friend who could not handle a full wooden two handle roller. It may take a little extra time to roll your pastry out, but this little tool is just right. Bonus...when you have a sore neck it works well to ease the pain. Dual purpose, one price. :-) 5Great little roller when you have small counters Priced right and pretty sturdy. I have limited counter space and I like to make home made bread and pizza and pastries on a regular basis. My big rolling pin is always banging into stuff on the counter when I try to roll out pizza dough so I got this. Nice and small to roll out 9" pizza. Doesn't bang into anything. The only thing is that it's raw wood which means until it gets seasoned with flour and stuff it's a little hard to wash up. Remember it will mold if you put it away wet or soak in water. Dry it and let it sit out or hang. That's just how raw wood works. It's not the product. It will also keep the metal from rusting inside the rollers. Really good product for the money. No one paid me for this review. I just wanted one of these little rollers because my big one was getting on my nerves. 5You will roll along for a loooong time I am very happy with this pastry roller. I used to battle with my regular sized rolling pin; I've always felt clumsy and fumble fingered when trying to roll out dough. But with this wonderful product I am in complete control and feel like a wizard as I can comfortably manipulate dough to whatever shape or thickness required. And as an extra bonus, it's a snap to clean. It came promptly after I ordered, I will have no hesitation about ordering from this company again: their product is quality made, I expect to use this pastry roller for a good long time with heavy use. 5Great for Pastry--NOT for Pizza I bought this as a replacement as I gave mine away to someone who was leaving the country. I mainly use for tamping down nut and crumb-type pastry crusts before blind baking.Do not use this or any roller for pizza crusts. It will flatten and most likely break the air bubbles and keep it from rising properly. Pizza crust should always be manually stretched. You do NOT have to twirl it--that's mainly done for show. 5low cost and very good quality My husband loves this roller and uses it weekly at least for making homemade pizza and pie crust. He says the steel bar running through the handle prevents it from breaking like a former one he owned (more expensive and from a different manufacturer). I ordered it for him with a little bit of hesitation, since the price is pretty low...but it's a great piece of simple kitchen equipment and well worth purchasing! 5You will have the PERFECT pizza! I put flour on it like I ... This small tool has made my pizza making skills absolutely complete. To make an almost perfectly round pizza? You need this roller. Get the dough on the pan and then use this roller. You will have the PERFECT pizza! I put flour on it like I do my main roller, so the dough doesn't stick. But just use this on your main pizza pan to enlarge it to whatever size you need. This is a wonderful tool! 5
