Customer Reviews

Bright! Energy-EfficientThese are bright little bulbs! The picture does show what the "bright white" will look like. If you're not about the intense kind of light that comes from an LED, I would recommend warm white. No heat comes from these so very energy efficient. We ordered 4 packs of these, and I have a few spares which is a good thing because 2-3 bulbs already stopped working. I'm not sure if it is the string itself, or the bulb, so I didn't take away any stars for this.5Update: Looks Just Like Traditional Incandescent C9's BUT With Problems.Used these in a 100 foot strand alternating Red & Warm White. They look just like Incandescent C9's but use a fraction of electricity (I do not like the frosted or diamond LED version of C9's on the market). In the 100 foot strand, the entire strand only uses 64 watts of energy for the total strand vs. 7 watts per incandescent C9 bulb!Only downside appears that these bulbs are glass with colored LED's inside (I have not tested it enough to tell for certain but I am treating the bulbs as if they are glass). I say it is a downside because you have to be very careful not to break the glass.End of Season Update:-I took down the bulbs for the season and noted that a few bulbs were very dim or out completely. Upon further examination, it appeared that water got into some of the bulbs and shorted out the circuitry inside the bulb. I would estimate that 5-7 bulbs were completely frosted over with water vapor, another 10-12 had a small amount of water present. I fully expect 25% of the bulbs to fail during the off season (water vapor coroding the circuit boards in the bulb). So minus 2 stars for poor quality.-My other gripe is that a vast majority of the lighting was emitting up from the tip of the bulb. In my setup, the bulbs were pointed to the sky and at night, i could tell a majority of the light was beaming upward by the amount of light reflecting off my trees. These would be great for runway lighting if only they were reliable. Minus 1 star.-They are colored glass, so props for trying to maintain the traditional C9 bulb look.2These Bulbs are AWESOME! We Used them to replace our C9 bulbs ...These Bulbs are AWESOME! We Used them to replace our C9 bulbs that we put up around our eaves. These bulbs look exactly like the incandescent C9's that we replaced (only not worn and chipping paint lol). The color is wonderful! Also, I am one of the lucky few that can "see" the flicker in some LED bulbs - and I have no such problem with these bulbs. These are definitely worth the cost!5Look like real incandescent bulbs. These have a nice warm color like the real deal. Love that the bulb is made of glass to enhance that traditonal look. Disappointed that several were broken in each box but would still recommend just make sure to test before hanging them. Love that you can connect a lot more strings together without blowing a fuse.4These look beautiful and if cost or breakage isn't an issue I ...These look incredible and very hard to distinguish between these and original incandescent lights even when side-by-side on the same strand. Due to the cost I eventually went with a different brand that were also well lit but had a plastic shell as I often break bulbs when installing on the eves of my home. These look beautiful and if cost or breakage isn't an issue I highly recommend.4HIGHLY RECOMMEND ! ! !These are nice bright C-9 bulbs. Definitely as bright as incandescent bulbs. They have a smooth glass bulb, Which is breakable. And they have 5 LED's in the center at filament height. Side-by-side, they are almost identical to incandescent C-9's. BUT the COLORS are what I'm here to talk about. They are just beautiful & with true color that you haven't seen on C-9's in years. I've been buying these now for 3 years, Slowly changing out the incand. for the LED to see how the held up & if they fade like the Chinese incand. that I've been getting from Lowes & Home Depo. (Almost clear within a 2 year run). These LED's: Blue are blue & Green are green. The incand. that I bought 3 years ago are identical clear now with no idea of the original color. The LED Red's & Amber are perfect matches. And I threw in a few purple & pink to add a little spice to the traditional color mix. I've done about 400 of the 500 plus around the perimeter of my house & garage roofs at $2.00 per bulb. Now I've got neighbors stopping & asking where I got them. They are the same C-9 lights in the same strands on the same roof line that I've put up for 39 years here, BUT the LED colors from Novelty have made all the difference in the look. And now I've got colors that pop & at a small fraction of the wattage cost. If they last like I hope to report later, I've found my answer to the junk light problem. Next year I will be back to buy Novelty's WHITE light socket strands so they match the white guttering & facials they are against (and be gone with those aggravating plugs & fuse holders--cheap junk). Buy them, You won't be disappointed.p.s. I would like to see that free shipping again through AMAZON.Thanks for listening to my raving.UPDATE Jan. 2020Had a few bulbs get water inside (They seem completely sealed) , But NOVELTY more than took care of the problem & all is good in the world again. EXCELLENT company to work with. Still looking Beautiful years later. Caution: glass is fragile, But I wouldn't want plastic that will fade in the sun.5Color is closer to orange than warm white.Had these bulbs for a couple years now. Price per bulb is a little expensive but they are also a niche item. These were the only ones I've found that are "warm" LED with clear, untextured housings. We wanted a traditional warm white incandescent look with LED energy efficiency. Unfortunately, the color they produce is much too orange for our preference. In the photo, the porch lights are cool white and the upward facing brick lights are warm white incandescent. In the photo, these LED bulbs appear to be an acceptable warm white color but in person they have a distinct orange color. When neighboring homes have true warm white incandescent bulbs, the orange color becomes very noticeable. The glass bulbs durability are just okay. We broke several of them taking them down the first year. The base of the bulbs did not rust at all.None of the lights have stopped working.4Best looking christmas bulbs I have seenWe did our roofline with the multi colored bulbs last year. Expensive, but certainly the best looking lights out of any we have seen driving around. They are glass so they will break if you aren't careful (I have certainly broken a few.) Had a few bulbs (out of an order of 125 bulbs go out or develop condensation but the seller made it right.5Nice looking LED C9 BulbsI bought enough bulbs to run C9 lights lining my gutters on the front of my house. They are clear glass bulbs with LEDs inside. The warm white color is slightly more yellow in color than the incandescent 7w bulbs that they are replacing, and they are slightly dimmer than the incandescent bulbs, but pretty comparable in brightness. The lights are definitely directional, so it would be best to have the tip of the bulb facing outward instead of upright to get the most out of the light. They look great, cast a nice soft light, and look a lot like a traditional bulb which was exactly the effect that I was hoping for. The 25 pack comes in a cardboard box with each bulb in an individual cardboard box inside to keep them secure during shipping. They all arrived intact and all 150 bulbs worked, however some needed to be tightened a bit more in the socket to make sure that they made good contact, and I had to move some to different sockets to make them work. I noticed that the clear glue used to hold the glass to the base was sloppy on some, as I had one that wouldn't light at all initially until I scraped some of the glue off of the base, but it worked perfectly after that. A string of 25 bulbs measures 17W on my Kill-a-Watt meter, compared to 187W for 25 incandescents. Overall I am very happy with them so far and am excited to see them up on the house for the Holidays. I plan to give an update after the season to share how well they held up.UPDATEI had the lights up for about 6 weeks. In that time, 3 burned out and one became very dim. Once I took all of the lights down, I noticed that most of those that had failed had allowed water to seep inside. Another 4 also allowed water inside of the bulb, although they were still lighting up. I did purchase and use rubber C9 bulb gaskets on each bulb, which I believe probably prevented even more from leaking. Overall, they look like traditional C9 bulbs while consuming far less power, but I am slightly disappointed by the failure rate considering the high cost per bulb.3LED Replacement for GE C9 incandescent (Merry Bright Lamps)I purchased 25 bulbs each of 4 colors - I will compare all 4 to the incandescent bulbs. Red - similar brightness, but a richer color. Green - Very similar. Blue - the LED was brighter and had a richer deeper color. Yellow - about one half as bright but still looked OK in my outdoor display. Very pleased overall. about one tenth the power so I could afford to use them.5
