Customer Reviews

The Best By FarGreat products. I'm retired from the nursery business and have used a lot of different pruners of various types and brands. Okatsune is simply by far the best. I don't use anything else if I can find an Okatsune product appropriate for the task. 5Great Pruners for the MoneyWas wanting something more cost-effective than Felco, especially for the casual pruner. These are great. The sound the latch makes (which is conveniently located at the base of the handles, rather than near the blades) along with the sound the blade makes when you cut a limb, is intoxicating.Note: it is very easy to unlatch the pruners by flicking the base of the handles alongside your thigh. I recommend doing this way for one-handed use. Also, a small issue, but not enough to degrade my rating, is your hand tends to slide forward while using these, but having emailed the manufacturer, it is supposed to be as if you are riding a bike and your legs just barely touch the ground in-between peddling. Something about zin-like control. Perfect explanation coming from a Japanese garden tool company. 5Stays sharp and and pleasant to useThis is my second Okatsune shear. I bought the smaller 101 earlier and had been very pleased with it. Very easy to use, very comfortable in hand and has a superb locking mechanism that can be operated with one hand. My wife uses the smaller one since it fits her had better. In fact she wanted me to get one for myself so that she does not have to share hers. Haha considering she thought it was a bit pricey when I got the first one (101) for myself actually. Both sizes are comfortable for me. Wipe it clean/dry when done for the day. You really do not want this beauty to rust. The red/white handle is a great idea since it makes it easier to locate if you leave it somewhere in the yard. 5The best! These are the best pruners I've ever used. My family owns and operates a Christmas tree farm and these are used very frequently. They are the best for cutting greenery for wreaths. My husband won our first pair at a county tree meeting and they lay abandoned for a year before I claimed them. After my husband saw how awesome they are, he had me order several more pair and they are now his go-to clippers. 5As good as felco, better in some regards. The simple style and quality construction make this pruner one of the best, the slim style is refreshing compared to somthing like felcos that are pretty bulky though ergonomic. The lock just seems correct , its robust, stores out of the way, and functional one handed. The spring is a feature that is common on japanese style pruners and it is superior! Some complaign about the possible rust that can develop, and like any high grade knife or tool steel, they are subject to rust. Steel that wont rust under normal conditions, yet be as sharp or hold an edge as long or as well as these pruners would be so expensive no one would buy them. As someone who was in the landscape / tree care industries for 13 years, you should be treating your cutting tools with a mild solution of bleach and water after use, and reoiling with spray on cooking spray. This prevents spreading anything and a non petroleum based food grade oil is safe on the plants. 5Wonderfully Sharp/Fit My Hand PerfectlyThese were suggested by a man who has 2.5 acres of Japanese MAples and other bushes and trees - called The Maple Walk in Charlotte, NC. IT's the only pair he ever uses for pruning, which he does everyday. He has had them for years and they are still very sharp. He cleans them daily with denatured alcohol to keep any nasty stuff from going from tree to tree. This is the best pair of pruning shears I have every experienced. Highly recommend them 5Good qualityVery sharp pruners. I tried them out about half hour until my hand got sore, cleaned them followed with A light cote of Pam cooking spray to prevent rust. I had to eventually sharpen them due to me accidently getting blade in woven wire fence while cutting blackberry briers out of the fence. I used the Corona pruner sharpener, now pruners will cut A paper store receipt like A pair of scissors. 5These are some of the best pruning shears you can getThese are some of the best pruning shears you can get. Sometimes there are branches that frankly merit the use of loppers, but if I'm being lazy and all I have on me are the Okatsunes, I know they'll cut through it without missing a beat. These razor sharp babies will shear through most objects so don't forget the gloves! The latch mechanism can be opened or closed against your leg, letting you easily open and close them one-handed (much easier, for example, than the Corona 3180s, which are solid pruners but not in the same league as these beauties. You simply will not find a product that is its equal for the price, and it will put to shame many more expensive secateurs. 5Omg, sex. These pruners are so freaking sexy. The sound they make when you cut is entrancing. They cut so well and are engineered and produced with such precision. Like everyone else, I do say they slide in your hand after a bit but this can be prevented with a couple pieces of grip tape from a skateboard on the handle. This is one of those things you get and like so much you want to buy it as gifts for everyone else. Buy these now. 5Good Pruner! Good Price! This little cutter is really nice and a great substitute for the Felco and all those fake telcos out there. It is stream-lined and comfortable and cuts everything a good Felco can. Nice sharp blade but it does need some lubricant to deter rusting.I have been using it for three months and I highly recommend it.It's difficult to find a good pair at a reasonable price.Reviews are all over the place. I'm a gardener and have been one for quite a long time. :) 5
