This item looks great but is useless This item looks great but is useless. It is ridiculously difficult to open. Once it's opened, if you don't shut it all the way, it leaks. If you do, it is so cumbersome to open again. It is so bad that after 2 tries I stopped using it. Was going to return but noticed that it's over 30 days since I purchased it. That will teach me to try it when first purchased. 1Not my favorite cocktail shaker The cocktail shaker does its job, for sure, but the top does not make a good seal. When I shake it, the measuring cover top tends to leak. This is especially the case when I put seltzer or proseco in the mix. The drink leaks out, sometimes the top cover starts coming off even if I am holding it down. It's a bit of a disappointment. 3Great shaker I like everything about this, except that it s a little hard to measure if you have complicated cocktails. If it s sometbing simple, you re good otherwise you ll need something else to do the measurements. 4It leaks I bought this plastic cocktail shaker for use on the patio. It is an attractive design and the insulation does help keep drinks chilled. However, it doesn t seal well so when you shake your drink some leaks out. If you use the cap as a jigger as suggested the residual ingredients in the cap drip down the side. I will continue to use it just won t shake as vigorously or use the top to measure. 3Can't recommend OXO's design philosophy is supposed to be universal design - easily used by most people. I have used many OXO products because they are comfortable and functional and easy to use. The top of this cocktail shaker was almost impossible to get off. And then it was hard to get back on. Can't recommend. 2Add Some Class To Your Kitchen Tools - I used to use a jar to mix eggs for omelettes but got one of "those" ideas. Use a cocktail shaker. This is a 16 ounce shaker, big enough for 5 or 6 eggs, or small enough for 2 or 3. Add a tablespoon of water, or milk, and MIX. A three cheese omelette with salsa on top coming up. Bon Appetit.A word of caution, just like the instructions say: DON'T PUT THIS SHAKER IN THE DISH WASHER. 5Nice that my hands don't freeze to it like a ... Makes a good drink.Feels kind of cheap so I probably should have sprung for the double walled stainless one.The lids are pretty snug so its a little hard to work with if you have wet hands. 3It s plastic! And difficult to open Bad surprise after opening the box: it s totally plastic. It s like an expensive coffee mug. Yes double wall insulated but nowhere in the description does it mention plastic. Also, with OXO being dedicated to easy to use design, youd expect this to have SOME feature in that family. Nope. It s hard to open, doesn t close tightly, and the smooth plastic is slippery when wet. Fails all the basic needs of a cocktail shaker. But it s $10 and others are expensive so I guess you almost get what you pay for. 2OXO makes decent bar and kitchen tools... I don't typically look for brand names, but I have found with past OXO items that they're pretty well made and durable for long term use. I didn't know that there was a cocktail shaker made by them until recently and so I gave it a try. I like how intuitive they make each part of the shaker. For example, the cap has clear measurement lines for common ounce pours for liquor when making a mixed drink. It's pretty useful when wanting to keep the amount of barware tools used minimal and thus less left to clean between drinks. The texture of the removable parts for the jigger cap and top of the strainer are pretty easy to hold even if one's hands gets wet from washing between drink mixes. Overall, it's a pretty sturdy and self contained tool that made it a great item to have around the bar or kitchen for casual home gatherings. 5Not bad for a "starter" shaker, but not great either I bought this because I didn't need something fancy but also because there were a lot of mixed reviews for metal shakers. I like the construction (double walled, snug fit between cap and cup, graduated levels on the cap), except for one major flaw. I like to wash any dishware before using it for the first time, but after lightly washing this by hand, I noticed that a good seal was lacking between the inner and out plastic layers, so water got in the air-gapped space and would not get out or dry off. I understand it's plastic but to already be dealing with this before the first use is bad. I do not want to deal with water pooling inside over time.Had this shaker not had the water issue, i would give it 4 to 5 stars. Ideally, I would use this is as a starter shaker that could travel on road trips with me. However, in the near future I'll probably have to invest in a higher quality metal one. 3
