Compared to the Older Model, There are Improvements, But Still Has Design Flaws I had the previous Good Grips Toothbrush Holder, but it broke so I needed a new one. After a thorough search for enclosed toothbrush brush holder, I couldn't find one that I liked, so I chose to go with OXO again. There are improvements in this model for sure including:1) there are vented holes in the bottom that allows water to drain. The previous model had no such vents and would accumulate mold and water without cleaning it periodically. GROSS!2) The previous model only held 3 toothbrushes and a toothpaste. This model holds 4 and is much taller.3) The previous model had a cup that you held and pressed down in order to open to see the toothbrushes and toothpaste. This model has a small tab that you just open up and reveals everything. In this model, there is really no good place to store floss without it coming flying out as you open the top compartment, which is a disadvantage to me.4) This model has foam finger tips that line each toothbrush compartment to keep them in place. That is great if you want to use traditional, manual toothbrushes, but if you are like me and use electric toothbrushes, the compartments are too deep and the toothbrush heads fall to the bottom and then are hard to get out. I use Oral-B electric toothbrushes and in order to make this holder work, I stuff the compartments with makeup wedges and that works well because it doesn't absorb water and any water goes straight to the vented area to drain out of the bottom, but it is still a hassle to have to change those frequently to prevent build up of dirt.5) Just like the previous model, this one has fully removable parts that can go in the top dishwasher compartment. Trust me, I tried it with both models and it worked brilliantly for cleaning with a rinse aid added to get rid of those pesky fingertips on the outside of the stainless steel.Overall, there are improvements, but this is certainly not perfect by any means; however, I am glad to have an enclosed toothbrush holder. It looks sleek on my bathroom counter, but the newer model is quite bulky compared to the older model. 3Great but..... The oxo stainless steel tooth brush holder is all I expected. It has a plastic liner that will not rust. It has deviders that keep toothbrushes and tooth paste in place. The tooth brushes with larger handles seem to work well in the holder. It has small soft prongs that keep the tooth brushes in place. The smaller handled toothbrushes might be allowed to touch each other, because the prongs can not keep them in place as well. Over all I would recommend this to anyone who needs a covered toothbrush and toothpaste holder. I bought 2 and am very pleased. BUT.... this was delivered by amazon, and was not packed well. There were small blemishes in the finish due to being knocked around in transit. I used stainless cleaner on it and decided to keep them. Be aware if you order from amazon it could be damaged when you get it!!! 5Easily accumulates gross gunk build up! Home for maggots! This item doesn't dry itself even in a dry bathroom even though it supposedly has ventilation. Gross gunk build up easily accumulates. One time, I forgot to clean it for about two months and found a huge amount of build up at the bottom where an army of maggots had taken over. The grossest thing I have seen in my life!!! 1Happy with it. No problems with it. It holds WAY more toothbrushes than I need it to as a single man, but that doesn't bother me as I always keep 2 replacement toothbrushed around for when it's time to throw the current one away. Now I can store them in here rather than taking up drawer space. It IS large, but again, that's not an issue for me.The finish does tend to spot up alot if you touch it with wet hands. Therefore I knocked off a star.But I may spray the stainless Exterior with Shellac or Laquer to help combat that issue.All in all I like it and I'd buy it again or recommend it to a friend. 4It doesn't have a bottom piece??? Good idea, but poor execution. The container won't stay shut on its own. The lid constantly flops open. But worst of all, there is no actual bottom to the container. Once you take the divider out, there is a big whole in the bottom. Therefore, you can't really use it without the divider because the divider contains the "bottom part." I was hoping to taking the dividee part out and just use it as a toothbush/toothpaste/floss container. But no chance as there is no bottom once you take the divider out. Waste of money. Needed space for another tube of toothpaste. If. you're just sitting it on the vanity counter top then it's not a big deal. Huge container, but why no real bottom piece??? 1NO RUST after 6 months of use I waited for 6 months to leave this review, cause I wanted to see if this thing ever rusts. NO RUST so far. there was some red spots and I thought they were rust, but they were easily cleaned, I don't know what they were, but they were not rust, and they were easily removed. you can keep your toothbrushes out of poop dust! lol 5Waste of money Open at the bottom and at the top . Hudge gap instead of perforation . Waste of money . It doesnt do the very basic reason you want it for . For instance if there are any pest where ever you carry this arround they can easily slide in to enjoy the toothpaste . 1Hard to clean I liked this so my toothbrushes would be covered and it looks sleek on the counter. However, the little rubber things inside are so difficult to clean. After awhile black mold gets on them. Even soaking it in hot water and bleach didn't get it off and I may buy the new version because that looks easidr to keep clean 3In theory this would have been great . . . I liked this item because of the height. Most electric toothbrushes are slightly taller than the other holders and the description says that you can remove the insert if your toothbrush is wider than the slot. In theory this item would have been great but when you remove the insert to put in electric toothbrushes, there is no bottom to the holder and the brushes and toothpaste just fall out the bottom if you pick it up to move it. Seems like an important fact that they should have stated in the description! 2Nice but huge Not what I expected. It is way larger than anticipated and will not fit on the side of my sink. It s a nice concept and I ll keep it and use it in a different bathroom for the kids instead because of the size. You definitely need a good amount of counter space if you don t want tonhave to pick it up to open it each time. It is also very shiny stainless, not brushed/dull like anticipated. Overall a decent product though. 1
