Customer Reviews

Excellent, felt-tipped penI purchased this pen in the black color. It is a dark, sharp black. As advertised, this is a fine-pointed, felt-tipped pen, and it has a very smooth, pleasant flow of ink.My main use for felt-tipped pens is for filling out legal and medical forms that I have to scan. In my experience, a regular, black, ballpoint pen does not produce a dark enough script for my scanner to read well. It appears very faint. This particular felt-tipped pen works perfectly for that purpose. It shows up excellently on scans.I am happy with this pen and would feel no hesitation recommend it to friends and family. 5An amazing pen for sketching and doodlingMy favorite ballpoint for drawing is the Uniball Gel Impact 1.0mm, which has a great flow of ink and a nice bold line.As far as felt tips go, the Pentel Sign Pen is now my number one. I actually had a weird deja vu moment after I ordered these. I remember that I somehow acquired a blue one many years ago and which is now long lost, but I recall at the time loving the pen and not being able to find more of them.Anyway, this pen is a bit unique in that the nib is pretty long and has a nice taper to it. It's almost like a short, stiff brush pen. Don't misunderstand, there is no flex to the nib, but the length allows you to get fine lines with the tip and broad strokes with the side. Having that range is very nice. Also, the nibs are pretty substantial so they hold their shape well.I also like that this is a very compact pen, and very economical. It will fit in any pen case, or your pocket, so it travels easily. The ink flows well, so you don't get ragged lines, and they seem to last a good long time. This is one of those pens that is inspiring to use. It's such a simple design, nothing flashy at all, but it's so satisfying and functional in a unique way. This is a true "classic".Oh, and by the way, I don't know what it is, but I'm glad that I'm not the only "pen freak" in the world - which I've discovered from reading pen reviews on Amazon. I think it's the way that different pens feel and react with the page, so discovering a new pen is always a fun experience. (And is the reason why we have a drawer full of pens) 5Pentel will not disappoint!Love these pens! Got these for my daughter & she loves them too! Although I accidentally thought I was buying the TOUCH pens (which have a more flexible, more brushy like tip), we both decided to keep these because we like them just as much. The tip is hard, but with enough flexibility to create some brush lettering & give letters dimension. Colors are very vibrant. Very happy with this purchase!Note: Sample writing was done on index cards :) 5Not so firm it gets soft and thick as soon as you use itI bought them to take notes when I study but they are not as sharp as I thought. The tips are sharp and firm at first but it easily get softer and the lines get thicker as soon as you use it. I wouldn t recommend it for someone looking for sign pens to write. 4Good but not for brush letteringThese are not the touch brush lettering ones but they are cool because they don't bleed. If you want the touch one for brush lettering, get the ones with the glittery barrel. The ones on Amazon come in a tube like canister. They are expensive but at the time I bought them they were still cheaper than other places because of shipping costs. 4NOT The Correct Ones For Brush Lettering!Great pens, however these are NOT the pens you use for brush lettering. Hopefully that will save someone else from making that mistake! You want the FUDE TOUCH sign pens. These are great quality, highly pigmented and very smooth though! Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a more basic, medium felt tip pen! 5Good value, durable tip, water basedI was looking for a sketching pen.My Desireso Inexpensive, these are not works of art and I don't need a pen that is a work of art either.o Durable tip that holds its shape and does not fray.Pros+ The tip is still in pretty good condition by the time the pen runs out of ink.+ The tip is fairly hard but with a brush like tapered shape. It is easy to generate fairly broad bold lines as well as somewhat finer lines.Caution- As described, this is a water based ink. It holds to sketch paper well without smudging if you don't smear it in the first few seconds after you draw something...unless you get even the slightest bit of moisture on it. I used this pen to save ink on my permanent ink technical pens when filling in some larger areas, and realized this was a mistake when I touched my work with the slightest bit of moisture on my hands after washing them. On the up side I was able to remove most of the damage from the smudged ink by lightly brushing the smudges with a dampened cotton swab, making sure to move to a new swab as it became grey with the ink it was lifting. 5Tip Doesn't Hold UpI really like to write and fill out forms with a good felt tip pen. For years I have been using pens from a box of Paper Mate Flair M pens which I like pretty well. However, for whatever reason, I decided to give this Pentel pen a try. Unfortunately, while the pen started out okay, after a few weeks the tips tuned mushy and the width of the pen stroke significantly fatter. No good at all, and I'm very disappointed in this product. I'm going back to the Paper Mate and giving these away. 1These are different from the Touch Pentel markers!!!These are very nice markers. But I was looking for the ones used in hand lettering sometimes called brush pens. These are NOT the ones for that. I don't know how some of the people in the reviews made the examples they did, but I cannot. If you are trying to do handlettering or modern calligraphy, do not buy these. Get the Pentel Touch pen, looks very similar, but writes completely different from these sign pens. Or get Tombow fudenosuke. Both are excellent. 4A Good Cheap Brush Style PenA good priced pen, without feeling cheap at all. Kind of a poor man's brush-style pen. It works way better, and more smoothly than say a regular Pilot gel pen, and as a result, it's my new favorite pen for basic drawing and writing. The ink is not only smooth, but it writes well, boldly, doesn't skip, and dries fast. I'm left-handed, and I never come away with ink-streaked skin with these. While you can just barely make out that one side of the paper was written on, they don't really bleed through, either. These will be my go-to pens from now on. But, I have to say, they're not as great as the Pizza Azz Maker! 5
