    which is pretty close to the recommended 29 quartersI used it to to replace the broken spring on my two car garage door. I needed to tighten it 31 quarter turns, which is pretty close to the recommended 29 quarters. Since I'm use a single spring on a two car door, I thought the extra rotation is very reasonable and happy to see it working.The instructions says you must use the winding rods made by Prime-Line. I used 1/2" steel rods from home depot with no issue.Now I hope it will last at least 10 years as the specifications says. 5Great Quality Springs That Work As ExpectedI installed this a few months ago on my garage door that had a failing spring and a newer spring installed on the other side. If you happen to have just one spring go out. Do yourself a favor and just replace both springs at the same time. Verses wait for it to go out. Usually when one spring fails the other spring will fail not long after. This is what happend in my case. 5but installation was smooth and my garage door lifts easily again. If you have to buy a different ...This was a little longer than the unit it replaced, but installation was smooth and my garage door lifts easily again. If you have to buy a different size than the original, go up a little bit, a longer spring is less stressed than a shorter spring. 5Make sure seller knows weight lifting needed to work with one versus two springs.Turns out one spring was not same as one that broke. Too weak. Told it needed two. But that with prescribed turns was way too much and whipped door back so hard it banged into motor stop very hard. Trying to adjust tensions resulted in uneven pulls and one side fell off track on left to hang down by a very thin margin on right track. Fortunately got door back on tracks and got a specialist to fix with different springs. Said old ones should have been for 180 lbs not 220. Still have old ones if someone else can use them. 2I really wanted to exchange it for the correct one.I needed a right wind. 1 3/4 in id (218) spring size. Shorter would have been better (I measured it from the outside of flange before) Think that model GD-12228 should be close (a bit longer but should work.)When I went into script to exchange rather than get moneys back it did not allow me to do the exchange. Shipping was next day. I got the torsion spring rod at a local hardware store. Easy to install once I figure out how to lock down the rod from moving and loosening the door cable on the side. Instructions tells you how to do it. Great replacement spring and save $$$ doing it myself. 5Save a ton but taking a calculated risk.Great deal am very happy. If you are a do it yourselfer be sure to do your homework to get the correct spring for your door and know the number of turns it will need. Very dangerous so be careful.
