    Pretty colors, not bad for the price. I couldn't resist the gorgeous colors in this, and immediately started knitting a lace scarf pattern as soon as it arrived. The colors are beautiful jewel tones, with a bit more raspberry and purple than other colors. I'd like a bit more of the bright blue, personally, and maybe less green, but it is quite nice as it is. It's got a bit of sheen to it, kind of satiny, and feels nice to the touch. I'm not generally a fan of acrylic, but this feels a bit nicer than the average cheapo skein. Not as "squeaky" if that makes sense.Minor issues: I really enjoy the gradual transitions, and knitting along seeing what color is coming up next... until I was in the middle of a raspberry part and pulled a knot out of the center of the skein. The pink end had just been tied with a double knot to a green section! Luckily the knot fell at the edge of a row, but still now there's one hard pink/green transition where the rest of the scarf has soft gradients. I've also had it break on me, twice. I just overlapped a few inches and knitted it in, since the break was at a thin spot (as you'd expect). I've found a few thinner spots, and some thicker bits. I've seen this in expensive wool yarn with similar color transitions, and this is less pronounced than in, say, Noro, but something to be aware of. I've also had to deal with a few tangles. Annoying, but not terrible.All in all, I like it. Not the best yarn out there, but it's pretty and the price was good! 4Beautiful colorway, ultra soft yarn easy to work with Just as described. Beautiful colorway. This yarn is ultra soft, it has different thickness through out the yarn to give it different textures as you work with it. Making each item you make unique in its own way. Very easy to work with. Highly recommend and I will be buying more in the near furture. 5Beautiful, smaller weight Beautiful yarn, very bright and pretty! Definitely not a size 4 worsted yarn, it was tiny! Like sport weight, size 3. That's the only reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Size not as expected. 4Good value for the money, with some interesting characteristics If we could do fractional scores, I think I'd give this one 3.5 stars...but I'm more inclined to round up than down, I think. For reference, I'm a crocheter who most recently used this yarn to make a ribbed scarf, alternating FPDCs and BPDCs using an H hook.First, the good:The colors are so vibrant. I got the Dragonfly colorway, and the jewel tones are very very rich. It goes from green, to teal, to a greenish-purple color that defies description, to purple, to royal blue, with occasional variations in those tones.It's also faintly shimmery. Not what I'd call metallic at all, but there's just a bit of sheen that really brings out the richness of the colors.It's unique for a 100% acrylic yarn in that the plies aren't twisted. It's an effect you're far more likely to find in wool and other natural fibers, and the result is a very different look than your standard Super Saver project. (In other words, you can make a scarf or a piece of clothing with this, and it's something that someone will actually wear, vs. something that looks cheap.)Some reviews mentioned that this yarn is hard to work with. I didn't find it so. The strands do separate sometimes, but I've had far worse times with other yarns. It's easy enough for me.And because it's 100% acrylic, it's washable. (!!!) No worries about distortion or blocking, and no giving a present to someone and then dropping the bomb on them that they need to dry clean it. (Best way to make sure your gift will never be worn, ever.)And the bad:The weight is very variable. The description calls it a 4/Worsted weight. I'd also characterize it as a 4...sometimes. At other points in the skein, it bulks up a bit - maybe not quite to a 5, but still fluffier than the usual worsted - and then it shrinks down as far as a 2. That isn't an uncommon thing in homespun-style natural yarns, and in some cases it might even be a benefit, but it's something to take into consideration. It was pronounced enough that I actually revised the project I had in mind; had I gone with straight crocheting, the weight differences would have been pretty obvious, with variable gaps between the stitches. I ended up changing to a stitch that pulls the gaps between the stitches closed. If you need consistency weight-wise, you'll probably want to look elsewhere.The color variegation isn't consistent either. Again, this might be a non-issue, or even be an attractive feature to you depending on what you're doing. But I'm used to yarns, even hand-dyed yarns, that have X yards of one color, move onto the next color for X yards, and the order in which they appear is the same throughout. Not so with Unforgettable. Green might last for two rows and then merge with teal, or it might skip teal and go straight to that weird greenish-purple. Sometimes the blue follows green, sometimes it follows purple, and sometimes you might get three whole rows of purple whereas other rows you won't even be able to finish out the row with that color. "Inconsistent" is really the only way to put it. If that will make your project more interesting, then great...but if you want symmetry, keep looking.Lastly - and again, I recognize that this may not be a bad thing, depending on what you're looking for - there must be a great deal of variation between dye lots. The Amazon picture shows a predominantly royal blue yarn, with green and light blue, and just a bit of purple. The predominant color in the skeins I got is green/teal, with purple being secondary, and really, very little blue. (I was a bit disappointed since the blue in the photo is so lovely, but the version I got is very nice too.) I didn't order this yarn from this seller, so it could very well be that the photo represents the seller's present inventory...but I'll post a photo of my own so that you can see what my lot of Dragonfly looks like.Personally, I think the yarn is worth putting up with the negative aspects. It really is quite nice and extremely pretty for the money. 4Sun bleached. Breaks easily. I actually love this brand, but the skein I got was not great quality. I hate getting rotten color saturation when you order balls of yarn online, because it's always easier for brands to ship you the ones that don't normally sell in the store. Mine was very clearly sun bleached, or had been sitting out for a while. And the yarn was breaking down while I tried to work with it on my project. Guess I can only buy this in-stores, if they don't give the good quality to their online buyers :( otherwise I would order online from them more. 1Beautiful grey-shades yarn I have used this yarn several times before but this color is very pretty. It doesn't transition as drastically as I would have liked, it is more a light grey to dark grey than a black to white. But finished projects are gorgeous. As with the other yarns in this line they do vary greatly on thickness. There will be sections that are almost thread-like and other sections that border on chunky yarn. But it has never negatively affected my projects. 5Look at this in a brick & mortar store before ordering online, or it might not be what you are expecting!!! The photo I am posting is using the "sunrise" yarn. My advice is look before you buy. This yarn is not suited to projects that reqire total uniformity & it's NOT primarily a "4" or worsted weight. It is mostly a "3" or sport weight (in my opinion) with tiny areas that are "4" almost "5", and other tiny areas that are "2" almost "1". Having said that, it worked out perfectly for the project I had in mind. I loved the long stretches of yarn before color changed in the variegation. I saw this yarn in a store first, but they didn't have enough skeins, so I ordered online (for a much better price on Amazon btw). 5Stained glass, used to crochet V stitch scarf At first, this yarn was a bit difficult to work with, the thickness of this yarn varies throughout the skien, but in my experience, it's mostly really think with small patches that get thicker for a couple inches before getting really tiny again.I got used to working with it fairly quickly and I love the look of the finished product, however I hit a spot where the yarn was tied in, about mid way through the skein, it was a very dark purple tied into yellow, so it is very noticeable, and not only the color but also the texture.It felt really nice and soft, I really was falling in love with this yarn, the I hit the tied in and not only does it look bad, from the tie in all the way to the end, the yarn was stiff and scratchy and it doesn't drape like the first half.So now I have a scarf that is soft and beautiful on one side and scratchy on the other side. 3Nice for crocheted hat Used this yarn in this hat here and have made 3 so far with this yarn. The yarn is very soft. I gave away all three hats and everyone I gave them to loves the hat. It is thin so I double it when crocheting. 5Beautiful but yarn inconsistent I bought this to make a scarf. The first ball had 2 issues, knot where yarn was joined and inconsistent sizing. Ranging from a baby fingering/2 to 4 or greater. The yarn size inconsistencies continue throughout each ball. I have attached photos.The colour is beautiful..for my project the yarn inconsistencies were not a deterrant and the colour variations coupled with my pattern choice helped to hide the size changes.I would not recommend this yarn for beginners..it is very soft and 'fuzzy' and as I worked with my 5mm hook the yarn did split at times and the fuzziness enabled it to tangle up on itself as the fine fuzz snagged on fuzz further down on the roll, it also meant pulling out the work if a stitch was dropped or missed was a nightmare as the stitches seemed knotted together despite how silky the thread seemed.I give 5 for beauty...but 3 for manageability. It requires a patient more experienced crocheter. 3
