Tape does NOT stick to cardboard boxesTape does NOT stick to normal cardboard boxes. This is very disappointing where this is the primary function of a product like this, the product label even depicts an image which looks to be boxes.... I am not usually one to write a review, good or bad, but this was such a huge disappointment. The tape was on the box for about 15 minutes before I took the attached photo. I worked as a shipping supervisor for six years and never came across a tape this bad.1Works fine - tacky - doesn't tearSome reviews had me nervous. Well some pictures showed people clearly didn't know how to tape a box. Crease to crease all the way around - or just continue from where you taped the bottom from and stopped the tape. Then for added strength run a second path opposite to your first direction (perpendicular) around the girth of the box end to end. So it looks like an H. That is how your a supposed to tape a box.Some recycled material boxes will act different. While heavy duty tape seems better, I have yet to see a break in the seal yet with this stuff.Also adhere to the guidelines on your box certificate (on the bottom flap) - if it says 65lbs maximum weight, then that is what it means. Rule of thumb is to not exceed 50% of rated capacity in case the box is dropped from 5 feet (standard test).Just thought that might help a little. Keeping it in a cool dark place is also ideal, and even keeping the open package inside a ziplock freezer bag will help if not using right away.Good stuff. It's not the best 3M Scotch tape, but for the price - it works just fine.5TINGE OF YELLOWThis is the brand that I usually use for packing. It's been very reliable. But I noticed that this order had a tinge of yellow to it and it would tear off in an angle which made it challenging to find the edge connected to the spool. This led me to believe that this package was a bit on the old side which explains the great bargain it was priced at. I will still use this product because its is very reliable except for this one particular order.3Waste of moneyWhile packing for a big cross country move I had a bad experience with Scotch packaging tape so I thought I'd "upgrade" to the Moving and Storage tape. This stuff, like the Packing tape, has all the adhesion of a Post-It note. The tape would start falling off within minutes and after 24 hours 30% of the boxes were tape-free.When the movers arrived they took a look at the boxes and said the tape was garbage. They pulled out some brown plastic backed tape, resealed the boxes and everything stuck just like it should.This product is waste of money unless you want to use it as a Post-It note.1This tape is horrible. I have two entire rooms full of boxes ...I am packing for a move and bought this product because I used to trust the brand. This tape is horrible. I have two entire rooms full of boxes piled up, floor to ceiling with tape peeling off. This is in my climate controlled home with the windows closed. DO NOT BUY.1Awesome productThis tape is perfect for many uses. Very impressive tape! Very functional and many, many uses. This sounds silly to say, but one of the best Office supply products I have purchased. It sticks very well to many surfaces, and when you go to remove it, the tape comes OFF without any issues. Can use it to fasten wires to walls in your house (for smart home devices like cameras that need the chord fastened out of the way), can use in your car to tape things to dashboard such as a phone holder (for extra stabilization) , tape boxes for packaging, tape christmas decorations to windows. Endless uses LOL! Always good idea to fold over one end about 1/4 inch to make easy to remove if using the tape for a temporary application.5Best packing tapeOnly takes one strip to hold a heavy box together, cuts easily on the packing tape wheel we use, and doesn't "shred" apart like cheaper tapes that we tried. We use this all the time. I won't go back to the cheaper tapes because I they were impossible to start, shredded easily, and we had to use multiple layers of tape to hold a box together whereas this tape starts easily, doesn't make shred if it gets tuck to the taping gun when I peel it off, and I only need one layer. Awesome stuff.5Worthless tape that won't actually remain stuck to cardboard boxesAvoid these. It's simple: I bought a bunch of rolls of this tape to tape moving boxes closed. I bought a few dozen brown cardboard boxes from U-Haul. I put things in the boxes and taped them shut. The next morning, the tape had become unstuck(!) from the tops of the boxes and the boxes had started to open themselves a bit. Tape is supposed to do one thing well, and this does not. It's even worse than if it was just not very sticky because it gives a false sense of confidence. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had shipped boxes closed with this tape...1Must buy for chronic online shoppersDo you do most of your shopping online? Especially for clothes and then you need to return stuff all the time? This isn't the scotch tape that you want, but the scotch tape that you deserve. Don't buy tape rolls one at time - you aren't fooling anyone (especially the people at the local UPS store - yeah, they are judging you hard core). You need six times the sticking power. Nordstrom might not thank you Scotch - but I surely do.5Get the SCOTCH SHIPPING tape for cardboard boxesBEFORE YOU BUY THIS, read the most recent reviews and decide for yourself! Quality is very poor! I bought the 6-pack Scotch Long Lasting Moving & Storage tape twice within a year, so I know how weak these tape hold. They work okay with glass or very smooth surfaces, but anything like cardboard boxes, you will need to tape across at least three times. Worst is that they don't hold overnight--my boxes came loose overnight sitting there because the tape does not adhere to the surface.I recently ran out of tape, so I bought a Scotch tape roller gun that came with one roll of tape (shipping type tape) from a local retailer, and the tape is of way better quality. There is something about the quality here--it's thicker and it adheres to the cardboard box for my 60" TV with ease and well.I believe the quality difference is in the "type" of tape being used or intended for. This "Moving & Storage" tape is not meant for cardboard boxes. If you want better tape for your cardboard boxes, go with Scotch Shipping tape.3
