Customer Reviews

and it is sold at a good price. I would give the retailer 1/2 star ...I'm giving this 4 stars because there is nothing wrong with it as a flex connector, and it is sold at a good price. I would give the retailer 1/2 star for not describing which end is which. The FIP connector is 3/4", and the Sharkbite connector is 1/2". This makes it worthless as a connection for the EcoSmart 11 tankless water heater that it is listed with. The EcoSmart has 5/8" compression fittings (made for 1/2" copper tubing) and comes with an adapter to convert those fittings to 1/2" MIP (male pipe thread). To use this connection hose you would have to put an additional fitting (1/2" FIP to 3/4" MIP), which would really start to look like a kluge. This is a great connection hose if you are connecting to a standard tank type water heater, that has a normal 3/4" MIP outlet, but for the EcoSmart 11 it was worthless. I just wish the retailer had listed which end was which before I wasted my time buying it and then having to return it.4DO NOT BUY! I have to start by saying that the Sharkbite connectors are amazing...I haven't ever had issues or qualms with them, and I think their ease of use and quality are groundbreaking, making average people more at ease and confident tacking plumbing tasks. Easy does not always mean better though, and these hoses are a perfect example; they are not fit to be sold commercially. I had the same issues as others...black flakes in my bath tub. When I removed the aerators from my other faucets, I noticed the flakes in there as well. I bough a brand new fridge less that 6 months ago, and about 3 weeks ago it notified me that I need a new filter, so I am assuming it is from the degradation of these hoses. I looked over my entire water system, and the rubber from these hoses were the only thing that I could pinpoint to be the issue. I bit the bullet and replaced these hoses with copper. When I took the hoses off, I cut them open with a utility knife and found that the rubber inside the hoses was shredding off and going into and out of my water heater and throughout waterlines in my house. I am lucky because I know how to do some of these repairs but a lot of people don't and have to spend a LOT more to fix this problem. Having to spend money on fixing a defective product doesn't make me happy, but the part that worries me (maybe I'm just paranoid) is that my kids, wife, and I have all been drinking this water... I am no scientist, but I don't know how it can be safe to drink water that can have rubber debris in it. Sharkbite missed the mark with quality control on this one. I now have to flush my entire system and hope that I can get rid of all the debris in my water heater and lines, and replace the fridge filter (not sure, but I am guessing this is why). Hopefully there's no long term damage from this product on any of our appliances. My advise...do not buy.1FantasticI always hear from people who say shark bite fittings are expensive. I have learned over the years for me at 70 years old it's the difference between hiring a plumber or doing it myself. Removed and installed water heater in tight spot it took an hour to drain and remove and install new one. Thanks You Rock!!!!!5>NOT< NPT Threaded!!!>NOT< NPT Threaded!!! - This unit seems to have extremely good construction and materials. I likely would have given it a five star rating had it actually fit! The description is not clear that the threaded side straight, not tapered. This means it actually will not (correctly) connect to a lot of tank and tankless water heaters whose input and output are often 3/4 Male NPT. You will be able to get one or two threads to engage before it abruptly seizes on the threads, but NPT threads, when engaged correctly, are meant to slowly tighten over 3,4 or even 5 threads deep for correct thread contact and seal. Be doubly sure that you have a non-tapered threading on your water heater before ordering this otherwise awesome piece of hardware, our you will, like me, end up having to return it.3Worked GREAT! This installs in literally seconds, couldn't be happier. First time trying the SharkBite brand it worked flawlessly and not a single drip! Would definitely recommend this item. 5DO NOT BUY! I needed this piece to finish the installation of a recirculating pump. Removing the old one involved a propane wrench to loosen solder joints, and a lot of dirty work. Putting this in was two minutes of work.5OMG these things make it so easy! Not always worth it based on price My first time using Sharkbites. OMG these things make it so easy! Not always worth it based on price, but in this case the ease was worth it. Just remember to properly debur and measure and mark the pipe to ensure proper insertion. 5Flexible to fit a small area, slides on easilyIt is flexible and it slid right on and has not leaked. I used a copper pipe cutter to get a nice edge. I used the deburring tool but it was not needed. I did use it to mark how far the sharkbite must slide on. The 3/4" end fastened easily and the rubber ring seals it tight. I used it on the cold water line (right side).5Amazing!I was terrified to install a new water heater, but I hated paying someone else hundreds of dollars to do it. This hose was amazing!! We cut the pipe that was attached, slid this one on and tightened it to the tank and that was it! If it took 2 minutes I would be surprised. Never a leak! My nephew told me about these and it was a great buy! I cannot say enough good things about this product and its simplicity. I am 51 and I did it myself with no prior experience!!5Work great at half the price of buying localSuch a great deal. I got 2 of these off of Amazon for barely more than one costs at Lowe's. I've used hundreds of these at work and they're so easy to use. They work great on pex and copper, just make sure you debur your copper, especially the outside of the pipe. One of my pipe cutters leaves a small lip around the outside of the copper pipe so I use a file to quickly knock it off before trying to push these on. If you don't it won't go on and I've actually made the shark bite end unusable before by not getting rid of that lip first.5Fits the PEX and the water heater correctlyI used this on a Stieble tankless water heater and the hose fit perfectly. The 3/4" twist end attached exactly to the water heater without any leaks. The 1/2" end connected to my new PEX water line perfectly. So far no problems.5
