Customer Reviews

Good weight and keeps those doors openWe have a pretty light bedroom door that slams shut with all the might of Odin's beard when it encounters some wind from our sizable bedroom window. After our dogs got locked in our bedroom room many times and nearly hit in the butt on a couple occasions, we decided that this thing could be $7 well spent. With the high quality construction and weight to this door stopper, I can safely say that it was totally worth it. We can get quite the gust in our room on the right day and the stopper has no problem holding the door open on our carpet. I'm very confident that it'd be great in all residential use cases on carpet or hardwood floors. I haven't tried it on a commercial door like you'd find in a high school, but chances are you're buying this for your house, where it should more than do the job. 5just get itSometimes you like something way out of proportion to what it is. Like this door stopper! Having grown up with the ugly brown things I was pleased to find a nicely designed door stop (and at such a good price). It looks elegant and I don't mind leaving it in my front hall since my front door often needs propping. Does the job well, and shows that simple functional objects can be attractive. 5Best Budget/Specs Balance DoorstopAt the time of my first purchse and my second over a year later; this doorstop is inexpensive while also being solid and functional. It doesnt bend like hollow plastic cheap ones do against the weight of a door over time (causing you to just but more), and it s the cheapest of it s quality level (not being made of things like aluminum which add no increased function but cost more). The first one hasn t taken any damage but the most superficia scratches despite the high people traffic I have had in my room (whom tend to fling doors open lol). The new one I bought for another room is in the same condition the first came in (no drop in quality or price over the years).I honestly don t understand why amazon lists it so far under the searching menu now, so that I had to go through my prior orders to find it, when all these sub-par quality or inflated-price competitors are at the top. 5Didn't keep door closedI have a door that won't latch and got this doorstop to prevent my dog from opening the door with his nose. This doorstop doesn't work. Just lightly push the door and the doorstop slides right along with the door. The non-skid bottom skids right along my hardwood floors with ease. 1Pretty but not high enough to stop the door.If you have a door that closes on a threshold look for something else because this stop is way to short in height! The picture doesn't tell you the height and the dimensions are way off (1.6 x 3.3 x 5.6 inches). Where would see the size 3.3 inches? It is not the width and it is definitely not the height plus the 1.6 is not the height either! 2Decent enough, but not my styleNice enough doorstop... I bought the one made of metal from this same brand as well, only intending to keep the one I liked more. Well, I like the metal one better than this, since it's just a little bit heavier (which will be helpful when the non-skid rubber eventually goes.) The wood is a light color (not stained,) and feels like it's lightly varnished. This looks marginally nicer than a plain rubber stop, but only just. If you have a lot of natural colored pine furnishings, or other light colored wood, this might match well enough... But it didn't match with anything of mine. Then again, it's just a doorstop... How often will you really look at it too closely? 4Too thick for many doorsThese metal doorstops are hefty and attractive, with rubberized grip on both sides.NOTE: these will not help doors that have only a little bottom clearance -- I'd estimate under 1/8" (3 mm). The thinnest part (tip) is thicker than that of a traditional rubber doorstop. So you you may need to resort to folded cardboard (or a rubber door wedge) for doors that glide close over the floor. I bought six for my recently-renovated house, and literally four of them are too thick to be of any use. 3Wrong dimensions listedIt's a nice enough doorstop, but the product dimensions in the description are wrong. It isn't 1.6 x 3.3 x 5.6 inches as it says in the Product Information. It's more like 1.13 x 1.5 x 4.75 inches. I thought maybe the listed dimensions were for the packaging, but that's considerably larger, so not sure where those numbers come from. Unfortunately, the doors I want to hold open all sit with a 1.25 inches gap below them, so this door stop is pretty much useless to me. It's actually shorter than the cheap plastic doorstops that were just a bit too short to be of use. I suppose I should have realized 3.3 inches was way too wide, but I was just concerned with the height. At least I just bought one to test out before buying half a dozen. I see now that the Product Description clearly states that it holds doors open with a 1" gap. Not sure how I missed that, but just annoyed after I spent so long searching for and finding what I thought was a sufficiently large enough door stop, only to learn I wasted my money on an oddly shaped paper weight. 3WRONG product description of the DIMENSIONSI bought this door wedge based on the "description" given: 1.2 x 3.6 x 6.5 inches. Unfortunately, that's totally incorrect. First of all, the description should at least include which dimension is the height, width and length. From the above description, the viewer can only conclude that the largest number is the length but, the two smaller numbers are anyone's guess (width? height?). As it turns out, the 6.5" and the 3.6" refers to the length and the width (respectively) of the PACKAGING, NOT the actual dimensions of the wedge. As an interested buyer, I need to know the ACTUAL dimensions of the wedge...not its packaging. For those interested in this wedge, the actual dimensions of the wedge are: 4.75" LONG x 1.5" WIDE x 1.2" HIGH. Since the actual dimensions are too small for my purpose, I will probably have to return it. That said, it looks nice (in it's packaging). If I could use it, I'd keep it but, I already own door wedges of this very common size. 2Best Doorstop Ever! This seriously isn't a snarky review. This doorstop is really awesome. We have really heavy solid doors in our office, which tend to either crush the doorstop, or overpower it at some point in the day; resulting in a case of ghost-door. These are very heavy (relative to every other doorstop we've tried) and never slip. While a bit pricey, they're worth the money. They seem durable enough that we won't be replacing them quite as often. Works well on tile and carpet, and even hold on our heavy fire doors. Most of all, they look really sharp. We sort of got used to those crappy reddish brown puke colored wedges all over. These have an awesome look, and could go well with retro, contemporary, or modern style. 5
