    Very disappointed..Very disappointed... The primary main reason I purchased this particular set was because it came with a CD (which I thought was going to have proprietary software). However, it only works with older computers (won't work on Windows 10). So, when I found a way to get the CD to function, it turned out to have nothing but a few video tutorials -- all of which can be viewed for free online. As far as the supplies go, I only received enough to make two items. Everything else can be purchased much cheaper by competitors for a very small fraction of the price charged. 2It is nice to have but if you are looking to Create ...It is nice to have but if you are looking to Create your own custom rhinestone designs get designer edition plus. Ijs ok, when it says starter kit it means just that a few things to get you started like alphabets numbers and a few shapes. If would have known this I would have bought the the one I mentioned earlier. But I'm taking baby steps lol 3Works GreatI had no trouble cutting this using a relatively new blade (I think I've cut maybe four or five sheets of light cardstock with it). I did text in 36 to 40 point size and it came out great. Even a few very narrow places came out fine.I would suggest buying some sort of permanent mounting solution if you're doing a lot of text.Also, if you pop all the letters out, then press them back into the "shell" of the text, it makes it a lot easier to line up-- just press the blank against the text and carefully pull off the extra "shell". 5Take a close look at the contents before buyingUpdate: After actually trying the sheets in this kit (both the flocked and smooth), then another brand (Siser EasyWeed), I've returned to reduce my rating to the lowest possible. The flocked was so-so on a simple cut, but the smooth was a complete and total waste of time. I threw away the sheet in frustration, then tried the Siser. What a difference. I had intended to use these sheets as practice, but it's not worth the frustration: the remaining pieces are in the trash.Original Review: The starter kits, are, in my opinion, a waste of money. The colors are not what I'd use (for a dark shirt, my only options for smooth transfer material is pink or teal) and the instructions are _illegible_. At least I was able to get directions in PDF form. I ordered this set when I purchased my machine over a year ago, and was so excited that I didn't really read what came with it. Do yourself a favor and look first.I'm pretty happy with my Silhouette Cameo, but have been fairly unimpressed by their "accessories." (I have switched almost exclusively to Cricut mats, don't buy Silhouette's regular vinyl for decals, etc.) Well, I've had this box sitting here for a year and finally opened it up today because I finally have a need for it... and find that I'm going to have to order material online because there's nothing here I can use except as practice. $20 (approx) is a lot to pay for practice! 1Such FunI loved making new crafts with these. Especially addressing cards, and adding in fun designs. The only downside is they really don't last long. I made about 20 envelopes and my pens are mostly dry now. If you don't have the pen positioned correctly, it will also drag and leave a line. I like that you don't have to have any other parts to use this. It fits right in the blade holder. Other pens need something in addition to the pen so it fits. 4What a waste of money. Do not buy starter kitsI'm not sure where the money is going in this starter kit. I purchased it mainly for the instructional video which turned out to be all of 4 minutes long with only some background music. It does come with a weeding hook, but I suggest getting the accessory pack and you will have all the tools you will need, so that was useless. What you are left with is 4 pieces of HTV in not the most useful colors. Black, white, gold, and silver would have made more sense. Not to mention that two of the colors are flocked. What? I recommend buying HTVUltralite Heat Transfer Vinyl Starter Pack - 7 Sheets -THINNER THAN Siser EASYWEED! + Bonus Guide and watching YouTube videos 2Practice first!!I've had a Silhouette Curio for a little over a year, but I hadn't worked with vinyl yet. In my kit, the vinyl and transfer paper came rolled into one... I'm still not sure which is the stencil paper and which is the transfer tape... This is a great starter kit, but the I instructions could have been a little more clear.Tips:Cut your design out on paper first if you're unsure. Sometimes seeing the design in person makes a difference.SCRAPE YOUR EDGES, FORCEFULLY. To get clean, crisp lines, you MUST ensure the vinyl has completely adhered to your glass surface.Curved glass surfaces are CRAZY DIFFICULT when working with larger designs. Cut it out on paper first and treat it like a sewing pattern. Make little snips to help curves lay flat.Reuse the etching cream! It's expensive. Slather it on, and scrape the excess back into the container.Have fun, and happy crafting :) 4From opening the package to cutting my 1st stamp was only 5 mins!This kit was pretty awesome! I used it to make a stamp of my logo. Like all silhouette products (for me anyway) it has super clear instructions. I was cutting my own stamp in about 5 minutes.The stamp material is pretty sturdy so you dont really have to worry about it ripping when you're pulling your pieces apart after it's cut. IF you cut too thin, it can rip. But I mean, really thin. The cuts have to basically be next to each other.The grid on the clear blocks is really handy to making sure your stamp is straight, which was necessary for me because I had cut out text.I haven't used the ink yet, so I can't say much about that.The only thing that I am missing is directions on how to make a stamp *permanent*. Like, adhere it to one of these blocks. I spent a lot of time lining up all my text and it drives me a little nuts that it could come off if i put it in a drawer or something like that. I understand the whole point of this is to make them reusable. But still, that's a lot of work! Haha 5I think I got an old oneAs the title says, I think I got an old one but it is also possible I did not use this correctly which is why I am giving it three stars. Read the entire review and you decide. First the vinyl: I had two problems with this. I was having problems when I cut my design while the vinyl was still rolled up. I had better luck when I cut smaller sections (4x4) and placed them on the cutting mat. However, I still had trouble weeding out my design. My design included a capital 'B' in it and I had a hard time removing the letter and leaving the small holes in the center of the letter. These are a little over 1/16 of an inch. It was like the vinyl was not sticking well enough to the backing. On the other hand, maybe my design was too detailed for this particular vinyl. The other problem I had was with the etching cream. I stirred it and am pretty sure I scraped the bottom and sides, but it still stayed a bit green and never got as thick as shown in any demonstration videos. The vinyl coming off the backing easily and the cream looking like a melted mint milkshake is why I think I got an old kit. I ended up getting some OraCal and Armour Etch from one of the local craft stores and had no problems. 3Some of the pens don't even work.Overall, the pens that DO actually work are great. I love the colors. As for the longevity of these pens, you might as well go buy the pen holders and buy pens that you actually trust. Out of the 24 pens, 7 of them didn't even write. Others (4) worked for a short while before not working any more. That's a total of 11 pens out of the 24. And YES, I did try numerous things to get the ink to flowing again, and my efforts were short lived. I do not recommend buying these. I wish I would have just gotten the pen holders for the cameo and bought pens I actually trust.. 2
