Great product. Interesting experience.First off, the finished product is nice. Not stellar, but we re talking about a lower priced night stand so let s be honest.Follow the instructions, follow the instructions and follow the instructions. Sure, they re just pictures and no words. Who cares? Most like it better that way anyways. It s less confusing. It went together flawlessly. All parts fit, and all hardware was accounted for.For those talking about cardboard backing and draw liners. Ugh, it s Masonite, not cardboard. A very, very typical usage for that wood product.Sure the back gets nailed on, enough nails were supplied, and it s even supposed to be screwed on the bottom with the supplied screws.For those complaining and worrying about the drawer bottom. Three of the four sides of the Masonite panel are set in grooves. Drawer front, and both sides. The rear is held in place to the drawer back using DIFFERENT nails then the ones you used to attach the back. They re ribbed, and designed to prevent them from pulling out. I don t see any problems with the drawer bottom coming out on me. It s pretty study.Now, the drawer runners. I swear I freaked out when I saw they were plastic However upon completion, they run smoother than any other non-metal drawer runner I ve ever saw. I can easily see how they can bind, if the runners are not fully and evenly seated in their holes. If you put it together right, the drawer will run smooth as silk. There is even a special tool included in the hardware package for this purpose.In closing. Save yourself the aggravation and use a power drill where necessary when assembling. Just use common sense, and don t use the drill on the half turn fasteners. You ll need a square drive bit, along with a Philips. Make sure you fully seat the drawer runners. Use the correct nails in the correct locations.And most of all, use common sense. If you don t have any you probably shouldn t be assembly furniture anyways.4Met ExpectationsMy husband and I recently purchased the South Shore Vito Collection 6-Drawer double dresser, and matching nightstand for our son's nursery. We knew it wasn't going to be the most amazing piece of furniture we would ever own, but couldn't beat the price. Shipping was extremely fast, and nothing seemed to be damaged en route. A couple of cons to note would be that assembly is VERY labor intensive. We spent all of one afternoon assembling the frame of the dresser, and then completed & installed the drawers the next day (which took all morning, but I was able to do it on my own @ 35 weeks pregnant). Also, not all of the drawers close flush with the frame. Other than that, it doesn't look terrible; matches the other furniture in the room; and seems to be sufficient for what we will need them for. Overall, it's not too shabby. Just don't be expecting more than what you pay for.3It works if you're looking for a cheap night standI purchased this in white to match an already existing white night stand, and this was roughly the same height and width to appear to be matching. It is for a guest room and I'm glad it is so - the drawer is pretty "sticky" the way the plastic pieces fit together, so it does not slide open as effortlessly as you would want if having to frequently open it. If you're looking to make it not appear to be a cheap night stand off amazon, simply replace the drawer pull and that instantly transformed mine!3Not too bad, especially for the priceSeeing as you can get a real wood nightstand for 3-8 times the price, you can't really beat this one. Unless you are looking to furnish a 500 thousand dollar house with high end furniture, look no further. As noted, it's not real wood. But it is a very good quality nightstand. I'm not the handiest guy in the world and it still only took me about 20 minutes to put together. They forgot to put the directions in the box, but they are easily downloadable online on their site. The reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is because the draw is a little stiff. Considering the price, I didn't expect to have it come with a 20 dollar draw runner. So for the price it still works great. I just wish the draw would open and close a tiny bit smoother. But overall I'm very happy with this!4Great for guest room; Very good value for the moneyThese things are very inexpensive. They're easy to assemble, look reasonably good, and they generally function well as nightstands. There are no defects or problems with them at all aside from the fact that, yes, they are cheap. The drawer glides are not nice by any means. The wood is a melamine / particle board / laminate material that probably wouldn't take abuse very well. We put these in a guest room with a bed that's also an espresso color. In fact the bed is genuine Amish Maple wood (very expensive / high quality) and these nightstands hold their own even next to an expensive piece of furniture. That's the nice thing about dark / espresso colored wood is that it's a little harder to tell expensive from cheap.To some of the lukewarm or negative reviewers: if you want REALLY NICE nightstands, be prepared to spend 4-10x as much as these things cost.5Skeptical at order but pleased after arrival and assemblyYou can see from some of the reviews and the photos that this is not a "solid" wood product. It is made of particleboard with a veneer, and in shipping, you can get some damaged corners. But my order came solidly (and intelligently) packed with zero damage. The instructions were complete, the boards are clearly marked, and the hardware parts are well packaged. I am fairly skilled at assembly so putting it together was an painless process but if you work through the instructions one step at a time, it will work for you. The finished product is stable and will handle the weight of a lamp, clock, and smaller items -- I wouldn't sit on it. One of the best features is the sliding rails on the drawer. I have had some that have no rails and it becomes difficult to open and close the drawer over time. The action on this one is smooth and there is a full stop when opened so you won't pull the drawer out and spill the contents (and damage the drawer. All-in-all, a solid product for the price.4Great nightstand for the price, matches other Vito Collection pieces nicelyI bought two of these nightstands, the matching Vito Headboard and two Vito double wide dresser and was satisfied with all of them.You can't beat the price and put together this nightstand looks great. Sleek, Contemporary and sturdy.I used my Amazon Prime and got free 2nd Day air shipping. The box weighed 41 lbs so be sure to have someone lift if you have to move it around. It comes packaged in it's retail box just with 2" cardboard bumpers on each corner, seems adequate as nothing was broken when it arrived.The instructions were easy enough to follow, this does require a good bit of assembly and I would recommend you have someone helping you with final assembly so you don't break any pieces. It took me and my friend about 3-4 hours to do 2 nightstands, dresser, and headboard.The only con would be the drawer rails, they're completely plastic. No wheels, just plastic on plastic. This was a bigger deal on the dresser, but a night stand not so much. Plus this stuff has a 5 year warranty so if they break I guess I can get free replacements.So all in all a good value in my opinion if you don't mind assembling or plastic rails.5DO NOT BUYWhatever the price currently is, it's 18 pages of confusing directions, similar looking and yet missing parts of which the manufacturer doesn't give you any extra that will become clear on the final steps of assembly. Everything about this product is cheap so why are you going to put it in your home?1Nice for the priceI bought this as a night table for my son, it was very easy to put together. I've put together a lot of furniture over the years and there always comes a point where something just doesn't fit right - did not have this issue with this piece. My 14 year daughter helped me. It seems sturdy enough as a night table.4You get what you pay forBought this for my room at my mother's house. The paint is not durable but aside from that it serves its purpose. I live at my apartment near my college and only come home on holidays, i've noticed that simple putting the remote down to hard on it leave's scuff marks. Would not recommend this in high traffic households.3
