Customer Reviews

If you own a riding mower, you need this to ensure the highest quality cut!Works like a charm, I am finally getting a quality, level cut from my 42" Craftsman mower! While my deck was level from side to side, the front was pitched down almost a FULL INCH from the rear, resulting in a scalloped cut and serious clumping when mulching. I assumed that my mower was properly set up when it was delivered - boy I was wrong! I was spending 3+ hours using my old 21" Lawn Boy 2 stroke to cut my lawn because the cut on the rider was so terrible, it was embarrassing. Now that the deck is at the proper 1/8" forward pitch, the cut quality is much better (still not on par with the Lawn Boy, but close enough for me), and the clippings are being more evenly distributed and not clumping anymore.I checked my neighbor's John Deere, and his was set up incorrectly also. His deck was heeled back 1/2" and off almost 1/2" from side to side. His cut quality has drastically improved also. 5Convenient and ingenious tool. Huge time saver. This is worth the money in terms of the time it will save you. Especially if you have a commercial mowing business. From what I can tell, it's very accurate in terms of measuring the actual blade height, but what's even more important, is that you can be assured that it will be accurate in terms of measuring the relative height from one side of the mower to the other left/right front/back. In other words, regardless of how well it actually measures the actual height of the blades, it more importantly allows you to easily make sure that your mowing deck is level, which is what is going to give you the best cut anyway. And it's a huge time saver. 5Works GreatThis little tool is very easy to use to check the levelness of my multi-blade JD mower. Before, I tried to use a six-inch pocket ruler, but it was just too difficult to see and read the measurement. Now it is a breeze. 5Better than trying to use a rulerWorked well on my Husqvarna zero turn. It is cramped to try to get under the deck to take measurements. I can't think of any really easy way to do it but this worked well for me.It is important to realize that we are not trying to build a space ship so tolerances don't need to be to three decimals. It took a little time but I am now confident that my deck is level enough. Then I mowed a few rows and the grass passed the eyball test. Can't be better than that. This is an item I would buy again but doubt I will ever need to. 5Poor Quality plastic productStems 750-442 Deck Leveling Gauge was ordered from Amazon Prime and delivered to my mailbox in 2 days as promised but was deformed. It s very possible it was damaged in the envelope it was shipped in. Leveling arm is thin plastic which bends to the right and has a slight twist also. This delays my mower deck setup. Have to call Amazon for replacement.Update 5/7/19: Amazon sent a replacement leveling Gauge and said to trash the first one. The replacement arrived in the same envelope but wasn't damaged this time. I give amazon 5 stars and USPS 2 and a half stars for their improvement on the second delivery. I checked the gauge on a level surface to a ruler and it was off. I was looking to level my blades at 3 inches but gauge read 2-3/4". Still usable. 1It does workI own a Craftsman Professional Series Lawn Tractor 24 HP 42" deck. From the day Sears delivered it, set up & ready to go, never have been real pleased about the cut. Of course I've made adjustments here and there which kinda helped, purchased different blades, but? If you go by the Craftsman's destruction manual, they expect you to measure the distance from the blade to the ground. At least on my model, impossible. They also suggest to eyeball the deck from side to side, then make adjustments. I remove my deck each year to mount my snow plow. So each spring comes the frustration of leveling the deck or at least trying to.I was highly skeptical as to whether or not this little plastic tool was going to work, even after reading the positive reviews due to the shenanigans around different amazon stores over the last year or so.Let me point out this tool was made for leveling the deck on a different brand of lawn tractors/mowers. Also the tool comes without destructions. It only took me about 5 minutes to figure out how to use it. I couldn't believe that I was almost 1/8" on the discharge side and the front was off. There is no doubt some frustrated lawn tractor owner came up with this idea, it's simple design makes leveling you're deck a breeze. What I thought was cool was watching the tools arm move as you adjust the deck bringing it to level. I'm easily amused when a simplistic tool actually works! In my opinion, this tool should work for most decks as long as the deck skirt doesn't hang low with you're blades tucked way up. Some newer models are made this way, no doubt designed by lawyers.I do recommend this tool, it should last quite a while if you put it away, keep the grand kids/kids from playing with it. The only "Con" or negative things I can come up with is, it's made of plastic and lightweight. It was a bit wobbly from side to side. I would like to see some type of lock so once a measurement has been made, you're able to compare it to the opposite side. If the base was a bit wider, it would take the wobble out of it. Again it's made from plastic and inexpensive, it is what it is. You can purchase a similar tool made from metal that does cost more money. But for the ordinary homeowner needing to level a deck, I don't see the need for the more expensive one. I would have given it 5 stars if some type of destructions to at least give an idea where to begin & it wasn't quite as wobbly. 4A necessity if you are leveling your mower deckThis product drastically improved the cut quality on my zero turn mower. My deck was tilted to the rear and out of spec according to the manufacturers recommendations. It is virtually impossible to measure actual blade height without this tool. It can be done, but it is probably going to take you at least 3x as long and it won't be as accurate. Well worth the money even if you use it once and never again. 5cuts great and smoothThis is the tool I've needed for a long time. Absolutely a must tool. Just purchased a ridding mower that was returned to the large retail store. Return reason the mower would not cut the grass on a level plane. I used the deck leveling tool to level the deck and guess what, cuts great and smooth. This tool saved me big bucks on the purchase. As much as 60% on retail price. I would suggest this to anyone who has a ridding mower that doesn't cut level. 5Cheap But works! This item works but it is very cheaply made. Mine arrived bent and the slightest movement moves the needle. I also bought the Oregon on Ebay (Not on Amazon Prime). The Oregon was 13 cents more but it is made ten times better. It has a spring so it will go right to the actual blade height. The Stens kept moving even with the slightest touch the gauge moved. I had to check and check constantly. The Oregon is the way to go but I will keep them both for each side of the deck. 1Great, easy to use, but wish it was metalThis does exactly what it is supposed to do. It's plastic, as are many products these days. I have no problems with it, yet, but since it's plastic, I cannot see this lasting forever like old metal tools used to. Also, it would be nice if it was designed with a cutout / opening so the measurement could be read from both sides. 4
