Tough, reliable, trustworthy. I absolutely LOVE these flashlights. They are extremely bright, the batteries last forever, and they are TOUGH as hell. I keep one on my helmet (with the Streamlight strap), and I have several others multiple other places. They are my go-to flashlight for every purpose. Keep one in my pack, one in the truck, one in the garage.Speaking to their toughness: Not only are they waterproof, but I can personally attest that they will stand up to even the most grueling conditions. Mine has stood up to a 600-degree fire situation (1000 degrees at the fire when we started to get some serious rollover, 600 where I was, according to our TIC), and only a small amount of melting happened to the rubber on the front of the light. It still completely works, and never shut off.Love these Streamlights, and I will trust them in any situation. 5Bright idea We must own 6-7 of these, and they just work. Probably the best option for long run time, and nothing other than Princeton Tec comes close at this price point. Only complaint is the tail switch can engage if the light is left in a vehicle door pocket where it is subject to movement. Just bought two more due to the failure of an older Princeton Tec unit. Both companies have lifetime warranties and having used both, they are easy to deal with. 5rugged This is my 3rd of these flashlighs. I've brought them into burning buildings and the only damage was a bit of soot. There's a reason that more firefighters carry Streamlight flashlights to their incidents than any other (at least in the departments I'm familiar with). Note that they won't look quite as yellow after a house fire or two but they'll shine just as bright. I can't for the life of me think of a reason to buy any other brand of flashlight. 5Totally Worth The Price I've owned this 4AA LED flashlight for about 5 years and gotta say it is worth every penny. First, the company stands behind their products. I had a switch problem after 3 years of use so I contacted the company and they quickly sent me out a self-repair kit. They even offered me the option of sending in the unit for them to repair but I like to tinker with stuff and it was a very easy fix. Second, this compact flashlight throws a good light and the batteries last quite a long time. I've had no LED burnouts in the 10 years I've owned it. I'm back in the market for another cuz wife has recently taken mine for use in her evening dog walks and recently misplaced it somewhere in the house. Now I just have to figure out how to hide the new one from her when it arrives otherwise I'll be stuck using the cheap Husky light I have as a backup in my tool bucket.Update 1/24/13: I own two of the Streamlight 4AA units and the older one (probably 10 years old) began to suffer from a light module failure (3 of the LED lights off, two flashing and two on). I searched online for a replacement module and the best I could find was $16 plus $9 for shipping (not worth it cause a new unit sells for $26 on Amazon). For the heck of it, I called the Eagleville PA facility and they said they'd fix it for free (just ship it in). I happen to live < 10 miles from Eagleville so I asked if I could stop by in-person and was pleasantly surprised to hear they had a walk-in repair window service. I was in that area this morning so I stopped in and the nice folks swapped out the light module with a new one and I was back on the road in < 10 minutes. Seriously, this is a company that American's should do business with. There must've been nearly 200 cars in the employee parking lot and the shop floor was buzzing with folks working. I was already loyal but after seeing that set-up today I will only consider these guys for any future light purchases. Buying their quality products give American's jobs instead of buying cheaper products made in Chinese sweatshops. Their products may be a bit more expensive to buy but the warranty they provide more than offsets the initial purchase cost. 5Runtime not what expected Perfectly reasonable and simple flashlight but I was surprised to learn its 155 hour runtime is, er, optimistic. The back of the package has a chart of how far the beam will project over time (picture below). At 155 hours of runtime the beam is all of 3 feet - ouch. Based on the chart the light is probably not very effective even at the 65 hour mark. Even the Streamlight website did not make this clear. It wasn't until the package arrived that I saw these details. 3Streamlight 68201 4AA ProPolymer LED Flashlight i've had one of these for years and it was very reliable until recently the led's were failing one by one (total of seven in the lens assembly) ... i checked on line for a replacement lens assembly and found out they were selling (insert sarcasm) for only $24.00 .... after a few seconds of pondering i decided to trash the old flashlight and purchase a new one for the $28.00 price tag .... hopefully this one will last longer than the last one, or, maybe, the replacement lens price will drop to a somewhat reasonable price 52 YEAR UPDATE: If anything it can be TOO bright, goes for mucho hours, lights up long n wide, and fits in most pockets The beam spread is wide, but the 7 LED head is even wider in the pocket, and doesn't fit as well as the ol mag light . . having said that, this puppy is much brighter, and appears much better made than the latest iteration of led mag lights, which repeatedly failed in the dumbest of ways . . so much for American manufacturing going to China . . .The 7 LED head is a bit wider than easier storage in a pocket would prefer; it JUST fits in the side pocket of the ol Carhartts . . the yellow poly body, protection from water under a sink, ease of switching, and comfort in the hand, make up for it. Switch is in the back, but it works either momentary or on-off, and is mostly protected, in a pocket, or tool belt pocket, but not so hot in a bag. 2 YEAR UPDATE: black paint wears off the yellow body, flashlight tends to roll off counters, behind your head UNDER counters, and down the hall in a crooked little house. Floats if the lab puppy steals it and then drops it in the "water feature".2 YEAR UPDATE: FLICKERING BATTERY PROBLEM SOLVED: Dumb but true, slip a thin piece of cardboard between the 2 stacks of batteries, no wiggle, no flickering, no joke . . these flashlights do it and do it and do it.The beam spread is bright, and wide as in nearly day light for 30-40 feet wide up to 50 feet away, at least at first, and with only 4 AA's, cheaply . . . they say about 30 hours before the drop off is so severe you might wanna change batteries, but this lil puppy will work for many more hours than that, if you can still use it with less brightness or less throw. If you want it to use under a cabinet, it'll work for weeks before you have to replace those 4 batteries . . . . REALLY 4Quibbles. Good strong beam. Tail cap button can be partially depressed for brief on, or clicked for remain on. When installing the included Energizer batteries, the LED cap looks pretty chincy. I have other Streamlights, all aluminum, and this one sure feels cheap. It s lightweight. Big issue: the batteries flop around and click inside the body annoyingly with any movement. Click, click. Too much room. Truly annoying compared to the more closely machined Streamlights I ve previously owned. Frankly, would be hard to take over time, so I wadded up an elastic band and carefully placed it in the battery compartment, which sounds easy but it s not, and the irritating clicking stops. I certainly couldn t stand it if I had to wear this in my helmet. The provided lanyard and split ring is equally cheaply manufactured, it looks like something worthy of holding an ID tag at a convention. And it clicks metal against the plastic body every time you use it. Lousy stuff. I replaced it with an eight inch rubber band larksheaded through the plastic lanyard hole and tossed the Streamlight lanyard in the trash. The whole light feels flimsy and time will tell if the inexpensive LED head holds up. Unimpressed. Will not repurchase in future. 3A Nice Flashlight This flashlight has a great beam of light. It illuminates a good distance away while also having a nice spread as well. The batteries seem to last a normal amount of time for a smaller electronic device, definitely not great but not abnormally bad either. The durability of the product is pretty nice as well. My dog decided to grab it off the counter once and had it likely for 5+ minutes without doing any damage to it. It's also survived 5 foot falls a few times plus it has worked well in both very cold & hot situations.A great flashlight that is durable and provides good light. 5Brighten your day (and night) This light is extremely bright and the batteries last a long time. There are many cheaper alternatives to this product, but the Streamlight name continues to carry the dependability and quality I have always received. Between myself and my contractors, we probably have 200 of these flashlights at our plant. These lights outlast any other brand we have come across in terms of both battery usage and durability. They will take a beating. This particular model gives off a crisp clean light that illuminates wherever you a pointing. A solid purchase you will not regret. 5
