THE BEST Chalk line on the marketBY FAR. THE BEST Chalk line on the market, and ive used just about them all. The box itself if wonderfully constructed, even if it is just plastic. The second gen switched from aluminum to add the "See through window" as well as cost effects im sure. Regardless the plastic is ABS. Tough stuff. The reel is somewhere around 4x, very fast, very fluid. Iv yet to have it jam, and Ive overloaded it purposely to see if it would. I DO reccomend the Tajima Micro chalk. Its a delightful consistency for chalk. It transfers better then your cheaper chalks, Just dont get it wet.5Try it and you will wonder why you didn't get one sooner! Only got to use it once and it turned up missing. Someone obviously liked it as much as I did. Used it with the Tajima chalk and it lays down a super visible narrow chalk line. Use it primarily for cutting sheathing and it works better than any chalk line I have ever used. Try it once and you will understand why this is the Cadillac of chalk lines. 5Ducked with out Proper LubricationHaving owned a previous model Tajima chalk line, I m highly disappointed! This thing makes the biggest mess I ve ever seen! I use Tajima s permanent Red chalk for setting tile so you can imagine the mess I have. I d been better off with a Harbour Frieght back door special. I feel like I took it in the back door after paying for this worthless junk. Lesson learned: they don t make em like they use to.1Nice, sturdy chalk lineI ve been wanting to try out a Tajima chalk line for a while now, but not badly enough to pull the trigger on a $30 chalk line when I have an Irwin that does a fine job leaving a nice straight line and 4 or 5 spares sitting around. But when I saw the Tajima Bold chalk line on sale for $18 I made the purchase. It s made of a thick, sturdy plastic that I feel will be able to withstand being used on a job site daily. The hook is large but I wouldn t consider that either a pro or a con. The best thing about this chalk line is the latch or hook that you snap the hook of the line into when your done using it. Doing this prevents the line getting caught on something in your tool belt or tool box and dumping chalk all over the place. Overall it s a nice chalk line and I m happy I was able to buy it at the price I did.5best box everRooofer for 18 years and i use a chalk line every day ive worked. Have owned every "brand" name box. And broke every one of them. Might break this one too but its far superior to all others. Filled it the day i bought the first one and it lasted MONTHS before needing refilled. Doesn't lose piles of chalk when pulling line out. I now own 2 of them. Now the durability test. Already lasted longer then most.5Great quality product Great product. I do concrete foundations and layout footings and snap lines for grade constantly. Was always replacing crappy chalk boxes that costed 10-25$ every time. This one is just a bit more but you get what you pay for. So far so good I can t complain at all. Great quality product. Nice string line, it s not made cheap by any means. 5Ease of use- smoothIt s a little large. Bigger than the traditional chalk line I m used to but has much better features. It fits tight in my tool pouch, but that s a good thing. My old chalk line just sank and got wedged and I was always wasting time digging it out. The Tajima s ease of use is amazing! I love the thin braided line and the way the tip is designed. It grips better and is easier to line up than traditional chalk lines. Don t even get me started on the line lock- game changer right there folks! I can never go back to a basic chalk line. This thing has just spoiled me for life. A really great tool for any tool belt.5Line broke after 10 snapsThis chalk line tool worked great for about 10 snaps. It started getting difficult to wind it back into the tool but was still working and then I went to snap a line and the line broke. After about 10 snaps. I am a DIYer so my livelihood doesn't depend on this tool, but I am not at all pleased that this happened inside a single project.2Recommend highly but just remember it's made of plastic! This is my second Tajima snap line. The first one's brake tab broke after a couple years. Frankly the tab was one of the main reasons I bought this particular model, so when it broke I was compelled to go and buy another one. Being that the whole casing is made of plastic it was inevitable that it would break eventually. Just wish it was a little sturdier. 4Best Chalk Line I've Had In Years!!I can't tell you how many Chalk Lines I have purchased over the last 8 years from Home Depot and Lowes and they are ALL GARBAGE!! Some only last about 5 pulls!! These Chalk Lines are Fantastic!!! Smooth pull and it only takes about 3 to fully coat the whole line! The line holds the chalk nicely for a good even line! I wasn't sure about using the line lock feature but I am used to it now and I love it! We set up Pallet Racking in warehouses and use a chalk line extensively! It has never jammed up and winds back up smoothly! Just remember that with any chalk line, you do not want to overfill it! I also like that you can see (through the plastic case) how much chalk is in it! Fill it about 3/4 and just give it a couple of shakes! Nice Product!!5OKTried this chalk line for maybe 2 years. I am a working General Contractor. Use this to snap lines to layout plate, wall to wall straight line for trusses and various other work related activities. For the money, a good chalk line should have a neutral gear disengage, this one does not. But, the truly disappointing feature is that the tip does not stay tight & leaks quite a bit of chalk out. This maybe because of age, but I do recall this happening when it was new also. I realize that all leak out the tip, but this one leaks more than other cheaper brands I have used.3The best chalk line I've ever usedI have owned several of the standard chalk lines that I've picked up at the Home Depot over the years. I have been the GC (general contractor) on several large residential jobs. The DeWalt & Irwin chalk lines are good & fairly standard tools; however this chalk line is FANTASTIC.It legitimately holds more chalk-per-snap, holds more chalk in the case, and keeps a sharper line. The metal clip certainly holds the edge of materials better than the standard metal clip you get with other chalk lines. The locking mechanism is nice, but I've already developed habits of using a chalk line without the lock, so as it is a nice feature, it's rarely used. The cranking arm actually retracts! If you've used other chalk lines for any real period of time, you know that this feature almost NEVER works.Is it twice as good as all the others? No, it's not. Is it the best chalk line I've ever owned? Without a doubt.5meh..I expected a little more quality. I like how the chalk line is really thin, but I don't like how there isn't a rubber or felt gasket where the string comes out. Because when the box is full of chalk, and you pull the string out, chalk pours out with it all over the place. Not a huge deal, but c'mon, it's not hard to add a rubber or felt gasket to stop the chalk from pouring out, like my old dewalt chalk box had... Also, It's not smooth at all when you real it in.3Ergonomic Time will tell whether it holds up to jobsite stress but I do like the feel of it right out of the package. I loaded it with ordinary blue chalk and it lays down a very nice, precise line. The toggle lock is a great feature. The retrieval rate is nice, the crank operates smoothly. The hook holds secure and shakes free nicely when you're done. 5
