Helped with spit up issues We were having a lot of trouble with spit up/reflux with our daughter. I tried a lot of different bottles but none seemed to make a difference. I'd pretty much given up until I stumbled upon the Tommee Tippee Advanced Anti-Colic bottle and decided to give it a try because it looked a bit different than the others I had tried. I have noticed a dramatic improvement. It really isn't that much more work to clean the extra parts either. The only thing you really have to watch is making sure the little silicone bit doesn't seal together. Also if you forget a piece when you put it together you are going to get milk all over. Best way to prevent that is to hold the bottle sideways over the sink after assembly to make sure. 5not recommended. bottle is deformed and not ready from factory. Bought the set of 3. All three were missing the vent hole to properly vent the bottle with air.One of the bottles has a deformed bottom so even with the hold cut out by myself, there is no way the air can travel with the bottom plasic blocking the vent hold because of the deformity. Which did not happen because I boiled. I was just taking it out of the box, and inspecting due to all the negative reviews I read about.Unfortunately all the reviews I read were right and not the good kind. I already have a fussy newborn. Thanks for making my headache that much larger.Guess my search for better bottle will go on. I can not recommend this bottle at all. 1Definitely buyers remorse. I purchased this set very excited because of the great reviews. I'm very disappointed in this product as it does not compare to other brands. I supplement so I bottle feed several times a day and everytime I use one of these bottles my baby ends up choking on the formula and it spills out everywhere. I am using the correct stage 1 nipples as well. I have tried the Phillips brand and Dr. Brown brand and my baby does not have any trouble with these bottles, no choking and no spillage with these two. My suggestion is to buy single bottles from a couple different brands to see what works best for your baby. 1Manufacturing defects cause nipples to collapse. Anti-colic function compromised. I had high hopes for these bottles, but poor quality control is quite problematic. These bottles are advertised as anti-colic. This is accomplished by providing a vent which allows air into the bottom of the bottle, eliminating the suction drawing air back through the nipple and introducing air into the milk or formula. There is a vent at the bottom of the tube, which is vented through a hole underneath the outer rim of the lid/nipple. This kit comes with six bottles. Of the six bottles, four had major issues. The nipples would completely collapse under the vacuum created from feeding, and would then draw air back through the nipple, adding all the air these bottles are designed to eliminate. This shouldn't happen on an anti-colic bottle that vents to outside air. Upon inspection, I found all four bottles that were malfunctioning lacked the slit in the silicone one way valve. It was never able to vent because there was no passageway cut in it. Frustrated, I used a new sharp razor blade and cut the slits myself. This took care of most of the problem. Unfortunately, only having one hole under the cap, it can still be temperamental. Making sure the vent hole is on the top helps, but you then have to remember where it is positioned since you can't see the hole with the lid on. That's easier said than done on a round bottle. And still, sometimes it acts up for no apparent reason. Taking it apart and reassembling it mid-feeding usually corrects it, but babies aren't usually patient and understanding when it comes to stopping their feeding time. I think the design is good. I think the quality is poor. I also think there needs to be a slightly slower flow rate than the rate the number 1 nipples flow. I feel my two stars are generous, especially considering 2/5 equates to a 40% when only 33% of my bottles came without manufacturing defects. And of the 33% (two good bottles), they still only work correctly about 75% of the time. Bottom line, I don't recommend these bottles at this time. Maybe if they step up their quality control it could be a good bottle. But I have lost faith in the product and will be trying something different. There are cheaper, especially if you get the standard bottles and forgo the anti-colic, which these bottles don't really have anyway. 2The best bottle for breastfed babies! My absolute favorite bottles! These are far and away the best bottles we have tried! My son is breastfed and the wider nipples on these seem to work much better than standard ones. I love that they have the anti-colic feature and the temperature gauge is such a genius idea! It's very easy to tell when the bottle is warm enough which my husband loves since he always questions the temperature when he does feedings.The only issue I noticed is the two of the star-shaped pieces that go inside the bottle weren't completely slit so the nipples kept collapsing on those two. After looking things over it was easy to see that was the issue and pulling on the sides easily broke it open and fixed the problem. 5Defective parts Two bottles came with defective parts (the inside anti colic components). The clear, silicone end did not have an opening and therefore did not vent properly. I drove myself crazy trying to figure out what the problem was, and then read some reviews stating that the silicone end should have a slit to actually vent the air. I checked for a slit and only 1 of the 3 bottles had one. I ended up tossing the defective ones in the garbage. And then I came across a review that said you could actually cut an opening yourself (I thought it had to be a certain size hole so I didn t even bother before throwing them out). Anyway...wasted my money I suppose. I would recommend purchasing these elsewhere. 1(This was not an easy task. So here is the break down of ... I have tried 6 different types of bottles for my breast fed baby. She suffers from gas so I wanted to try the anti gas/colic bottles and a bottle that was as close to breast feeding as possible. (This was not an easy task. If there is no hole the valve won t work. The nipple will suck back into itself.Check if air can pass thru valve by filling stem with water and try to blow water through the valve. If water doesn t pass through neather will air.Two of three bottles had incomplete holes.There s probably a white spot where the hole should be. Poke tip of sharp knife through the spot, on a wooden cutting board works well. Or heat a needle and push through.They ll work fine after that. The TT nipples change as children age so make sure you ve the right nipple and that the valves work.They re very easy for babies to hold the wide part of the bottle will rest on a baby s chest and the nipples in the right spot to suck. A baby doesn t have to hold their arms up so far as with a skinny bottle. 4IF YOUR BOTTLE LEAKS OR NIPPLE COLLAPSES >>> I LOVE these bottles. I've tried every other brand out there. I mean that very literally.If your bottle leaks or nipple collapses it's super easy to fix. Because of the way these bottles are made you have to check the vent at the bottom of the insert peice. Pinch it to make sure it's not stuck together . This will keep the nipple from collapsing. Dishwashers especially cause the vent to stick together and not let air out.If your bottle is leaking. You CAN NOT heat up your bottle with the cap over the nipple. Just keep the cap off and all leaking should be cured :) good luck! 5Very disappointed with this brand Very disappointed with this brand. My 5 week old baby has no problem latching on The dr brown bottles, yet i decided to get these so she could try another kind of bottle just in case. . These nipples collapse inside her mouth inverting them and causing a MASSIVE leak around her little mouth. Breast milk is way too precious to be soaking a burping cloth with it on each feed. Same problem with the regular tommee tippee bottles. Also, unless you turn the bottle absolutely upside down, some liquid gets stuck in the rim of the shape of the bottle...again...not planning on letting any breast milk get left behind. Very sad because i really wanted to like these brand and god knows i tried. 1
