    So what exactly is the point of these?I bought this to hopefully remove waffles from our waffle iron after cooking. But they don't work for that unfortunately and I cannot see any possible utility for these things otherwise. Why would one need a separate set of tongs to pick up waffles? With so many kitchen gizmos you could have clogging up your drawers, I really can't see the point of these. 2Very disappointedThese were delivered to me Oct. 13, 2016. They seemed to me that they would last as the said to 400 degrees. I used them to flip bacon and other meats and they were never left in the pan in grease or in a temperature of 400 and as of last night all of the silicone is open and the metal inside exposed. I am so surprised by this because the quality of these appeared to be so good that I went back and purchased more. I hope they do better than these have. 2Handy gadget that will get a lot of useI really like this little gadget. I have loads of gadgets in my kitchen drawer. This one gets lots of use. I bought it to pick up the Belgian waffles that I recently started making. It's very handy. Not too big, not too small. It cleans easily: I rinse it in the sink immediately after using. The little circle thing on the end pulls out to unlock and then pushes in to lock. I just started using it for my indoor electric grill items, as well. Works great for that too. 5Great set of tongsWe love these tongs. They work great with non-stick pans (no scratching) and delicate food items. We found metal tongs sometimes ripped food, but these silicone ones don't. They wash well and don't stain. Only reason I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 was that both pairs I had broke after 18 months. That didn't stop me from ordering another couple pairs though! 4Well made but didn't work for meI make grain free waffles on a daily basis for my husband and sometimes they are difficult to remove from the waffle maker. The tool I had before this one had thin "fingers" and worked well however the rubber coating tore away leaving exposed metal to scratch the waffle maker plates. This new tool is all firm silicone but unfortunately the fingers are too large and curved too much to fit in and release the waffles so I am back to carefully using a fork to release and the Tovolo Tong to hold the hot waffle. This tool is well made, has a great price point but just did not work for my specific needs. 4Good Mini TongsLock feature does not work well for one handed use. The spring mechanism cocks the lock to one side and makes it bind. The tongs work very well. The silicone coating is great. The shape and size is perfect for my 4 and 6 pans while also reaching into my broiler. Great tool for the kitchen. I really wish the metal edges were finished better on the insides of the handles. Easily a 4 or 5 star with a couple of tweaks. 3I thought these tongs would be a great addition to our waffling life-- but they didn't live ...I thought these tongs would be a great addition to our waffling life-- but they didn't live up to my expectations. The spring in them is not as strong as I would like and because of this, I took off stars. They should spring back open and not need "help". Maybe I got a dud? I do like the fingers on it for grabbing. 3Quality not as good as the older versionI have an older version of this mini-turner in the green color, and it's fantastic! It has lasted for at least a couple of years now, always being cleaned in the dishwasher. It's a handy little tool to have when turning small things like chicken nuggets and the like in the middle of baking, as well as grabbing onto small foods when serving. I wanted a spare, so I bought another in the blue color for a little variation. Unfortunately, the silicone of the blue is obviously not the same quality as the older green one and smells strongly of chemicals. It's not a smooth silicone and is, instead, some kind of pebbled texture. In addition, the seams and edges are more obvious and look more likely to peel or shed while cooking. Only time will tell, but there's such an obvious difference in the quality between the two, so I'm giving 3 stars because I love my older green turner but am disappointed in the cheaper quality of this newer one. 3Great quality tongs at a great priceLove these! I've purchased two of them. Durable and well priced. I can assure you that once you use these you will want more.Not all silicone tongs are created equal! I've seen friend's ones that are similar but the stainless steel is of poorer quality and the silicone is hard and not as grippy. The other important thing to note is that bigger tongs are not necessarily better; we use these smaller ones way more than our larger ones, as often as are using them for small containers of fruit of small entr es and big tongs are too big. 5You might not know it, but you need these tongsI am not a cook and do not enjoy cooking -- so I appreciate anything that makes the cooking process easier and more efficient.These tongs are one of the most useful utensils I have in my kitchen, and I use them daily.Particularly appreciate the locking mechanism so that the tongs stow minimally.Well engineered and sturdily constructed.Compact size makes for easy handling and storage. 5
