Other reviews I saw said it needed to "re-expand" after being compressed for shipment - I don't think it needed it but I laid it out flat as soon as I got it & let it sit a few hours before I put in on the bed. It fully covered the king size bed (I saw reviews of other products where the mattress pad was slightly smaller than the bed supposedly so it was easier to put the sheets on). I use safety pins to keep the sheets securely in place on the mattress/pad - but I had to do that even before the addition of the 3" foam pad. I bought the pad to try to extend the life of my mattress - which should be replaced. Due to my poor bed I was waking up with aches & pains (I'm of good health & normal weight) and this pad has helped a lot. Its only been 2 weeks & I'm still getting used to the extra layer but I'm sleeping better & waking up less.5
