    Description

    • They grow to be 3-8 inches long, and are 2 or 3 times bigger than their smaller cousins, the red wigglers (Eisenia Fotida).
    • The euros are certainly better for larger foods that aren't as broken down, or for leaves and other tougher material that has not been pre-composted.
    • Can be successfully introduced to most garden environments. They are mid range dwellers and will till and aerate your soil for you, while supplying valuable castings.
    • This pack contains approximately 650 worms to a pound.

    Nice worms, good for raised beds and square foot gardens.A couple of months back, I put 2lb of these in my raised bed, (8 x 4 , 22 high, the bottom half being 50/50 soil/compost and topped up with Mel Bartholomew s vermiculite/peat/compost SFG mix.) The second night was damp and I was racing around picking up escapees and returning them to my Worm Tower. I feared that I had lost all of them, except maybe a few that had stayed in the tower. Forward to now and I recently planted a number of potted seedlings in their squares. No massive digging, just enough trowel fulls to make room for their roots. Pleased to see worms in just about all the squares, three of them in one square. They weren t exactly hugely long, maybe averaged about 5 or 6 inches, but nice and fat, wriggling well and a good plump band, the name of which escapes me but I believe it is a key part of breeding activity. I dropped them back in my worm tower where they quickly made it back underground.The consignment arrived quickly and the worms left their bags being a good size, looking active and perfectly fine, no signs of dehydration or other problems.Updated July 1st 2018Replanted some of my squares where I had had peas. Many, many active worms of all sizes in each trowelfull. The ground was alive with worms getting out of the light. Also turned over the contents of my worm tower and the lower section was also full of active worms of all sizes. I could probably use this bed as a commercial worm farm! 5Good fishing bait.I'm using these for bait. These are definitely not as big as Canadian nightcrawlers, but big enough for panfish and more active than Canadians. I've caught plenty of fish on these. They also reproduce quickly. I keep them In an old deep freezer. In less than 3 months they have easily tripled in quantity. I see hundreds of babies in their home. Loads of egg sacks as well. I use an equal mix of coco fiber, peat moss, shredded newspaper, and top soil for bedding.I live in Florida, it's hot this time of year so i bury a 2liter bottle with frozen water in the middle on hot days. Keeps them from overheating great. I feed them a mix of veggie scraps and worm chow. I also grind up egg shells and sprinkle in some aglime occasionally to help keep PH in check and prevent protein poisoning. Minimal upkeep needed and much cheaper than buying worms every time i go fishing. 5Uncle Jim rocks when you need worms.Helps with speeding all our composting. From garden to horse manure... Thanks for another good deal. 5Great worms for the yard or gardenI use worms in my yard to naturally aerate my grass and provide some extra nutrients. I also have a worm bin in my basement for composting my table scraps and left overs that have spoiled. Uncle Jim's Worms have always arrived alive and ready to go. Add some water and a proper environment and they will do the rest, including multiply. 5TinyI read the description b4 ordering and just went back and re-read. I got the impression I was buying fully grown nightcrawlers. Instead I received nightcrawlers about the size of angel hair spaghetti. I was informed it will take about 11 weeks for them to reach maturity. Guess I'll be buying more nightcrawlers if I want to fish this summer. 2Happy wormsThis is my second order and they delivered ahead of schedule. When I tracked it on Amazon I saw that the worms had been delivered three days earlier. I rushed to the post office and they found the package and apologized.
