Comes with power cords for both units I just recieved this and 2 seperate power cords that I ordered since they said "frequently bought together". I couldn't find anything in the description that said this came with power cords. It says rechargeable battery for power source, so assumed it didn't have cords. I'll be returning the extra cords & hopefully this review will save someone else from making the mistake I did. 3Fantastic monitor! These are fantastic. Great price, no extra unnecessary bells and whistles. The parent one has a decent battery and range, and I love that it beeps when it's running out of battery or out of range. You can toggle how sensitive or loud you want it to be and there's a cool talk feature that allows you to talk into the parent one so baby can hear you (I have yet to use that but I have no doubt I will as baby gets older, since I know I would have used that with my son when he was smaller.) I don't have a screen to stare at and obsess over, it doesn't connect over our terrible wifi so no worries there, and it lets you know if something is wrong- wrong with its system or wrong with baby. Oh, and as you can probably tell, it's SUPER portable! We take this over to my parents' house all the time and we don't have to reset everything, just plug it in and go. We even brought it to my grandparents' house, where my grandma has the exact same model to monitor my great grandma. The range is great- she can go outside or upstairs and still hear everything, and our two monitors didn't get confused and pick up each others' signals.I have yet to encounter a single dissatisfying feature of this monitor. I'd buy it again. I'd give it as a baby shower gift. I'd get it in addition to a more sophisticated monitor setup so that I had a backup in case it failed, or in case I needed a portable one. Buy this, I doubt you'll regret it. 5You're gonna love it. I have loved this monitor - 3 people in my family have one now and we all love it. I have had mine for 3 years and it still works like brand new. I am extremely clumsy and have dropped the parent unit countless times. It has dings as a result but it's functions have never been negatively affected by the falls.The parent unit will stay charged when unplugged for 6-8 hrs and it notifies you with a recurring beep when the charge is running out. I do wish the child unit could be unplugged and work on battery, but it must be plugged in to work. I like that the cords are interchangeable so they work for either the child or parent unit.The range is excellent- I can go anywhere in my 6000sq foot house and not go out of range. I can even go outside in my front or back yard. Huge bonus! I love that it let's you know when you are out of range (using a beeping sequence) so I'm not constantly wondering if I'll be able to hear my child.I love that you can change the sensitivity and volume, use it to talk to your child, and use the child unit as a night light. The light is a very dim yellow so don't expect it to give much light, but sometimes the small glow is just what I want. It picks up even the smallest sounds my kids makes if the sensitivity is high.There are other fancy listening monitors but this one is amazing and affordable. 5 Went silent in the middle of the night. Spend a little more to assure quality. Any monitor that decides to STOP WORKING in the middle of the night while you re asleep is horrible in my book. Woke up to my 3 year old crying next to my bed saying she has been screaming for me. Did I mention I live in a two story house and my daughters bedroom Is upstairs and ours is down?? We have a baby gate also that she s smart enough to open (but generally knows not to.) I grab the monitor and it says linked, max volume but there s zero noise coming from it. Let me just say I m lucky my daughter didn t tumble down the stairs. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. 1Alternate uses I actually purchased this monitor for my parents. After my dad's second fall outside and my mother not hearing him yell for her while she was inside, I thought this might be a good solution. I read the reviews on several different devices and ultimately went with this one. We are very very pleased with this monitor! They keep one outside on the back porch and one inside. The sound quality is fantastic and very clear! I cannot believe how much and how far away you can hear with this. We did several tests to make sure this would work for their needs and with over an acre of land, while standing as far back on the property as we could, the sounds of yelling for help were loud and clear!!! 5Does not stay linked We have been using this model with my son for over a year without issue, so when it came time to register for our new baby we asked for the same monitor. Unfortunately it is completely defective. The monitor comes "un-linked" every night without fail. Sometimes it will stay linked for only an hour, sometimes for several hours. Never has it stayed linked through the night and even if we can get it to re-link it becomes un-linked again in short order. We have tried changing the location of the monitors, distance between monitor and receiver, and power cycling the monitor. It is extraordinarily frustrating to be woken in the middle of the night, every night by a defective monitor. We have actually had to switch to a different brand because this one is so consistently unreliable. I would never recommend this. The Graco monitor that we have been using in place of this one has been great. 1Great value; Fancier than I need We moved into a two story home and realized we needed something to help us hear the baby when downstairs. Its exactly what I needed, and has some cool features I'm impressed by but have no use for. But if I had a use for them I'd be thrilled! One such feature allows you to talk through the parent monitor to baby. My husband and I have used this to talk to each other when we are on different levels of the house. That's been kind of fun- a throwback to my childhood. And it is sweet to hear him talk and sing to the baby through the monitor when it is his turn to change him. I am worried about baby monitors being hacked, because of Facebook rumors, so having it turned on all the time worries me a little, but I have not found any evidence that I should actually be worried with this monitor.Now that I've had the monitor for a month or so I can attest to its usefulness in new ways. My favorite feature is the night light. Whoever designed it had some real good feedback regarding waking babies at night. My infant often needs to be fed or changed when it is so dark I can't see myself in his room. The night light slowly grows to a soft orange which allows me to see without disturbing baby. The last thing you want is to flash a bright light on baby when you both want to get back to sleep at 2 am. And then the light slowly fades without your having to deal with buttons. Hands free! How helpful! 4This is a great baseline baby monitor This is a great baseline baby monitor. You don't have to shell too much out and you get basic function. That said, this is touted as a cordless unit--plug it in and then you can unplug and go about your day. I've never been able to get the parent unit to stay charged more than a few minutes at a time, and this is our second set of this exact model. That's quite alright though. We use it in our camper primarily, and we take the parent unit outside to play cards or sit around the fire, so we have access to power almost always. It's just slightly annoying as that would be a great feature. Additionally, it says up to 1000 feet. I think this might be feasible if there were no walls or electronics in between the units. We start to lose reception much sooner than that through normal walls, camper walls, etc. 3No babies in this household, but incredibly helpful with geriatric home recovery. No babies in the house, but I bought this for my parents to use as an intercom monitoring system.My parents have a large, ranch style house and my father is recently home from a lengthy hospital and rehab facility stay. I live out of state and cannot be here with my parents full time.The purpose of this monitor was so we could leave the "baby" unit in their bedroom/bathroom, one "parent" unit out in the living areas, and the other parent unit in the kitchen. This way my mom can go about her day without having to run back and forth checking on my dad.We were initially loaned a unit from a friend which didn't have the talk back capability. Although this helped my mom keep tabs on my dad, if she heard something, she couldn't respond without physically running into their bedroom.The "talk back" capability of this unit is what makes this so very handy. If my mom hears my dad moving around, she doesn't have to run into the bedroom to check on him - - - she can just use the monitor to ask "do you need anything?". Since the "baby" unit is the one in their bedroom, he doesn't have to physically have the baby unit in hand - - - he just needs to speak and say he's okay, or ask for help getting dressed. Both parent units are press-to-talk (not open communication), which means they always receive sounds transmitted from the baby unit, but in order to talk to the baby, you have to press-to-talk. Very helpful because if mom is watching tv, listening to music, chatting on the phone etc, there is no worry that any of those sounds in the living areas are being broadcast to the baby unit in their bedroom.The baby base unit reception is incredibly strong. We placed it between their bedroom and their attached master bathroom. It picks up sounds from both bedroom and bathroom amazingly (and sometimes embarrassingly) well.Cannot vouch for the battery life of the parent units, but they easily last several hours, which has been more than sufficient for my mom's use. She takes it with her when she's working out in their garden, and doesn't worry about running in every so often to check on my dad.And, because little things also mean a lot, bonus stars because these units are discreet and don't visually scream out that they're baby monitors. On top of his medical issues, my dad's pride has also taken a hit with his recent dependency needs. If these screamed out that they were for babies, that would be another smack to his pride. We've been calling them portable intercoms, and thus, no dignity issues. The baby unit is about the size of a large lemon, and the parent units are about the size of a small avocado. All of them easily just sit on a counter or table without calling attention to themselves.Super helpful, extremely clear strong transmission. Highly recommended for any household - - -babies and adults alike. 5I like the talk feature Doesn't interfere with my two other Graco monitors which is the most important thing to me. I like the talk feature, I can find out what my daughter needs before going upstairs or I can tell her just to go back to bed lol.However, the battery really does not hold a charge. After being unplugged for a few minutes, the battery is already dying.So if you are using this as a stationary unit, I would recommend it for the price. But if you need a unit that can be unplugged and move around the house with you, keep looking. 3
