Customer Reviews

Best AvailableThis is the only tree wrap that I use. I tried others, but they fall apart. This doesn't. It stays in place and protects trees from rodents in the winter and sun scald in the summer. Even better, it comes in 150 foot rolls so goes a very long way. It's easy to wrap, and because of the color, it looks just like the tree trunk. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to protects his trees.5Don't expect asphalt in tape! When I ordered this item I first read the reviews and took special note of one in particular that cautioned that the product advertised was not the one that is shipped. I was especially concerned about the description that claimed a thin layer of asphalt was part of the tape's construction since that is what I wanted to further deter small rodent damage. I've had great success with that type for years. I thought surely by now the description would have either changed or the shipping error corrected. WRONG. My tape does not contain the asphalt as advertised, but due to time constraints I am forced to use what was sent.1Great product, fast shipping.Yup it's tree wrap, what I like is it looks good and will allow tree trunk to breath while protecting against excessive sunlight. My use is mainly for young fruit trees which is easily damaged by sun. I use ProThec Green three wire tie to secure to tie off the loose end of the wrap. There are plenty of other options. I like that the tree can grow and the worst leftover is cardboard mulch.5This item is NOT as described! This item is NOT as described--it is NOT asphalt-impregnated. It is priced at the rate for the asphalt wrap, but is the standard double layer wrap. I talked to the owner of the company which produced it and he said the asphalt tape does not have the green writing on it. It simply has a sticker with the UPC code. This product should be priced at about $15 per roll. He said the retail for the asphalt-impregnated wrap is about $21 (plus shipping). Bottom line--this is NOT as described, and far overpriced for what it is. It is an excellent tree wrap, but if you need the insect and rodent protection provided by asphalt, this is NOT for you.1Shrinks When Wet.After exposure to rain, this wrap shrinks considerably which then pulls apart and exposes the trunk at the overlap. I have about 10 trees that I had to redo with the same wrap. Since it had shrunk considerably, my re-wrap left me only able to wrap less than what I originally wrapped the first time. We have now just had our second rain, and it has shrunk again for the second time exposing the tree trunks I was attempting to protect for the second time. I now have no choice now but to discard this wrap and start again from scratch with another product. I spent a fair amount of time and money on this product to no avail. I would look at other options before using this product.1Excellent product for winter protectionExactly what I was expecting and hoping for in a really big roll! This is the same product recommended to me when I bought a young Imperial Locust tree several years ago. I was told to stake the tree and wrap it each winter until the bark became rough and textured (mature tree). When I had the tree trimmed this spring the arborist suggested I remove the stakes but continue wrapping the trunk for a few more years. So every Halloween the trunk gets wrapped and each Easter the wrapping comes off. This roll of tree wrap is huge; about double the size of the two rolls I got with the tree. It may just see me through to the last winter this tree needs to be wrapped. The outside of the paper is, well, paper. There's a very thin coating of some sort of plastic on the inside -- this keeps the paper intact through 5+ months of cold, snow, and whipping winds.5It s a Big Roll for Small TreesOverall, I like this wrap. I switched from a 2 wide wrap this year to a 4 wide wrap. I wrap all newly planted trees for 2-4 years to protect against deer, sunscald, irrigation water, and frost. The 4 provides good coverage with sufficient overlap and speeds up the wrapping process. So far it has been more durable than I expected in wet conditions. The thin layer of wax on the inside surface aids in both self adhesion and in repelling water. I would not depend on this wrap providing protection against weed-eater damage. The 150 roll is very awkward when wrapping small trees and tears easily if put in a twisting bind. After 50 or more is used off of the roll, it becomes much easier to use. If I had my druthers , it would come in three 50 rolls rather than one 150 roll.4Great productI have six new trees in the yard I had to wrap for the Colorado winter. I admit when I first saw the tree wrap I had a small pang of "I paid how much for this?" but once I had it opened and got my hands on it I realized it's actually a very nice product. It's light in hand which belies the sturdiness, I wasn't overly gentle with my wrapping and had no mishaps or tears, it's tough! I have everything wrapped now and will update this review if I find any anomalies in the spring.5Not a good product - multiple re-wraps requiredI've had to re-wrap trees multiple times with this product! I've used Clark tree wrap the last several years. Each year, it has had the green logo/writing on it. This year when I received it, it was plain on both sides. I don't know if they changed their design or if I received a knockoff but this version is terrible. I've never had trees lose their wrapping like this one. Disappointing and will not be ordering again. Having gone through the tree wrap exercise for several years, I know it isn't operator error, it is product failure.1Description STILL incorrect (5 1/2 years! from first review noting this)! No asphalt!I was hoping that Amazon had updated the description but they have not. There is NO ASPHALT in this product in spite of the description. I'm checking other online sources as have had great success with the asphalt version in the past. Disappointing!!! This makes this wrap very flimsy and it tears easily (especially when wet). Stay away until Amazon gets the kind with the tar on it (which is what is described here).1
