I love these shelves! I used this as a shelving base for my outdoor bar. It was the perfect height. I reinforced it to add a long top. It was easy to put together and made my construction job easier. You have to think outside the box! I am not a carpenter. I just wanted a home made saloon bar for my cabin. You can see that the end has not been attached yet. I ran out of time. I bought two for the ends and made sure my roller cooler fit between. Then I added the top and rustic siding. It is eight ft. Long and cost about $200 including shelves. I amazed myself! 5Nice little shelf for the price. The wood is "inexpensive" quality with lots of dings right out of the box but for the price, there wasn't anything I couldn't live with. I was able to put it together by myself in about 30-40 min. Directions were clear and it assembled with no problems. It takes time using the included hex wrench but I wouldn't want to use any power tool for fear of overdoing it. I tightened to hand tight as any further sounded like it would damage the wood. It neatly holds the square fabric boxes I've used in cubicle shelving. The packaging was sufficient with probably 90% of it able to go in the recycling bin. I still need to see how it responds to a load of books. Assuming that goes well, I plan to get more shelves. 4Nice Sturdy Shelves and They Look Good Too Shelves are very sturdy and look nice. The book case is fairly smallish. But it is a nice color and goes well with the baskets you can buy for it. 5Nice color, easy to put together, and useful This book shelf is great! Works well and is a great price. Pretty easy to put together; I was able to put it together in less than an hour with the help of my boyfriend. The color is a dark brown color, just like the description says! Looks great and fits all my books. The only issue with this book shelf is that it won't fit large books, say like a large picture book. All of my other books fit well though. 5That #$%&-ing Sticker! Everything about this product is good. It looks like real wood. It smells like real wood. It even feels like real wood. And it matches with the rest of my chocolate/mocha bookcases.However, I have one niggle with this product. Why must they apply a paper sticker on the underside of the top shelf. If you ve bought other assemble yourself furniture, then I am sure you know what I mean. Everyone has come across one or two of these. That sticker that when you try to peel it off, no matter what you do, it tears off in narrow ribbons, leaving behind paper residue and gooey adhesive.I tried everything to remove the sticker residue from the wood: an adhesive scraper, vegetable oil, rubbing alcohol, and finally acetone. But then I was left with another issue: a surface of the wood that had been stripped of all wood stain. Since I did go to art school earlier in my life, repigmenting the wood was not that difficult for me. Nevertheless, for many this could be a major issue...and one that could be resolved easily by the people at Windsome: simply use stickers and adhesives that don t ruin the product.I took only one star off for this mistake. Perhaps I should have rated it lower, but whateva. I ll leave the final judgment to you. 4Great shelves! I really love these shelves! They are sturdy and look really great. :) I have bought three of them and am planning on buying another one. My only complaint is that one of our shelves were missing the screws. I'm sure Amazon would have taken care of it but it was easier for me to purchase screws. :) 4Think outside the box! These are great and super sturdy. I may get more at some point to actually serve as bookshelves. I was looking though many different kinds of shelves to see if there were any I could make into an inexpensive kitchen island with storage and bar seating. Premade ones are ridiculously expensive as a young homeowner and I actually lost cabinet space moving from an apartment to my house. I initially got sidetracked and was looking at this one for actual bookshelves, but a review farther down of a guy using them for a bar of his own made me realise that these would work for me too. I ordered two and paired them with a clearanced countertop from IKEA ($20!) and one of their heavy duty adjustable legs ($35).I left the top shelves off and anchored the countertop to the shelves using the predrilled holes in them. It's not fancy, but I have extra seating for my friends and just enough storage to put the rest of my stuff away.EDIT 3/6/2019: We still have and use the island and it's still sturdy and holding together. I think we eat there more than at the kitchen table. 5These are genuinely great I am a book nut. I love books and love to see them and have them displayed in a functional, beautiful way. These bookshelves are great. I bought two of this item, the three internal shelf, 4' tall version. I received them, put them together (very easy; having now put more than a few together, I can have one from box to complete bookshelf in 5 minutes or less). I was so pleased with the 2 three-shelf version that I bought 3 two-shelf versions. Pleased again. I have now bought an additional 2 2-shelf versions (assembled and I am happy with them) and 7 SEVEN! three shelf versions (2 assembled, 5 on the way) and am considering buying a few of the taller, skinnier tower versions. I have always had a lot books and bookshelves, but these are extremely attractive, well-built, beautiful designed for books big and small, curios, knicknacks, anything that you might want to display. Aesthetically, they are a really nice balance of substantial and serious but don't feel closed off and stuffy. It is not steel framed minimalism, which feels cold, nor is it Oxford library pretentious. Its a beautiful balance. They are fantastic. I will upload photos of them when the room is fit for people's eyes. And Winsome, if you are listening, your product is wonderful, and I was wondering if you had a buy 14, get a few free policy? 5Unremovable sticker These shelves are study and easy to put together - approximately 30 minutes. However there were scratches on the edge of one of the shelves. I think these could be touched up but it is a quality control issue. What bothered me the most is that the warning sticker cannot be removed. To be fair it is on the bottom of the top shelf so it is not obvious. I tried to remove it with my fingernail and the stain scratched off. One of the screw holes was drilled too big and the screw slid right in. Not a problem since it was only one of four screws holding the shelf on but if there were more than one screw hole too large on a single shelf it could be a problem. Again a quality control issue. I am using these shelves to store board game boxes in a closet. However I would be disappointed if I had intended to use these shelves in a room with nice furniture. They would probably be acceptable in a basement rec room type setting. 1A surprisingly high-quality piece of kit, especially at this price. First of all, yes, OK, technically this can be considered flat-pack furniture, in that it comes packed flat and requires assembly. Don't let that put you off. There is not a shred of particle board in this unit; it is solid wood throughout, and it is a very nice quality piece of work, nicely finished. Unlike most kit furniture these days, it's sourced out of Thailand, not China or Indonesia. It goes together easily, looks good when assembled, and the only tools you will need are the supplied Allen wrench and a soft-face mallet (or a hammer and a piece of softwood to use as a drift) to tap the screw caps into place.The only issue you may have is that sometimes some of the screw holes in the side pieces may be partially blocked by drifts of excess finish. You can clear out the excess easily with a sharp knife.I'm not certain what wood this is; Winsome Wood's site doesn't specify. The finish option I chose was described as "walnut", but I wouldn't have described it as walnut; it's too dark and reddish for that. Rosewood would be a much better description. Whatever you call it, if you like dark wood finishes and clean, simple design, odds are you'll like this. The shelves are big enough to provide a useful amount of space (roughly 10" x 24"), and should take a pretty good amount of weight, though obviously it's not a Gorilla rack and you don't want to use it to store engine blocks. Use it for books, use it for clothes, use it for your collection of Tongan knick-knacks or your collection of single malts. It'll serve admirably for any of them. 5
