Advanced: but worth it!! We LOVE our new dripper. Very advanced though. Took a little getting use to it, figuring out possible settings. We came to the conclusion that the 3 main variables to play with are the amount of beans, grind size, and drip rate. We would write down each and keep a log, then rate the coffee. We now have quite a few different brews to make, and 3 main ones: we have an overnight strong brew, quick strong brew, and a frugal brew (least beans, but not weak). 5Delicious Cold Brew, but Not 6-8 Cups' Worth Delicious, unrivaled, smooth cold brew that's far superior in taste to an immersion-based system (e.g. the Toddy ). However, this most definitely does not make anything close to 6-8 cups of it it's more like 3-4 cups.The dripping system is fairly high-quality; yes, it sometimes takes some babysitting to get it to drip at a consistent rate, but I'm not sure how anything beyond some sort of automated system could solve this as it's sort of a natural property of water flowing through a small aperture. 4Way cool for infusing spirits. Great for infusing tequilas. Would sell more if they supplied recipies to try. Can't wait to infuse other spirits. 4Good Looks, Bad Results Very pretty, but the ball valve is glued in so I cannot fix the following design flaw. As water drips through, the water pressure in the top container changes, so the rate of dripping changes. Either you babysit the darn thing for five hours to keep adjusting, or use tea not coffee, or expect really really bad cold drip coffee. I wish I had my money back. I gave up and bought a toddy for so much less with vastly improved results. Again, it is lovely and pretty, so maybe it's worth it for a conversation piece. But for actually making good cold drip drinks, don't waste your time and money. I wish I had a better review to leave, I was so excited by this. Oh, and lest you think I am just bad with it -- the big SF third wave coffee shops have walls of cold drip like this, but they actually make the coffee in back in a plastic tub, just like I do, and just splash in a little from the glass contraptions. Otherwise they cannot get it consistent enough. 2May take several tries to get a non-broken one delivered Other than arriving with broken parts, I love Yama cold drip towers! So much better than immersion cold brew. Low acid, not bitter, capable of making ultra-concentrated extractions with clean, bright flavors. Depending on your extraction, you can highlight floral and fruity tones or deep caramel and chocolate notes. The only drawback is that the valve is not easily adjustable to control drip speed (you tend to overadjust every time). My sweet spot is a medium-fine grind and 6-8 drops every 10 seconds. Aeropress filters (or discs cut out of a cheap filter) work fine for the top paper, no need to buy expensive circles. 5Make great cold coffee Best way to make cold coffee. You're not soaking coffee in water overnight (gets a bit nasty), very clean, great flavor. Depending on bean and roast you can have coffee that's almost tea-like or closer to a smooth-scotch/cigar.Flavor-profile (ha!) changes over a few days storage of a batch. 5Not just for coffee!!! Excellent for your bar..Saw this being used infusing tequila thru roasted oranges at a local restaurant. When it's not being used, just looks great in my Bar. Can't wait to run other liquors thru this. 5Amazing! My girlfriend purchased this cold brew coffee maker for me for my birthday. Truthfully, I have been eying this coffee maker for a long time. There was a coffee shop I used to go to that had one (bigger version) and the coffee was amazing. At first I thought the price was too much and so I tried both the toddy system and using mason jars. Both were ok but honestly the coffee brewed through this coffee maker tastes amazing. It's all flavor. No burnt or weird after tastes. I drink my coffee black so there isn't anything put in my coffee that could mask any bad flavors. A lot of people poo poo the price of this brewer. I suggest they try some coffee out of one before they render an opinion of it. Yes, it's expensive, but it makes awesome coffee.
