Oprah of beds. THIS BED IS THE JAM. First off, I'm a flight attendant. I sleep in a lot of hotel beds. I know what a good and bad bad feels like. THIS BED IS AMAZING. Feeling impartial about the non conforming bed of the future? Think you'll miss the springs? No way. I promise. I felt the same. I sat there for 36 hours straight watching this bed rise in my kitchen festering the idea that I made a mistake. What is this? Why does it have to rise? Who even am I right now? The instructions were like one sentence and I probably messed it up. Omg what if I messed up?! 2017 is weird, I hate this. I hate New things. JK NOPE. I HAVE NO REGRETS! This bed cured my boyfriend's back pain. This bed cured my sleepless nights. MY PHAT @zz can sleep on my side without my spine feeling broken in half. I can sleep on my back or stomach no problem. I can't remember the last time I slept through the night... Now I can't wake up. We spent three days sleeping til 2pm. Today I missed my alarm for work by 2 hours. I legitimately slept through 2 hours of backup alarms that go off every 10 minutes. THIS BED IS THE DEVIL. But like a good devil that greets you with puppies and all things great in this world. This bed is the Oprah of beds. This bed is like getting a whole row to yourself on an airplane. This bed is like seeing your ex and they look like a potato and your eyeliner is so fleek it pierces their heart. This bed is freshly signed divorced papers. THIS BED IS ALL YOU NEED IN THIS LIFE. Its dirt cheap, soft yet firm, and will make you laugh pretty hard the first time you're trying to get rowdy on it. I've had this bed a few weeks now and I am pretty convinced that this is the best decision I've ever made in my life besides losing my virginity and buying a motorcycle. TOP THREE for sure. So stop debating and order this bed. Just do it. (Shia lebeouff voice) (I probably spelt that wrong)Oh and it doesn't smell bad. I read that it did. It smelled like it was compressed in a bag and shipped across the country which was expected, but it went away. Also the box makes a rad cat house.Xoxo 5Mattress had Mold Worst mattress. Not only did this mattress become covered in black mold but it was growing from within the mattress.We followed every recommendation and precaution to take care of our mattress including cover and storage. You can see through the pictures it s not a little mold but riddled throughout the entire mattress. AND WE ONLY HAD IT 9 MONTHS. See pictures.Worst mattress. Worst sleeping experience due to mold that made us sick. 1DO NOT UNZIP MATTRESS COVER!!!! DO NOT UNZIP THE MATTRESS COVER!!! We really enjoyed this mattress for the first year and a half. Our son had an accident on the mattress so we tried to clean it without removing the mattress cover but couldn t get the stain out. We regrettably then decided to remove the outer cover and unleashed a invisible fiberglass storm into our house. We have spent thousands of dollars trying remediate this disaster. We hired Servpro to help filter out all of the fiber glass particles in the air.We have little fiber glass shards in everything that won t wash out. We will have to throw out all of our clothing, bed, mattress, sheets, blankets, towels and pretty much everything with cotton. Btw... I called Zinus and they told me yes we are aware and that s why it says not to remove the cover. Then why did you put a zipper on it?!?!? If you took the time to read this PLEASE LISTEN TO ME DO NOT UNZIP THE MATTRESS COVER!!!!!!!!! 1I WISH I could give this a 5 star review! BECAUSE...The mattress is SO comfortable, and we love it.....I bought a 12" Queen for my boyfriend for Christmas. Upon opening it, we smelled a strong mildew smell. We let it rise fully, for 2 days, once it had fully risen we took the cover off of the mattress and washed it. In the meantime, I stood the mattress up on it's side to air it out. Sprayed it with febreeze and put the washed mattress cover and clean sheets on the bed. I thought that had done the trick however with in a week it was back. Now, you can smell it as soon as you walk into the apartment. I can't imagine what it is going to be like when summer gets here. Now, three months later and my boyfriend has been dealing with sinus/headache issues in the last month. I am concerned that there is a connection between his issues and the mattress!! So, he has been sleeping on his couch :/ZINUS PLEASE HELP!! BECAUSE AS FAR AS COMFORTABILITY WE ARE 100% SATISFIED..... BUT CAN NO LONGER DEAL WITH THE SMELL :( ESPECIALLY IF IT IS CAUSING HEALTH ISSUES! 1Worst Mattress Ever!! I have been debating on leaving feedback about this mattress! We are on our 3rd one from Amazon & still so highly disappointed it's unbelievable! The sad part is I don't believe it's Zinus, I blame Amazon! They have sent us 3 different mattresses with packing dates from Zinus some as early as almost a year ago. If you read the info from Zinus they should be opened no later than a month, or 2 at the latest in order for them to decompress properly, which NONE of ours have! Also, Amazon doesn't tell you that their is a different level of firmness available in this mattress, unfortunately we must have gotten the firmest one they make! We ordered the 12" the 1st one didn't make it past 3/4", 2nd one 6/7" & the 3rd finally after a full 8 days made it to around 10/11" & is hard as rock with NO GIVE! We have no choice but to sleep on it, because we got rid of our old mattress when we were so excited to get the 1st one of these! Neither my husband or I have had a good night's sleep since this all started in Dec 2017. Amazon promised to follow up with us & keep going until it was made right, needless to say we haven't heard back from them! Now, we have no more $ to invest in another mattress! My advice, when it comes to item's like this you're better off dealing directly w/the manufacturer so you know EXACTLY what you're getting! First, let me tell you I already own two of these mattresses, so, I really do, ultimately like them. That said, when I received this most recent one, it smelled like mold. I know they say there is "a smell" and you just have to air it out for a couple days, but that is not what this smell was - it was mold. I am allergic to mold. My apartment smelled so bad after the first day that I, still wanting to give it the 'couple-day-air-out' try, got one of those plastic zip covers. It did nothing. I used febreze and powders, even a vacuum-able carpet, mold-smell remover and nothing worked. I had to remove the item from my house.Now, let me also say that Amazon was amazing and refunded me all my money. However, the manufacturer, Zinus, has the worst customer service ever! On their website, it says to contact them if you have a compressed mattress to return as there are special return procedures. So, I called them and the woman was so rude to me on the phone by the time the call was over (and by over, I mean, when I almost broke my phone slamming it on my desk), I was ready to call the BBB. As said, Amazon was great, as there is apparently no way to recompress a mattress and return it.All said, I would never buy another one even though I love the two that I have, but this experience has made it definitely not worth it. 1Want the best mattress possible? Read this. I'm going to do everyone who reads this a massive favor. I'm going to tell you how I got the best bed ever, and it starts with this mattress.Let me start off saying that I have spent an unusual amount of time mattress shopping. I gave up on stores a while ago, and have been testing out the latex/foam options for a few years. The price, durability, and ease of shopping is hard to beat. I've tried all the major options; Purple, Tuft and Needle, Dreamforce, Tempurpedic, etc...The first Zinus mattress I got was all screwed up (images attached). But Amazon replaced it quickly. The most common complaint on this mattress is it's too firm, and I can see what they're saying. I'm a big (fat, over 300) guy, so I like firm. But most the people who have been in the bed are not so big. So, I decided to take advantage of the fact this was so cheap and went ahead and added two other items.First, DreamFoam Bedding DF20GT2066 2" Gel Swirl Memory Foam Topper, King, Aqua Blue This gel topper is great at keeping things cool, and has a good amount of give to it.Second, Cheer Collection Ultra Plush Eco-friendly Hypoallergenic Bamboo Fitted Mattress Topper - King this pillow top topper adds yes another level of cushion, and yet seems to let the cooling factor of the get topper come through a bit.Between these added items, I think I have created quite possible the best mattress I've ever experience, far better than Purple, Tuft and Needle, Tempurpedic, etc..., and all for well under $400! It's comfy, firm, and doesn't get too warm.I have a couple suggestions that I think really help.First, make sure this sets on a completely flat surface. If you get a platform frame with a mesh bottom, add a sheet of plywood under the mattress. I do feel this makes a bit of difference.Second, use a mattress cover on the Zinus. This thing should last forever if you don't damage it, so protect it. With the other two covers you'll never actually be touching the mattress. Just replace the toppers every couple years.A bonus suggestion, especially since this whole set up is so cheap, is to treat yourself to some bamboo sheets. HotelSheetsDirect 100% Bamboo Bed Sheet Set (King, Dark Gray) These feel amazing, and they're only $50.For pillows I'd recommend getting some traditional pillows, as well as some latex filled. The combo is a nice addition. I really stand by this suggestion, so I hope someone finds it helpful. Let me know.One year update: Matress and pads still fantastic. I rotate it once a month, just as a routine. Still perfect. 59 months later & happy It's not quite 1 year - more like 9 months and I still love this mattress. SO comfy. To answer some of the questions I had & saw when I was first looking to buy this mattress:1) I do take the time to spin it every couple of months because of sleep close to the edge of one side all the time. It doesn't get too soft or indented in that spot, but I want to keep it from uneven wear.2) No, the mattress does not get hot/heated like some do. I tend to sleep winter & summer under a lot of covers and while I might get warm, the bed doesn't hold heat uncomfortably. I do have a protective cover on the mattress though and that might help some.3) This is not too heavy for me to spin/rotate. It's a big, thick mattress but I can rotate it easily enough by myself.4) I find this to be a medium-firm mattress. It's not super-firm, but it's not one of those mattresses that sink under any weight. I have someone 6 foot and 200 pounds who helped put the bed together & when they sat on it and tested the firmness it held up really well. 9 months later, it's still just as firm and comfy.5) Still love the fact that I can set my computer and a cup of coffee on the lap table on one side of this bed and it's not disturbed when Is sit down on the other side. Basically, you don't have a lot of bounce all over when moving on the bed.I was strapped for cash from a relocation when I got this and worried whether I was making a good purchase. This has been a great purchase. This mattress is better than ones I've paid twice and half more for.1st UPDATE... Just thought of this when I was saw an ad for another (really expensive) bed. One of the things mentioned about this other bed was something that I have noticed (and LOVE) about my Green Tea Mattress. I have to explain what I mean:I tend to sit do everything from my bed - watch TV, work on the computer, etc. I even sometimes (okay, *most* times) eat in bed. What I just realized is that I can sit or lay in one spot on the bed without disturbing anything else on the bed. Th tray I am using as a bed table is just a flat board. I also use this to sit my computer on. I am always getting up to do something and coming back. Guess what? Everything on the bed stays perfectly still.That is a HUGE benefit. When I saw the ad for the other mattress, I went looking for similar ones. The prices were ridiculous. I think that this may be the best purchase of a home product ever. EVER! Obviously, I happened to make my purchase at just the right time and got this Queen for just under $200. I will tell you without blinking in the slightest that I would have paid more if I had known just how much I was going to love the mattress.I actually have the mattress *and* platform bed frame from Zinus. I will be spreading the word about both.I will be updating but had to come and let people know how impressed I am this first day. The packaging is superb. I was able to unbox by myself. Didn't expect the mattress to expand so fast. It's only been hour but this thing is already at 14 inches! I'm tracking progress with photos and wondering will be even thicker.I am cheating and laying on it already for the review. Comfy. If it's stays at this level of comfort for at least a year.... I'll be happy. Normally I can't lay on my back without pain. I did so on this mattress and it for all my contours but held firm.I am super pleased at this stage.One thing to say as a warning: if you don't like the mattress I have no idea how you would send it back. The packing sheath is meant to be torn off. When you then remove the plastic to expand the mattress... Good luck ever getting it back in that box. Also I happen to have opened the end of the box where I old see the instructions & info envelope. Just know that it's there somewhere. I don't recommend doing anything with opening the mattress until you read that. 5Musty smell does NOT go away. I had high hopes for this 12" mattress. It arrived as expected, and I followed the instructions for setting it up. I left it alone for 3 days, waiting for it to totally inflate...but it never did inflate to 12 inches. It inflated to 11 inches on one corner, but the other three corners of the mattress inflated to only 9 and 10 inches. It's also a very hard mattress. It would be unusable if I didn't have a 2" foam topper on it. People had mentioned a slight smell in other reviews. I gave the mattress three weeks to air out and inflate before putting bedding on it. The musty smell that emanates from the mattress did not decrease after three weeks, even after zipping it into a mattress cover. I will not be ordering this Zinus 12" mattress again, as I had previously hoped to do. In fact, I will be getting rid of the mattress as soon as I can replace it, as the smell is permeating the rest of the house. I'm quite puzzled at all the positive reviews. Lesson learned. 1So far so good. ****Updated Review after a month or more of use I ordered this item on 1-27-2018 it arrived on 1-29-2018 with my prime membership. I opened and laid it out on top of a guest room bed to inflate. In 4 hours it appeared to be fully inflated. However packing info says wait 24-48 hours before using to allow proper time to inflate. I did however break down and climb on to see how it feels. I am on a pillow top mattress currently that is roughly 6-8 years old and has been causing me a lot of pain in my shoulder and hip as I am a side sleeper. Just laying on this bed for a few minutes its much firmer than my current bed, and so very comfortable. I will leave a more through review once I have actually slept in it for a few nights. I can say I am very excited. I plan to put it on my current box springs, and we will see how it goes. I was a bit disappointed to realize you cant flip the mattress only rotate it, which is what I have currently with my terrible pillow top . and I like to flip my mattresses every month. I will also state that when I unrolled it I was really worried about it forming its natural state as it had a lot of weird lumps from packing, but it has formed to a normal mattress already on a cursory view of it on my way out the door today. I will better inspect it when moving it to my actual bed. Update!! I have been sleeping on this mattress for about a week now. I will say one night I did get very warm, however I don't think it was my mattress I tend to run hot and cold and occasionally has the same issue with my old pillow top. This mattress is shockingly firm when you first sit or lay on it you think oh Hell No! But within second the memory foam begins to contour to your body and it's very comfortable. I am a side sleeper and was having alot of hip pain with my old mattress. While my pain isn't gone it's much better, and I think it will go away given more time with this new bed. My review is definitely a positive one. For 179$ and arriving in 2 days I'm very pleased. Included are 3 photos the last photo shows me sitting on the edge of the bed showing how much it goes down with my weight, and that I don't know why people say you can't sit on the sides I can't sit on any side any corner no issues... and even with my weight it springs right back to shape once I move or get up, it also still provides comfort and support this bed is rated up to 500lbs! Which thankfully I am not!********* Updated Review***********I have been sleeping on this bed for over a month now, and wanted to update my thoughts. My hip and shoulder were in ALOT of pain when I bought my new mattress. I couldn't barely walk around during the day from the pain, now I am fully recovered and I credit my bed for this. If you are on a budget and cant spend 500-1000$ on a new mattress I greatly recommend this item.If you are plus sized and worried about it don't be this bed is tested for 500lbs and as a big girl myself I sleep amazing on it with my HUGE dog and cat. I feel more rested and relaxed waking than I have in at least 5 years. 4
