Excellent Quality This thermos/mug is outstanding. It keeps my coffee very hot as mentioned in other reviews. The color is beautiful. It is a very dark burgundy and looks nice enough to take to office meetings. I love that it locks closed so I can put it in my bag and not worry about spillage. I have been using the mug daily for the past 2 weeks and I'm still excited about drinking my hot coffee. My old thermos would not keep my coffee hot. This one keeps it hot enough to require that I be careful to not burn my mouth at first sip! 5P65 potentially cancerous lining? Opening is a bit small, but product works nicely. However, I am disappointed with the lining. Looking at the color options, I bought two of this model for my sister and I. When I gave it to her, she immediately questioned the lining (which I had also been surprised with when I opened mine). Sure enough, the box has a California Proposition 65 warning, and a more detailed look at the description says it has a nonstick lining. While the details are not provided on amazon (and should be), the zojirushi website indicates this lining to be teflon. Teflon production involves perfluorooctanoic acid, so I suspect this is the source of the P65 warning. It is frustrating to try to move away from plastic to avoid chemical exposure, only to find stainless steel options also coated with questionable compounds. Whether or not the PFOA is still in the product post-manufacture, using teflon contributes to the production of more of this questionable chemical. I also found the product outgassed, and smelled strongly of plastic for the first few days (even after hand washing). Surprised no other reviews mention this. 2This liquid carrier REALLY keeps it HOT HOT HOT I've used 5+ different ones over the past few years taking fresh brewed Hawaiian coffee to work. This is by far the beast at keeping the liquid steaming hot for hours... It will work all the way from 5AM until lunchtime when I have usually finished 2/3 of the 2 cup volume. It definitely does not leak even laying on its side on my cars leather seats.The lid lock works great BUT I do warn you the stopper MAY touch your nose when you drink if you have a large nose!!! Yes I notice that even with an average nose (me) when I get toward the end and have to tip it all the way up... the stopper may bump my nose and even leave a drop of coffee on it!If it didn't work so perfect to maintain the flavor, is so easy to clean, and I love the shape and texture of the finish... I might complain? 5Is it witchcraft? I actually have concerns about how hot this thing keeps my coffee. Even with the cap open, drinks stay hot enough to be uncomfortable to drink HOURS after filling. I feel like maybe it's lined with radioactive material, or else there are black arts involved. However they do it, it's impressive. 5Hey! Great choice. This is the thermos of your dreams. THIS. THERMOS. I was a hardcore Stanley fan until the latest one I purchased was leaking. Many people at my job have this thermos and I am so so glad I let peer pressure get the better of me. It holds just as much as the Stanley in 2/3 the space and keeps everything just as hot! The lid took a little getting used to, I didn't like it in my face at first. But I use this thing every single day. I don't know what I would do without it. At this point I take it equal parts because its more economical to take my own tea, but also because this thing may save me someday in the case of a routine apocalyptic Subway shut down and I'm stuck in a tunnel with a bunch of angry New Yorkers and no Wifi.Some people don't like all the little parts that come apart- I love it. I really love strong milky tea so being able to take apart and clean out all the little pieces from time to time is awesome! 5This mug REALLY holds the heat well. I've only had this mug one day, but I am TOTALLY happy with it. Last night I performed a test. I have been using a Contigo West Loop auto-sealing mug. I boiled water then poured it into the Contigo and the Zojirushi. I did not pre-heat the mugs. Right after pouring, the water in both was at 201 . After 8 hours the water in the Contigo was 102 and the Zojirushi was 156 . BIG difference!Today, I pre-heated the mug and filled it at 6AM. The time is now 11:30 AM and the coffee is still VERY warm, like it was poured into a ceramic mug 5 minutes ago, even after drinking about half of the coffee it held to begin with.The Zojirushi is a bit taller but is narrower and lighter than the Contigo. It's hard to tell, but the Zojirushi has a smooth, semi-gloss finish. The lid flips back easily and is out of your way when you sip. It might block your view a bit when you're driving, so be careful of this.Overall I am completely happy with this mug and I highly recommend it.. 5Very Well-Insulated, Kinda Small This thing is pretty amazing as far as keeping hot drinks hot. I sip coffee/tea all morning, and when I finish (5 hours give or take), the drinks are still hot. Not piping-hot, but more than hot enough. So, kudos for that.On the downside, it is a bit small (see photo for comparison). I realize this is a part of the functional design (thermodynamics, smaller surface area to radiate, etc), but a regular teaspoon barely fits inside the lip. This also means you'll need a bottle brush to clean it. In addition, the maximum amount of liquid is right at 15 ounces.Also, it's a little involved dismantling and cleaning this thing. Nothing too bad, but you will need to take the cap apart once in a while. The instructions are completely in Japanese, so be prepared for some pictorial interpretation. Unless, of course, you read Japanese, in which case; bravo! I never could get the hang of it.All in all, I'm very happy with it. 4Wish they made the outer coating stronger The hermis holds heat really well. But the quality of the outer painted area is not too great. I have had older models and the coating wasn't as fragile as this one. I have never dropped or banged it against anything, but the coating is still coming apart! 4Fantastic Product! Simply the best out there. Keeps warm drinks hot for hours. Use it in the yard when I am working and 3 hours later it is still cold and has ice. The lid seals perfectly, and I have had several of these I used every day for 3 years with no problem on my commute to work.Indeed, my morning coffee was still warm by lunchtime. This is the third one I have bought, as I use them when fishing, one for coffee in the morning, one for ice water when it gets hot. Have used a lot of other company's products which flat don't work. 55 stars are spot-on-- this thing keeps coffee HOT! All of the other reviews are on the money-- this thing keeps coffee HOT, and with a slim profile too. The rose gold color is incredibly pretty and when the lid is on tight and the lock is snapped into place, I can wipe down the sides for any drips and then toss the whole thing into my purse, where my phone and iPad also live-- no leaks, no worries. I have a hydroflask that has the same capacity and this thing keeps my coffee hotter longer than the hydroflask, is much slimmer and smaller in the same overall capacity, and is more leak-proof. The Contigo cup is also pretty good but this one looks way nicer and is much easier to clean out. If I'm being very fussy I could say that it's almost TOO slim because it rattles a little in my car cupholder, and the lid does have the tendency to nudge you in the nose while drinking, but overall this thing is a solid win and makes mornings better. Any device that keeps a teacher caffeinated is worth its weight in (rose) gold! 5
